My next job was the best job on the planet. I was in charge of all the shuttle simulators and all of the astronaut and flight controller training for about 4 years. I could land the Shuttle just about as well as most of the astronauts. I had a little trouble with on-orbit maneuvers though. That lasted until I had a freak accident and knocked my eye out with a bungee cord. I had to miss a year of work.

When I went back, there was nothing else I really wanted to do. I set up the project to build the Soace Station laptop computers because the project was in trouble. Once that was on track, I went to work for the company that was doing the IV&V for all of the NASA programs (not just shuttle).

BTW, I used to study with one of the guys who wrote the software for the lunar lander for Apollo 12
