It doesn't go thru the cellphone network so its free to other Skype users via Skype even if you don't have an unlimited international call plan.  Its higher audio quality too as can be heard by Skype callers vs phone callers on the air.

Thank you.  I did notice the call quality.  No headset needed right?  Because I'd feel pretty dumb.  Even moreso now that I admit I'm dumb regarding technology.
