i heard a rumor that the pentagon was jealous of the production crew's depiction of the war room in that movie, as it was a lot more interesting and nicer looking than the real world version. apparently the DOD redesigned/upgraded the NORAD command center after seeing the movie. wouldn't surprise me. the flipphones 15 years ago came out of star trek.
