Useless Eater

Damn, just got home from work, er, I mean waking up from uselessly eating Richard C's bandwidth, and it sounds like it was a bizarro show. Can't wait to fire up the podcast and voyeur the weirdness.

Mega Dildos!

You really want to get to hoagie email him how you are some skunk works test pilot that flies the secret space bus and transports workers to the far side of the moon and on to mars using the counter rotating torsion field drive that rotates at 19.5 rotations per second and you want him to disguise your voice so you can tell him all about the secret space humans.  :o

That reminds me of a story about the secret manned Mars missions.  It did bring up an interesting question which might make a good call in.  Is there anywhere on the Earth where someone launch a secret spacecraft which would go into orbit, and then boost itself into a trans-lunar or trans-Martian orbit without being detected?  We lost that Malaysian MH370 777.  Could a rocket be launched in secret from somewhere in the Southern hemisphere?

DRINK!!

I really really hope the kids sleep in. Would it be wrong to drug them?

An appropriate dose of either Valium or Benadryl should do the trick.

"Homosexuals do not deserve to exist" ..unless they have millions of dollars to spend (John Travolta/Tom Cruise). ;D ;D

If the Scientologists are lurking this board you, sir, are fucked. Them's fighting words - and they fight dirty.

I'm a bit uncomfortable with bestiality being lumped in willy-nilly with homosexuality. I'm fine with gay people, but lumping bestiality in there? A bit too wide of a brush going on here.

Why can't I marry my goat?

Well, I haven't been able to get zeebo to make a commitment.  It's not like we're exclusive or anything. And I do love a man in Sith uniform....

Btw I'm thinking about breaking up with zeebo. Are you as cuddly as you look?

You're just setting yourself up for a messy divorce.

Yes despite TL's many charms, I must be free to roam the park, as they say (well as we squirrels say).  However, I better watch my step here - I do have a history with the Empire.

You don't need an account to read, and...

he has minions to do his scut work for him.

He himself do it - doubtful. That would be below his genius, even though there are more references to "19.5" in here that any place else in the universe.

And that's just from Sandra.

I was thinking about how Hoaxland keeps clutching to Cronkite and his TV work decades ago. I don't recall RCH ever forcing into the conversation his tenure at the museum. While it isn't as exciting I'm sure, it's just that he will use the flimsiest excuse to bring up Cronkite (to the point of  being absurd--like his bible story last episode) while never talking about the museum. I wonder why? Was he fired or something?

The line between fiction and reality is blurred. You can write a novel that people see as quasi-real, such as the Da Vinci Code or even Star Wars where people now will identify themselves as "Jedi" in censuses of religion. Or you can go past the line and write a novel that people see as something more, something presented as a religious text but might be fiction. It's the art of the ecstatic truth, you can blur the line between fiction and fact and sell tons of books. All one has to do is drop their ethics like L. Ron Hubbard did. And Hoagland for that matter, though I think he's so crazy at this point that he actually believes what he wrote.

Interesting show, and great point there.  I never considered Hoagie's "model" as a parallel to Scientology's attempt to provide a back story to the universe, or at least human origins, but now it seems so obvious.

That he still uses the term "model", which I take to be like a hypothesis, suggests that he's built in some wiggle room should some claims be unequivocally disproven and he has to backtrack so I'm still not sure he believes it completely like one would a religion.  But I guess you could say all faiths are just aggressively promoting unproven hypotheses in the same fashion.

Yeah gotta think on that.

His genius producer posted praises for RCH here in cogniti the other night but when one gabber pointed out that his account was just created, he went quiet.  Technology & old people...

Well, he did have to backtrack on the face on Mars thing when they photographed it again and just looked like a mesa. Like a religion, one can always come up with some sort of explanation for a hole in the theology or "the model". All religions have done that since the beginning of time because they're specifically set up to have unknowables from the outset given that they deal in things that cannot be measured or studied, such as the afterlife. In Hoagland's case, he's always going to have a readership that will accept backtracks because they operate from the preconceived notions that come with being believers in that they are not simply succumbing to pareidolia but that the objects they are seeing are automatically something more than rocks. He can always fall back on "the model" and adjust it accordingly for "new data".

At that point, all one needs is a few suckers to buy in and hand over the bucks and you've got yourself a successful religion or schtick to sell books.

I actually thought he said the new photos had been manipulated by nasa to cover it up or obscure the face

Nicely done.  What a total dumbass lol.  I didn't really expect them to pull anything clever off but technology aside, anyone coming in here to talk about how great Hoagie is would stick out like a sore thumb anyway.  What made it ridiculous was the date stamp on his profile.   That change things from mildly annoying to mildly annoying and pathetic .

It's happened to me several times and it sucks beyond all belief. I'd rather go down in flames than betray another. I suppose that makes me seriously old school. So be it.

High-lighted my text-book...

Sure hope the Dept. of Education doesn't charge me for the list price of the thing.
