QuoteWords declared unacceptable through the campaign include “crazy,” “insane,” “retarded,” “gay,” “tranny,” “gypped,” “illegal alien,” “fag,” “ghetto” and “raghead.” Phrases such as “I want to die” and “that test raped me” are also verboten.

Is this a joke? Maybe we should just go back to grunting at each other. Oh wait, that would probably be considered microaggression.

Looking forward to the near future when people have finally figured out that institutions of higher education are where you send people to get stupider.

edit: I apologize if stupider was on the "non-inclusive" list. I hope stupider people feel more included now.

I don't have a problem recognizing certain words can have a negative impact on others.

jazmunda

I'm just happy I can still call someone a pussy.

“Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought-crime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed by eactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten. . . . The process will still be continuing long after you and I are dead. Every year fewer and fewer words, and the range of consciousness always a little smaller. Even now, of course, there's no reason or excuse for commiting thought-crime. It's merely a question of self-discipline, reality-control. But in the end there won't be any need even for that. . . . Has it ever occcured to you, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?”

I notice words like "cracker", "redneck", "hick", "trailer trash" and any number of other derogatory terms for white people are not on this list. Because fuck white people, amirite?

I've coined and PC'd the unacceptable  â€œcrazy,” “insane,” “retarded,” “gay,” “tranny,” “gypped,” “illegal alien,” “fag,” “ghetto” and "raghead.” into a much kinder and gentler single word; "Raggie"

...plus Raggie casts a much broader net of inclusion, it doesn't single out any "one" group of undesirables.
Give "Raggie" a try, its usage fits most any mixed socal gatherings.

Yep.... u r rite.   ....because "cracker", "redneck", "hick", "trailer trash"  aren't "Raggies".

Many of the terms noted also apply to white people. But if your point is white people shouldn't be disparaged I would fully agree.

It is difficult for me to understand how holding on to epithets because someone, somewhere called someone something vulgar helps in any way other than to continue name calling.

Words lead to more words.
It's uh-all out words race.
Where does it all end?
How exhausting.

Don't make me think, or raise my pulse.
I should never have to defend myself, or my thoughts.
Only stupid people do that.
A world free from words is a safe world.
The only safe speech is no speech.  :-X
Just don't say NO, think it.

It is all very Orwellian and frankly bizarre. First they change the definition of the word. So gay now means homosexual. (I'm sure causing some confusion or giggles by children when they read, if they do anymore, old books or hear songs with the word gay in them.) Then they say you can't use that word anymore because it might offend a homosexual.  :o But, they also claim homosexuality is not deviancy (even though the government's own study says that it IS deviant statistically from the norm*.) So if so why would using the term "gay," in its new definition, be some kind of slur? The word "ghetto" cannot also be used now? I guess out goes that part of the WWII history course about the situation in Warsaw. I can understand not wanting to use the term "illegal" since it is a key platform of this government to encourage illegal aliens and open-borders but neither is the term "undocumented," really, appropriate. Many of the illegals have documents of some type- it is not like they lost all their documents in a house-fire or something and the Mexican Consulates will give away the Matrícula Consular de Alta Seguridad (MCAS) like candy and some States will even issues Driver's Licenses to illegals. So they have documents.

Actually I have "a good friend" who's white, (I have lots of white friends), and he loves those words. Who doesn't love the term cracker? I love it! Cracker ass cracker.  ;D

The problem is the endless censorship, racism, division, that's encouraged by universities of higher education. Social clubs, fraternities, student unions, commencement ceremonies organized by skin color, are about as far from the real world as possible. And yet they happen every year. Not in the evil racist south, in good old liberal California.

Decent people don't use these terms, but free speech is much more important than well (or not so well) meaning suppression, or being shielded from speech one doesn't like or enjoy hearing

This is one of the ways we can tell the Left (in this case, academia) doesn't mean a word of it when they say they are for 'free speech' and other Constitutional freedoms.

Welcome back, onan - not much has changed in this little corner of the internet

Our universities and institutes of higher learning double as  indoctrination centers. That's been known for quite some time now.

Well, let's see.. It's a campaign to raise awareness of treating other people properly, and that's all it is -- not a regulation or policy or restriction of speech.  Just awareness.

Quote

"This program is intended to be educational, not regulatory,” Fitzgerald said of the campaign. “We hope there is only the understanding that we all participate in, and have the power to influence campus culture."

In fact it's pretty much the same bent as if someone wanted to spread Christianity in schools.

They probably started with the "we're sick you all being a bunch of inconsiderate self-obsessed assholes" campaign but thought this would be a better idea.

Is my Samsung TV gonna report me if I repeat these words in my living room?

Who could argue with that.

WOTR

I just cannot be bothered to care.  It is not a list of banned words- it is a list of words that they feel are offensive and people can voluntarily sign a pledge not to use them.

Why any thinking person would feel it necessary to sign the pledge is beyond me.  I am perfectly capable of self censorship.  For example, I never use the term "chink" if any of those damn little slant-eyed bastards are within earshot.

Besides, there is nothing demanding that you have to sign the pledge, nor that you cannot use any of the words.  No doubt if you decide to use one of the terms you will find a caring, concerned, fellow student there to help guide you and point out why the term is hurtful- but you are free to tell them to piss off.

That's fine.  But on too many campuses, it is the rule, subject to penalty

A bunch of fascist professors and school admin-types with way too much time on their hands. It`s total BS.

How about sticking to teaching for a change? Wouldn`t that be refreshing? Stop trying to brainwash our kids.

Kelt

I wouldn't leave the entirety of my child's education to the school system anyway.

School can teach a kid to count, read, write, and how to find Poland on a map (not so much in American schools for that last example), but teaching a kid to be self-sufficient, capable, proactive, smart, aware, inquisitive, and ready to meet the world head on... that's the responsibility of the parents.

And if you don't have time to do that then don't have fucking kids.

Get a dog instead.

If they must feel the need for a pet, they should adopt a cat instead- and keep it indoors so it doesn't kill birds. We have enough bad dog owners who don't train their dogs- so they crap on my lawn or bite someone or maul a child. And, by the way, politically correct police. When I use the word "bitches" I'm only referring to my female dogs and, yes, that is actually the correct term to use- though I'm guessing that will be banned soon also....

If words were like water they'd roll off our back, but they're words and we're not a duck...

...you ugly, diminutive, sack-sucking, short, skinny, monkey-mouthed, pencil-dicked, butt-munching, jizz-guzzling, fag, you smell.  You cum with a cock in your mouth and two fists up your ass, using cat cum for gel. (The greatest line in the history of English-language prose, btw)
