FYI to would-be interviewers: the host provides continuity and guides the discussion.  The guest, on any given night, is the show.  He (or she!) shouldn't have to fight with the host to participate.  That's why the guest was invited!!!

Hoagie's ego is so large he thinks that he alone can provide 250 nights/year of material.  He can't.  So he proceeds to create badwill among the universe of possible non-crazy guests, who become ever scarcer.

All he has to do is model Art, one of the best!

Hoagie is a great interviewer.  We've heard it.  We were shocked and pleasantly surprised.  The Dick Cavett Hoagie as he was called.  If he could lose his schtick for a while and tread the waters again he could be Charlie Rose.  Unfortunately you can't teach and old dog new tricks.

I agree...
OK, now I'm out.

I don't see how anybody can listen to Hoagland 5 days a week.  One day a week is my max. If I listen to more than that, I can't get the words 19.5 or torsion field out of my head.

A good night to all of you in North America ;)

Heh, I know I'm venting, but Dr. David Livingston was actually interesting.  Yet I the listener was thwarted by the host!  Get out of your own show's way, Hoagie!  Don't be a coc . . . guest tease!

Vent away.  ;D  ;)

Also NASA, as run by the government, is a complete mess that can't be excoriated enough.

However, the "$600 toilet seat" criticism has never been valid.  That seat was the result of serious R&D, and there is practically no market in which to amortize those costs.  Each unit is basically a very expensive one-off.  The implication of NASA's wasteful incompetence (of which there is plenty) makes witty propaganda, but in this case it is economically ignorant.

You can't have astronauts spewing waste in 0g, and you can't create a seal that sucks their insides out their assholes.

This isn't something you pick-up on sale at Lowe's.   :)

This is true, crazy though it sounds of late.  Hoagie has proven he can do it, as we early listeners know.

But when he's good, he's like an addict who you know hasn't changed, despite the 'dry spell'.  Richard is hooked on Dick.  (Himself, not me!)

The problem is, every picture sources back to enterprise mission.
Damn, where's expat when we need him.

Here is Mike Bara. Hoagland's acolyte and main arse licker telling us how to make a robot head out of a random rock in shorty crater. Try it for yourself. Mike is such a fucking genius he can fake shit in the cheapest of paint packages.

Yes but is there a NASA version of the Squatty Potty?

I can't help but imagine that you sleep at parade rest.

Well, the Little Gunny sleeps at attention.

Right here, boss.

Data's head image proved fraudulent (24 June 2008)

I liked your answer to the guy in the comments section who said "Bottom line: It still looks like a head."  Good job.

So uh, how was the show with Dr. Space last night?

Good guest, but Hoagland repeatedly steamrolled the poor guy with his ego.

He mentioned how CP30 head was found on Apollo 17 landing site, and how the chinese will land on the moon to steal the American flag and it might cause a war lol.

Here it is, 5:26pm, Mountain time, I'm about 20 miles southwest of RCH (thus it is about 5:30 his time, too), and his website still doesn't have who his guest or topic will be tonight. Offering a show guest list for the week ahead is the one good thing done by GN (or whoever has skill there on his site). I'll surf a little more to see if something turns up. I want to test my way of recording the show. I may have to test it on Rense instead.

I looked up the guest from last night, David Livingston.  He hosts his own podcast at thespaceshow.com, which he apparently has hosted since just before 9/11/2001.  His guests look pretty legit. Not vouching for him, but I listened to a show (2 hrs) from a few weeks ago (11/16), and I thought the material was quite good.  Livingston has likely picked-up a new listener.  Not a hubrid-type show, tho.

He happened to mention Richard Hoagland in that podcast, said they were longtime friends, half-apologized for it (lol), and said an email he'd recently gotten from Hoagie professed a view that was "drama queen" stuff--direct quote!

Now's your big chance to become a long-form discussion internet radio guest!  ('T'will be a good time to be had, for sure!)

this has been the norm of the show since it started..except it has gotten worse recently

Why doesn't Hoaxland just have a youtube show instead? He wouldn't have to pay for bandwidth and his radio with pictures would work better in that format.
