Vinyl ... YAY!!!  those were the days alright.

Well I'm drinking my coffee, reading some threads and reflecting on last nights gabcast ... the entire show was awesome and thanks BellaHaven gals who called in and talked ... very nice and entertaining.  And  brig, thanks for having the courage to speak your truth!!

I'm sad that I caught this remark in chat "Respectfully, can all you BellaHaven people stay in your own thread, have your coffee and not bleed all over the forum?!?...sheesh" ... from someone who isn't considered a 'troll', only outspoken in her views ... BUT I'm curious if this was meant for the gabcast and chat or for all threads in the forum?  Since it didn't come from MV ... I know it holds 0% of weight ... but it was NOT a nice frigging remark and IMHO just mean  ... again, for me, a lesson in the politics and ways of forums ..

I am glad that there is a Bella-Haven thread for folks to come by, have coffee, share some love and hugs and good feelings ... AND I will proclaim for myself ... that yes I usually  post the majority in Bella-Haven ... but if and when I choose to post in any other forum thread ... So Be It (and I don't use't B-H rhetoric speak in those other discussions, but stay on topic) ...   (**I'm sure that snide remark wasn't meant  towards me exactly) ... but again, I will stand for what I believe and  never forgot
Je  Suis Bella-Haven and Je Suis BellGab !!
Oh and  {{{{love}}} and {{{{Hugs}}}} everyone, enjoy the glorious early autumn day   8) ;D ;) :D

Thank You for your support Ms. C  :-*

Serenity, thank you for the wonderful morning music!
Ms C, I saw that comment too.  I didn't understand it.  I don't post Bella Haven things in the other threads.  I refuse to let it get me down.  The GabCast was great last night.  I think the cast is doing a splendid job without MV, although we all miss him.  HUGS back to you Ms C.

Roswells... I didn't see the remark? This thread is a 147 pages and 66673 views, lots of people besides the gentle posters of Bella-Haven are also enjoying this thread. Don't be concerned about the remarks of one "outspoken" person posts. My goodness I'd be huddled in corner and afraid of my shadow if I let that stuff bothered me.
I truly enjoy Bella-Haven posters. And anyone that doesn't enjoy the personalities of Bella-Haven collection of posters, should listen to last night's GabCast and note the laughter and fun the co hosts were having with the wonderful ladies of Bella-Haven.

Nancy has brought together with her Bella-Haven concept , a kind, gentle and fun collection of people, Praise Nancy..  cough cough Praise MV!

Anyway a few quotes from Elwood P Dowd always helps me keep things in proper perspective:

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be," â€" she always called me Elwood â€" "In this world, you must be oh so smart, or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

I always have a wonderful time, wherever I am, whoever I'm with. I plan to leave. You want me to stay. Well, an element of conflict in any discussion's a very good thing. It means everybody is taking part and nobody is left out.

Science has overcome time and space. Well, Harvey has overcome not only time and space â€" but any objections.

I took a course in art last winter. I learnt the difference between a fine oil painting, and a mechanical thing, like a photograph. The photograph shows only the reality. The painting shows not only the reality, but the dream behind it. It's our dreams, doctor, that carry us on. They separate us from the beasts. I wouldn't want to go on living if I thought it was all just eating, and sleeping, and taking my clothes off, I mean putting them on...

Harvey and I have things to do... we sit in the bars... have a drink or two... play the juke box. Very soon the faces of all the other people turn towards me and they smile. They say: "We don't know your name, mister, but you're a very nice fellow." Harvey and I warm ourselves in these golden moments. We came as strangers â€" soon we have friends. They come over. They sit with us. They drink with us. They talk to us. They tell us about the great big terrible things they've done and the great big wonderful things they're going to do. Their hopes, their regrets. Their loves, their hates. All very large, because nobody ever brings anything small into a bar. Then I introduce them to Harvey, and he's bigger and grander than anything they can offer me. And when they leave, they leave impressed. The same people seldom come back, but that's â€" that's envy, my dear. There's a little bit of envy in the best of us. That's too bad, isn't it?

So there.

You know, when I first heard about the Bella-Haven show being put together by You and Nancy, I have to admit I was expecting a show much more along the lines of what you are doing now on the Outsider, with two lovely girls discussing their mystical experiences and such.   I hope it can be understood that I can like Nancy, and also say that The Bella-Haven show was not what I was expecting at all.  Sure it was an excellent show, but alas, it was not my "cuppa tea".  I am not a Future Theater listener either, which I should probably get out of the way as well.  It's a wonderful show, but again, simply not "my cuppa tea".  Many of Nancys fans may have followed her here as fans of her's from Future Theater.  I am not one of those.  I came to Bella-Haven as a bellgabber,  to enjoy a show that I thought was going to be a couple of lovely girls talking about angels, and magic, and and and.

I have thought long and hard before posting this, but it seems it is the time, as it may make it more understandable to WhiteCrow, and others, some of the reasons we are not seeing eye to eye.  I did not come to Bella-Haven as a fan of Future Theater, or Nancy.  I came here as a bellgabber, and a fan of the kind of show that I thought Bella-Haven was going to be.  In the process, I got to know and love Nancy, and Rosie, and many many other people who all became friends. Maybe I am the *Outsider* here.

Most Sincerely,
Love,
Brig

Dear RoseGirl, I don't know anything about who did what with the start up of the Bella-Haven show or whose idea started the Bella-Haven thread.
I apparently assumed incorrectly, that Nancy was the main driving force, based solely on the interchange between you and Nancy on the live show.
Let's not get into that any more, water over the bridge thingie, my error and my apologies to you.

I enjoyed you on the joint Bella-Haven show with Nancy. And also I enjoy Bella-Haven after you were no longer part of the show. And as I posted, I like your new show. ...
...  Truth is I like everybody, even that sumofbutch MV .... choke choke Praise MV

Thank you Brig. Yes, I think you are right...it may be time to talk about it. I've thought long and hard about it too....and I have come to the conclusion that I am tired of taking it on the chin for Nancy. I was perfectly content to leave it alone and just do my show and such...really I was, even after being chased out of this thread by trolls and snide comments and posters that 'didn't like the way this thread was going'. So be it, I said to myself. Fine, whatever. Just going to do my own show. But, you know, it just doesn't seem to want to drop. So....

Here's what happened:

...ahem...

Ready?

I went to Nancy, who had chatted with me a few times on the Future Theatre psn chat as well as had had me on her show, and I told her that I wanted to do a show with women (oh and yes...I checked...I still have the emails to prove it). My idea was that there were no real shows with the women's perspective and that the radio/podcast world was a far too male dominated place (I believe I used the words 'testosterone poisoning'.) I wanted to broadcast interesting paranormal things from a female perspective and I also wanted to explore the yet to be publically celebrated culture of women (and yes, there is one).

Certainly, Nancy....a woman five years into a show dominated by men...would understand. At least that's what I thought.

She immediately grabbed hold of the idea and, in a nut shell, pushed me into the corner and said 'mine, mine, mine'. And she wasn't subtle about it either. When I began offering suggestions for the show, I believe the direct quote was 'This is my show, don't get in the way. Is this going to come up much? It better not.'

I was shocked, to say the least. However, I did want the show to go on and went along with 'the rules'. Nancy also told me that she can be quite aggressive so watch out. And she was right. On one occasion I had emailed Keith with a short recording of intro music that I thought would be good for the show. Well....did I get cussed out? Nancy went up one side of me and down the other and then told me I was NEVER allowed to email Keith again. She also forbid me from emailing Art or anyone else involved in any kind of a 'higher level'. Fine. Whatever. But things were even then, at the beginning, starting to slip away. Clearly, Nancy's concept was to place 'her' show after Art's show as an after show and thereby gain from his audience.

Anyway, as it went on it went from bad to worse. Nancy promised to help me set up my equipment so that I could host the show when she didn't feel like it. Course, that never happened....many excuses, but I really don't think she ever intended to give me that much 'authority'. At the beginning, she told me to place my microphone from my headset up on the top of my head, not near my mouth. She said that would help with the sound levels. That, of course, was a lie...it really just made my voice sound very distant and very faint. She said 'oh it doesn't matter, you're just a hobbiest anyway'.

Starting to get the picture?

Next, as I was beginning to greatly feel the need to protect myself, I asked for a written agreement between us. Nancy swore up and down that Bill was drawing one up and it would be forthcoming very soon. 'A 50-50 split,' she said 'anything less that that would be a rip off and that just isn't in our (meaning Bill and her) DNA.' And, of course, the agreement never materialized...which concerned me greatly for two reasons: 1) Nancy was starting to talk about charging people for subscriptions and sell ads and such and 2) as a Canadian, I had no legal rights down in the US and could easily have my ideas stolen and be taken advantage of financial as well.

Oh and there were lots of other things too that not only made every red alarm signal go off in my head, and I have to be honest here, even made my skin crawl a bit. But the final straw was on air one night when Nancy said to me 'when you talk about these things do people ever just pat you on the head and say go away?'

That is when I wrote this private message to Nancy:

Hi Nancy,

Well now, I suspect this comes as no shock, but I have decided to part ways with Bella-Haven.

Really, it has become something far different to the show I had first envisioned when I approached you to do a show and, in my opinion, because of my limited ability to shape my ideas within the show, I don't suspect it will ever become something I can enjoy.

Enough said.

Congratulations Nancy, I wish you all the best in the future and I hope Bella-Haven does all for you that you envision.

Sincerely,
Lasha

And that, my friends, was the last time I ever talked to Nancy. The very next thing....and I still can't believe she did this...was that I went onto the GabCast and heard Nancy and MV discussing very private details of my life that I had told Nancy in strictest confidence. In fact, Nancy had previously asked me to outline 'my greatest fears' concerning the show (I realize now what she intended to do with that knowledge). And so, I am sure there are other private details of my life that have 'found their way out there' too.

Now then, I have given Nancy several opportunities to talk about this in the forum and she has always refused. In fact, she ignores me. She just comes in the forum once in a while and acts all hurt and confused. Please...are you kidding me? She knows my email address.

So...those are some of the details. There are others but ..geez...so nasty. Not my view of how I want to do a show.

There...I said it. Deal with me.
Rosie

The banter that happens here is unlike any other thread on the board. Everyone contributes in one way or the other. It is grand to see. Each one of you has a gift. Some make videos, some a podcast or a show. Some weave stories. It's about THIS collective of people. I enjoy the various ins and outs of this thread and enjoy being here in the morning to catch up on things. Without sounding mushy and all that, I love each and every one of you. That includes the folks that don't get in here often as well. Folks like Jazz or Popple and TheMudking. You all have made me smile at one time or other and for that I am grateful for the respite from the daily grind called life. BH is missed, long live the Outsider and Gabbing Now.
So, mushy time is over. Thanks for being here day by day. Another of my favorites for you all from an old friend and his brother.

Seriously Rosie, we (at least I did) understood that you and Nancy both have strong personalities and the partnership probably wouldn't last. It was a bit of radio Bella-Haven Heaven when both of you were on. And that is how I'm going to remember it.

I hope the spirit that you 'both' created with this thread and the show can live on in this thread.

oh my gawd...I love Buffy!! She's the best. Oh and this song gives me chills because, in my younger days, I actually wrote news articles for a Native Indian newspaper called 'The Native Ensign' and would often have to go to many Pow Wows (private Native festivals).

At one of those Pow Wows (Poundmaker's Pow Wow) I was given the name 'Skywalker' by a kindly elder who I later discovered was a shaman.

Also....the name Outsider...I chose it for two reasons. Firstly, as we are all interested in the paranormal, I am sure we all feel a bit like 'outsiders'. But secondly, and more importantly, the term 'Outsider' is actually an astronomical term meaning 'a celestial body that comes from outside the solar system and travels inward'. Like a comet or something that has a kind of destined effect.

The strong personality thing is dead on. Omg I agree with White Crow??!!! Just kidding WC. We all have unique personalities and not everyone is going to get along. Also it is bell fucking gab. People are not known for being nice. Lmao. Art Bell himself said "vaguely" lovable. And being a public figure or wanting to be one means your whole life will be looked at under a microscope. It is one of the main reasons I am cool with doing what I do. Let 'em look I say.

RoseGirl

Thanks WhiteCrow and ponyboysunset...totally agree. And I certainly do see a bright future ahead. No doubt.
