tonight's open lines show was the most enjoyable thing i've heard on the radio in years.  this thing is going to just keep getting better.  there were several moments where i had the biggest grin on my face listening to art do what he does.

Same here.

Art must be a Rocky fan. He's played Eye of the Tiger almost every night. It's one of the only songs I've retained from my piano lessons as a kid.

Kezar Stanyan

Was that awesome, or what?  Anonymous, time travelers, callers using sound effects to mention the 'other show' and a repeated 'screaming lady' reference by Art to the flashback caller who asked him if he remembered her situation from the 80s.

Addition of new gen and international callers + resurrected Art >= better than 90s

Jackstar

Every time I think about the peoples saying "Art's washed up, he'll never come back" I just giggle myself right into a paroxysm

I'm pretty sure there is a cream for that.

Was a great show :)

I agree 100%

One request, play the intro and a little more of the MITD song at the end. These get clipped severly on the podcast.

Grinning from ear to ear every night

Art is the best.  The old saw is "nobody is irreplaceable."  I'm really starting to doubt that.

Not sure if it's just me, but it seems like any song Art picks for bumps just instantly becomes cool by him using it.

I've just downloaded it and am going to listen in a while. I think this show is the one that I have looked forward to the most. It's always special when he gets a chance to mix it with the callers. One odd thing about when Art takes calls is that I prefer it when they aren't on Skype. It's probably just me but I prefer hearing a bit of distance between the two; when the calls are clearer they seem a bit more intrusive. Anyway, not even a gripe, just an observation that surprised me.

Art did interview Dennis McKenna, it's in the big torrent.

Art always used Amboy Dukes' "Journey to the centre of the Mind" when interviewing them :D

Loving the music. Added quite a few to my playlists.

Hooked on Serenade and Steve Miller Band now.

"Sundown" was in there too...
Ha, yes.  After the query yesterday about playing Gordon Lightfoot, I took it as a shout-out for the Gabblings.  8)

I don't know how Art got me to the nineties for $1.25 but this weeks trip was breaking badass!

You sir, are a wizard!

To the Wizard of Time Travel:
You really swept me off my feet, you made my life complete!!!
You made my life so bright, you make me feel alright!!!

Congrats on your fist of many, mind blowing weeks❗️❗️❗️

As long as we're focusing on Canadians, where's the Ruuuuush?

PathoJen

Morning Gabblings! I bought these headphones for sleeping, which I don't do since MITD started. Just wanted to suggest them to you. Only thing is, they are not wireless.  :'(

PathoJen

And if you are unfortunate enough to be listening to Dave, you might want to invest in an Ostrich Pillow.

Interesting, & I know what you mean.  It was shocking at 1st to hear them so clearly, as if they're both in your presence, even though you know 1 of them is at the controls.  Think of it as like listening to man-in-the-street interviews, where even though the interviewer is holding the microphone & can walk away from anyone, they are passing the mike back & forth.

We get used to lack of realism.  The sound track the 1st season or 2 of Simpson cartoons was slightly disconcerting because it was done in a more realistic way, with the actors stepping on each other's lines or nearly so, the way we talk in real life instead of on stage with a rehearsed script.  Once you lost your expectation of the formalities of drama, it was better than conventional style, but they dropped it.

All that old music is making me smile/laugh and get creeped out from memories of AM radio stations over playing those songs, but when he plays them now it's not an irritation for some reason. (Cannot figure out why because normally I would just change channel)

It's funny he decided to call his subscribers Time Travelers because I do feel like I'm traveling back in time every time I listen to him. I'm also seeing Bell Bottom Jeans and Neon Green Dodge Darts in my sleep, which is not a good development.

I only found out about about Art Bell about a week before the start of Dark Matter. Later I've been listening to the old shows but somehow I never appreciated the open lines format. Now listening live to this episode completely blew my mind. I see no way to express how absolutely fucking amazing Midnight in the Desert is. I'll be there every morning (it starts at 6 am for me;)).

Dr Who

Well firstly thanks to saucyrosie for the bumper music list I used to make myself a cd of the music when art was on c2c this morning I got to do something I have wanted to do from 1996.However living here in Northern Ireland I was always a day behind and in fact in 1996 used to have to wait for old reel to reel tapes to arrive with 3 months of the shows on them at a time. This morning live via Skype I was able to tell Art my time traveller experience and as an Art Bell time traveller let my step kids and grandkids in Texas hear it.Life is indeed wonderful.

I killed my Facebook account today.

I keep wanting to go to the People Who Love Art Bell page...  I feel PWLAB is like the girlfriend who only liked missionary position and was kinda loosey...  Once you find the wild girl who wants to imitate every porn on XHamster, damn, old girlfriend is gone.

I feel like such an unloyal prick.

Revolting newbie post.
