Christianity is Dying!!1

I have noticed that Christianity is slowly dying and could not be happier. I never did like organised religion. Something about a man telling me to give him/church money to prove am a good little christian never made sense to me. I also always hated how they talked about what Jesus said and how to live and treat others but they always did the total opposite. I am just glad to see churches closing, gays getting married and the Pope saying Atheist can now go to heaven. Think it was about time for the smoke screen of Christianity is final being blown away!!1

WOTR

I agree.  I just thank Allah that Islam is on the rise and there to fill the void.

It'll come back to life in three days.

"Christianity is Dying!!!" †††

Not as quickly as Coast to Coast AM affiliates might croak, depending on the cross-media impact of Operation Bell Curve.

††† Yes, I know what that "1" in your topic heading was supposed to be, baby.

C A M is hip to a slipped shift. Yes sir.

Don't worry. It will only rise again on the third day.

The General

Did you guys hear the joke about how it will rise again after three days lawl!

Problem being that in the absence of religion, people tend to make up new religions and it becomes the same 'ol same 'ol. Get rid of the Christians and you just end up with Mormons and Scientologists everywhere. Get rid of them and everyone's worshiping crystals and shit. But the problem remains the same; with all religion comes the "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality.

There are all kinds of Christians out there.  It isn't fair to generalize and lump them into one self aggrandizing pile.

If you don't like Christians why don't you go live in Saudi Arabia for a while and then report back. If they don't lop off your head.

Agreed, Christians are a large group of people with varying points of view and different levels of tolerance towards people with differing beliefs. Yet, I rarely hear any speak out against those that practice intolerance. OK, the intolerance is never to the level of beheadings. Is that where the line is drawn?

The line must be drawn here--this far, and no further.

b_dubb

The Christians who are espousing tolerance are doing it in their churches on Sunday mornings and during other church functions. Those don't get a lot of press coverage. It's the lunatic fringe that's out in public yelling at everyone that they're going to hell that are getting press coverage.

That picture is pretty gay, Jack...

Onan and b_dubb are spot on. Christians can be idiots just like anybody else. However, it has been my experience that the majority of Christians sincerely endeavor to live a life that reflects the values commonly associated with their faith -- myself included.

I have resided in the heart of the, so-called, "bible belt" for 40 years now. The only time I have ever seen a group of self-identified Christians hollering about Hell and damnation is during Black Bike Week,  which takes place every Memorial Day weekend here in Myrtle Beach. It typically involves a group of 5 to 7 people,  who  generally come out during the first night of festivities and walk a few blocks along the main drag, carrying signs. That's it.

"I'm right, you're wrong" mentality.
What is it that you are right about while the rest of us are wrong... Or have you ascended above such things? :)

I'm wondering if the joke will rise after being told three times?
