21st I've always appreciated your good taste in music, so I'll let you off-the-hook on this one.    They can be an acquired taste I'll give you that, but check out some of their lesser known tunes sometime, you might find some gems in there.

The thing is I've heard some of their lesser tunes when I've gone into stores like Kohls and the like.  Maybe I'll give them another listen at a later date.  I have my bro's albums and he liked Steely Dan so I'll check an album out at some point.

They do have a jazz flavor, but they're almost hard to classify in that they also have rock, blues, as well as the occasional eastern influence.  I'd start with Countdown to Ecstasy & Katy Lied.  Then after that Gaucho & Aja.  But there are good songs on all their albums imho.

I wasn't big on Steely Dan, either, when they first became popular.  Now, I rather enjoy them.  Their music stands the test of time and they are very talented.

Knapp tends to revert to his hardcore, hard news personna when he does true crime shows, especially those involving the mob.  Nobody does those shows better.  How many times last night, for example, did Knapp sheepdog the guest back into the flow of the interview to establish a viable timeline of the alleged events and foot stomp specific points the guest glossed or even skipped over?  Great interview.

Why, I wonder, is Knapp the newsman replaced by Knapp the enabler when he interviews paranormal/UFO related guests?  Yes I get it, those topics are nebulous and open ended, but while the investigative results may not be as definitive, the process could/should remain rigorous when talking to those of that ilk.  I'd really like to hear him double down on guys like Lear, Paulides, and Lazar; leave the fawning softball questions to those guests to the third rate paranormal podcasters.

I find it hard to believe people(Monroe) would get whacked because they would come out with news of aliens visiting the planet.  Dorothy Kilgallen, as well.  The diaries of neither of these women were ever seen again after their deaths.

I think the larger scandal is elements of our own government bringing illegal drugs into the country.  I wonder which gangs are used for distribution?  There are always people in rough neighborhoods in New York complaining that, when they call the police concerning drug gang activity, the cops never come.  It makes a person understand why they don't like or trust the cops. 

I remember, when W was elected, one of the first things he wanted to do was to forego inspections of trucks moving across the Mexican border.  That was so strange.  And, after his presidency, there seemed to be an alliance formed between the Bushes and the Clintons, somehow around the charity.  Can a charity launder drug money, I wonder? 

I think a lot of influential people may be making money off of drugs in this country.  I remember one documentary saying the money came in so fast that there was not time to count it.  They weighed it.  Another said they were filling rooms with money and there were so few places to invest/hold it without it being reported to the government.  One place was real estate investment.  The article said Miami was built on drug money. 

People in New York are complaining of the high cost of condos.  I would imagine the price is being driven up by money made illegally.  I watch those Million Dollar Property programs and so many people pay cash.  They sometimes buy through a third party and you never see who is buying.  It is rarely mentioned how they make their money.  The politicians in New York are not rocking the boat because it means high property tax revenues.  Some areas seem so deserted in spite of all the buildings because no one lives in many apartments which may be second or third homes rented to foreign investors who are probably hiding wealth from their governments.

Thank you.  I preordered on Amazon.  I generally like books by reporters.  I would think there are so many people these days who have never heard of Kilgallen - I'm wondering how well the book will sell.  I imagine that the author is really going to have to push the book.

Good point.  Not sure "reporter" would be totally accurate when describing Ms Kilgallen.  Other than as a TV game show panelist, I remember her as a gossip columnist, the East Coast's (primarily Broadway) answer to Hollywood's Hedda Hopper (TV/film).  If she was alive today, I think we'd be more likely to see her on "Inside Edition" or "TMZ", vice "60 Minutes" or "Meet the Press".

I was referring to the title of the book "Reporter Who Knew Too Much", not your comment about reporters as authors.  Just agreeing with you, since relatively few people would know Ms. Kilgallen today, the title could be misleading to those who might get the impression she was a hard news reporter. Yes.  She was impressive.  It seems sad that she died the way she did.  Evidently the parasite is becoming resistant to certain drugs.  Our drug companies are not developing new anti-parasitics because they are not as profitable as drugs developed to control (but not cure) other disorders.
