Creepily cool. Actually I'm a bit surprised that, at least according to the site, that the simulated nuke strikes I inputted doesn't do as much damage as I thought. (I guess I over-estimated the actual damage done.) Don't get me wrong it still devasted and killed lots of people but I was thinking these days that things like biggest Russian nuke would knock out the whole state (which, I guess, it would do if one lived in a small state.) Scary though.

The Russian 100 Mt does a lot of damage.  The Russian 50 Mt was probably the biggest that was actually detonated.

Nukes are devastating. . But people tend to think they are alot more powerful than they are. .

Anyone ever see the video of the Tzar Bomba?

Yes.  If I recall it was a hydrogen bomb.  Sort of "Galactic Class".

Now you know that simply by messing with the chemistry you can have H-Bomb explosions in the shape of a prancing unicorn.

Because chemistry, you see.

A.k.a. the 50 MT/100 MT bomb Mark Knight was talking about.  Designed for a theoretical maximum of 100 MT, they didn't think the test bomber would be able to escape the blast at full strength.  As it was, I understand the aircraft did lose a mile of altitude when swept over by the wave.  Much of the blast's force went into the air instead of directly to ground.  I read it broke windows hundreds of miles away in Scandanavia and northern Russia.

I have looked at these before and agree the kill zone for the really big bombs is less than I would have expected, but I think the outlying effects are still quite devastating and the downstream fallout is going to be a bitch.
