Free Unlimited Energy discovered, or maybe not

This guy on youtube "Dutchsinse" thinks he just discovered a cheap way to get electric power.
He's getting about .3 to .7 Volts out of simply putting different metals close together.
He says you could make a 9V battery out of this by linking them together, and it would essentially run forever.

I can't believe this is anything new, and there is a reason nobody is using this (because it wont last as long for example).
Does anyone care to debunk it? I'm not so well read in the subject matter.

I assume he's getting the energy from out of the paste he uses to glue the metals together, and that the paste will quickly spend it's "electric power", and he'll end up getting shorter lifespan than from an ordinary battery.
But, he claimes "this does not deplete, it is an elecro-negative reaction between the elements" ... whatever

He uses variations of these materials:
Copper tape ---- paste of (Calcium-Vitamin + Zinc + Printer Toner Carbon Inc) --- tinfoil

probably he just built a simple battery, no more no less, right?

Sorry I haven't watched much of the video because I'm about to go to bed, and electrical engineering isn't one of my strengths, but I can give you a basic rundown.  So far as I am aware, all batteries since the earliest batteries operate on the principle of using the potential difference (ie/voltage) between two dissimilar metals.  You should even be able to do it using a stack of alternating old fashioned copper pennies and nickels (I think modern pennies are just electroplated zinc so that wouldn't work with the zinc nickels).  Sandwiched between the two metals is a salt solution or paste to donate electrons to one metal and pull them from the other.

From your description, this person has just discovered the most basic form of a battery known for centuries, though he may have discovered some unique application (since I haven't reviewed the video).  The problem he will likely come across is that while the voltage is significant, the current will be extremely weak.  Also, his thin pieces of metal should corrode relatively quickly, weakening until they produce no current at all.

what he is measuring is voltage from dissimilar metal corrosion. there is nearly no current there (a few milliamps), and the metal will eventually corrode away . this is why the engine in your car needs to be grounded to the vehicle chassis, if it isnt then the current will eat away where ever 2 differing metals are in contact (most commonly aluminum cylinder heads) ; old antifreeze can conduct the current to facilitate this. in addition antifreeze will break down over time forming weak acids that amplify this effect.

It's curious that a guy who apparently has some training with electric engineering (seems to be a hobby) gets so worked up about something like this. I don't think he's an idiot, but why doesn't he realize he just built a simple battery that wont "run forever".

Maybe it's an idea that he can scrounge up these elements anytime anywhere to produce electricity.  Maybe he is thinking grid down possabilities?

LOL... but no lol.. I get what you're saying, and I can see how people make this mistake.... but these people are misunderstanding what they're seeing ( I think / hope).

This is not a battery.  There is no "stored charge".  The charge coming "out" is coming out of the elements, which themselves are pulling THEIR charge from the sea of energy in the yet unknown quantum universe.

These elements get their charge, THEIR flow of energy comes from the "universe"... we are only accessing the shared electrons which pass between elements when they are near each other.

It does not appear to matter which elements you use, as long as they are arranged in order of electronegativity, to induce a "flow" coming "out" from the generator, which is generating DC voltage (and amperage) via brute force valence electron "sharing".

While they are "sharing" electrons, we pick some up, and use them as DC current -- and the elements somehow yet unknown pull their own electrons from the universe to remain stable.

To demonstrate this, that it is NOT a battery of any kind, I would like to get 4 very thin sheets of metal, arrange them in proper order, press them using a metal press, and test the voltage on the wafer of metal.  It SHOULD produce at least the same or greater voltage (and greater amperes) based upon the thickness of the metal, the consistency of the press, the materials used, and size of the unit.

You should be able to press small sheets of metal like Copper, Nickel, Zinc, and Aluminum together ( in layers in that order of EN ... Copper 1.9 - Nickel 1.8 - Zinc 1.6 - Aluminum 1.5  to also get DC voltage.. straight from metal !  Not to be confused with a Nickel zinc battery, this can be done on a piece of paper with paints and non-toxic substances.

No acids, no chemical reactions involved.  Ideally one would use Copper , Carbon , Calcium, and Potassium. All natural.

Finally, it is thermal reactive, it increases voltage when warm.. like an excited metal spreads heat via moving electrons.. if you warm up this generator cell, it produces more voltage.  It does not require thermal reaction to produce voltage though. :)

note : potassium and calcium are extremely reactive, and a NEVER found in nature in a pure state (you dont mine raw potassium or calcium like you would mine gold for example), always bound with some other element(s).

Exactly.  Calcium and potassium form the ions Ca2+ and K+ which are electolytes just as in a salt solution of calcium chloride or potassium chloride.  They are used to transfer charges around in the nervous system and function similarly in a battery.  They replace the need for an acid, which also produces ions that work as charge carriers.  Of course, a lot of research has gone into choosing the best electrolytes and metals for batteries depending on the desired properties (such as the capacity to recharge), so the presenter may have become disassociated from what a battery really is.

well since he also invented "HAARP rings" id say probably something synthetic.

note the "HAARP rings" are simply the ring on the weather map where the doppler station has cranked up the radar too much.
