Mon/Tues 9/13/16 â€" Tony Ortega â€" Scientology Secrets, Scandals, And Lies

Tony Ortega is the editor of ‘The Underground Bunker,’ the only website in the world that has a journalist covering Scientology as a daily beat. Tony has been writing about Scientology for more than 20 years, and he’s worked at numerous publications, including The Village Voice in New York, where he was editor in chief from 2007 to 2012. Last year, he published “The Unbreakable Miss Lovely,” a book that tells the full story of Paulette Cooper, one of the first journalists to expose Scientology, and who nearly paid for it with her life. Tony appeared last year in Alex Gibney’s Emmy-award-winning documentary about Scientology, “Going Clear,” as well as many other programs about Scientology, including UK Channel 4’s excellent “Scientologists at War.”

I just joined the 19.5 Club to check out for a month.  What are the top five shows I should listen to?

That's a tough one.  I, as do many others here, appreciate the Rossy produced shows more than any others.  Anything before 10/21/15 is pretty good overall.

I'll give ya 8 that I enjoy:

7/27/15 ~ Dick Bertel *if you are nostalgic about broadcasting this is a good one.
8/19/15 ~ Dean Haglund
9/1/15 ~ Tim Russ
9/2/15 ~ Peter Levenda
9/24/15 ~ Joseph Ferrell/Father George V. Coyne
2/5/15 ~ James Burke *this should've been phenominal BUT Hoagie screwed it up, IMO.
3/3/15 ~ John McAfee
3/21/16 ~ David Icke

Plus Dave Distler interviews are good. (EmDrive stuff)  He pops in here every once in a while.  8)

Cheers!  :D

He has only been on for 15 months. He doesn't have a top five yet.

I don't know the date or the guest's name, but the one on the Antikythera Mechanism was good.  Another curious one, whether believable or not, was on the Golden Ratio and it's secret message hidden in the cosmos.  Maybe someone here remembers the dates of these.

those indeed are 2 good ones..he had one with an author on about Cthulhu..but his website is so piss poorly designed i can not find who that was

Dave Distler are usually good ones and he had one with some old english/irish guy that was good

You guys nailed my top picks!  braaps.

The Antikythera episode: thrilling true adventure story of the discovery of an ancient astronomical device found in a sunken ship deep in the Mediterranean.

The Lovecraft episode, during which the guest and host warm up slowly, but become so comfortable chatting amiably together about eldrich things, that Hoagie almost tells the whole story of his adventures with naked dancing fairy maidens in the forest.

another ..weird but entertaining one was with the magician

Why can't I remember the Lovecraft episode?  :-\

I do recall it being good as Étouffée said, but memory is a little hazy.  The spooky literary themes may have inspired one-too-many cognacs that nite.
