What'd I miss last night?

An interesting round-table discussion of politics, especially with regard to Billary's private email server which might hold the keys to UFO/ET disclosure, if RCH's "model" holds true, amongst other things. From what I could gather:

the "model" RCH has is: the Clintons have a secret server. Why?  Except that something important is contained on it and important communications. Q.E.D. related to the UFO/ET cover-up. Obama wanted to disclose but circumstances etc prevented this. His JD is investigating the Clinton server, and giving hints to allow Biden to run, etc as a cover to allow her later to hold a press conference in which she sandbags the Republicans, some other Democrats, and the secret-state/controllers/whoever and explains why she had the private server and private emails: it was due to UFO/ET and so we have disclosure and is elected President and we move into a brave new world. Some guests disagreed with his theory and also were anti-Hillary in their use of private servers.

I'm a day behind, so I just finished listening to Monday's show.  I find it interesting that people didn't like Ecker in part because he just said stuff that directly contradicts known facts (at least, that was my impression scanning through the 10 pages of this thread on Monday's show).  For example, that President Obama didn't (but he did) acknowledge the people who thwarted the French train attack.  Now you kinda know my thoughts whenever Richard tries to say just about anything about physics or astronomy or geology.

That doesn't mean I hate him, think he's an asshole/"asshat", or anything like that.  For me, I've moved to where I consider it an interesting study of cognitive dissonance, how conspiracies are built, and how people use factually wrong things to justify their positions, where those factually wrong things tend to seem plausible and only known to a certain specialty of study just how wrong they are -- where Ecker screwed up is something he stated as fact was trivially Googleable to be shown was wrong.

From a purely entertainment perspective, Ecker was "meh."  I agree with most on here that politics is an instant turn-off, and Ecker's ability to ignore things and buy into some conspiracies (Bengazi) to justify his political mini-rants was not good radio.

I also don't like the constant references to technology from 40 years ago.  I'm really kinda over old people marveling at how fast we can communicate these days or reminiscing about moving from kilobyte disks to megabytes and what a great boon it was.  If you have a guest like in that first or second week where it's actually important to the story (where they were talking about radio from 50+ years ago), that's one thing.  But several-minute digressions to reminisce about the marvel of a 300 baud network is not good radio.

However, some people like the things you didn't like, I got emails from people specifically sating how cool it was to hear them talk about the early days of the Internet......so it's sort of a to each their own thing.

Yup, I heard that.  It would be interesting to see how Ecker talks about it in a few days; he sounded as though it was one of those things that interfered with the image he's built up, and so I wonder if he'll remember it or just go back to saying the same thing.

I say that as someone who's seen this sort of thing happen all the time, and I know of psychology studies that have shown this to be the case, usually done about vaccine information or other things.  The studies show that when you're confronted with information that disagrees with the view you've built up, you may acknowledge it, but chances are a few days later you'll have completely forgotten that bit of information.  It's how cognitive dissonance works.

This is not saying anything about Ecker himself, he may be immune to it in this case.  But it's an unfortunate aspect of human psychology and it's why pseudoscience is so hard to stamp out in general.  Pseudopolitics?  Ug, don't even try, you'll never succeed.

Listen, I'm not gonna get into the personal demographics of people that email. I don't ask things like that.

I'm younger than you and I enjoyed SOME discussion of it.

But let's be honest here, you're finicky. It's in your nature. That's part of your psychology make up. And you know what, that's great. I can appreciate that part of people's personalities, including yours. Though what I find annoying is when THEY can't understand that there are people who don't think the same way they do.

So, yes, you don't enjoy hearing about antiquated technology whether it be on Art or Richard's show, and there may be a large amount of people who agree with you. The fact remains based on the sampling size of emails I've gotten, there's probably a large amount of people who DO enjoy it.

This something that happens with age. I'm 39 and I'm starting to catch myself thinking about how tech was in the 90's vs. today. At some point you just sort of stand back and realize how amazing it really is to watch an exponentially advancing technological society develop. To you a cellphone is something to be taken for granted. For me I literally watched the entire human race addict itself to what amounts to a prosthetic brain. The older you get, the more you notice it.

I'm 44 and can remember starting high school right around the time commercial internet started to show up.  Granted, technically, there was an internet previously developed but not available to common folk...I digress.  I remember CompuServe and Prodigy for Commodore, etc.  Having access to those perks was out of the question (too pricey) but I was a wiz on my Commodore 64 and could program in Basic like a madman.   Lost my grasp of Pascal, etc......again, I digress.

People of my age group remember the birth of this stuff when it became accessible to the everyday person.  Look where we are now.  I still am in awe of the progress and regret how far I fell behind.

I totally mirror SciFiAuthor's sentiment in his post above.  100% in fact.  I find it refreshing to read.  Keeps me a little more sane just knowing I'm not alone in that perspective.

FFS this horseshit was old and boring 15, if not 20 years ago.  How about Richard wait until 'disclosure' is actually here, or a 'cover-up' is actually uncovered, before bringing it up again?  I'd actually rather hear about Billy Meier than more of this stuff.
