i was there last month house hunting. Can't believe how big and cheap houses are. 350k for house that's 2 times bigger than one i have now that i can get 1.2 mill for. Gotta love ny prices.

Hahaha...  I moved from Poway (used to see Tony Gwynn pretty regularly and had a New York Yankee down the street) to Henderson, Nevada (movie stars and musicians all around).  Went from $750,000 to $350,000 (bigger) house. 

3.5 years later, I am in a house in Carlsbad, CA. 

Desert was fine for a lot of things, but the neighbors, "friends" and co-workers were another matter.  Californians need to be a bit more intense and that helps when it comes to daily life in a neighborhood.  Less all-night weekday parties, etc.

I'd like Robert Zubrin (but not about Mars, instead a show dedicated to his book about anti-humanism), Aubrey de Grey about dramatically extending lifespan, Ray Kurzweil about the Singularity,  Nick Bostrum on whether the universe is a simulation, Bjorn Lomborg on climate change, and of course Edward Snowden.

I live in Western AZ and a lot of the plates around here are Cali - especially around the river cities. They bring the debauchery and vanity to our small cities.

They balance out the confederate flag waving right wing Tea Party religious loons.

I am jaded and have heard it all before probably hundreds of times. My experiences have made me more skeptical of the CLAIMS made by guests....

My problem being an old listener is that I lose interest in listening. It's almost all BS - and I'm the type of person that finds reality much more interesting than fiction....

I'm pretty level-headed but I try and keep at least a sliver of an open mind with the more esoteric topics.  I see it as speculation rather than hard science and that keeps it fun.  It's that element of "Hmm .. what if?" like when reading sci-fi or whatnot.  If I couldn't do that I think I'd skip those shows out of frustration/boredom.

Seriously, I have relatives in Phoenix. Whenever we drive there and usually spend a week, we experience more TAIL GATERS than anywhere else I have driven. I also found that many people in Phoenix get on a freeway at 40 miles an hour. Try that on an LA freeway and you will be smashed into a ditch or up against a wall in seconds. I guess I am a true Los Angeles driver because people in Phoenix always seem to be driving too damn slow OR are up against my back bumper.

If you could hear what they're saying in those cars:  "Wow, do you see any movie stars?"  "Is that a tree?"  "Why don't I see rocks all over the place?"  "Where's Disneyland?" and, my favorite, "Honey get my black socks out, I want to wear sandals today."
