In common usage most people do, but I believe that's incorrect. Male & female witches are called 'witches'.
The name 'Warlock' directly translates to 'Oath Breaker'
Just a FYI.
Some witches might take offense to being called a warlock

Other way around. Modern wiccans and whatnot ascribe the word to a witch that's been kicked out of a coven. It's made up. The term warlock historically has been applied to male witches and still is by the dictionaries.
