Best tv shows to get drunk to

I just realized this is an important issue.  I'm talking all-time shows, not just current ones, but these are what come to mind at the moment:

Curse of Oak Island
Mountain Monsters
Mystery Science Theater 3000
Walker, Texas Ranger
Party Down South (1 or 2)
T.J. Hooker
Iron Chef (the original!)
(any movie channel showing martial arts flicks from the 70's-80's and/or Godzilla movies)

Supernatural. But only around seasons 4, 5 and 6. Every other season is pretty awful. But the show is about two brothers drinking a lot, living on the road out of an Impala. That's at least drinking worthy.

True Detective. It also features heavy drinkers, which at least makes you want to drink while watching it.

This must have been what I was thinking of, but wasn't sure of the name.  I think I caught some kung fu movies on it recently but then got confused when they had nothing but Miami Vice on for like two days straight.  Looks like some beer-swillin' potential there though.

Especially when Rhonda Shear was the host. Gilbert Gottfried made my head hurt, and the only way I was ever able to get relief was to drink until I passed out.

Night Flight was another USA show back then that was lots of fun to watch while doing some serious self-medicating.

I will pass on the kung fu flicks but Miami Vice was a good show. I will have to check that station out.

Various Mexican television shows. Whether the more mainstream Sabado Gigante or the their version of "candid camera" or "funniest home videos." (their versions are often "less funny". I saw a baby falling down the stairs in one of those now-banned creepers and they had funny music each time the baby hit a stair.") The variety shows are amazing (the infamous Chesperito, RIP, dressed as a bee and nubile and buxom non-hispanic women dressed like schoolgirls, the zany scenarios. Adults dressed as a baby. Buxom blondes gyrating next to an overweight host (I think Mexico still buys into being fat, as a man, means you are successful.) Mariachi bands along side disco dancers. They also are fascinated with midgets. Midget wrestling, midgets in the wacky skits, etc. Bizarre. Probably not as good if you know Spanish and not drinking.

Yeah, I watched Night Flight until the birds started chirping in the morning way too many times, but it seemed like the right thing to do at the time. If you're feeling nostalgic, I recently discovered that two of my NF favorites, J-Men Forever and Ladies and Gentlemen: The Fabulous Stains are on YouTube.

     As an insomniac child of the 80's, Night Flight was a given every weekend from 1983 until it's 1988 dissolution. So much better than MTV.

     Up All Night was remarkable in it's ability to remove tits and ass from T&A movies, and still somehow retain a modicum of viewership.

The Japanese Iron Chef was great entertainment even without drinking!  I was always amazed by how they stocked the cooking stations with almost everything the chefs could possibly want, from lobster tails to horse mane fat.  I also liked the dubbed commentator who sounded like George Wendt and who seemed to get particularly excited every time someone added sea urchin roe to a dish.  I really miss that show.  None of the imitators it spawned even come close.

"WKRP in Cincinnati."  It's good to get down with Johnny, while oggling Jennifer and laughing at Les.  "The station with more music and Les Nessman."  Bailey wasn't bad either.

As you say, a fantastic show - with our without a cold Kirin, Sapporo, or Asahi!  I must boast here that I was an early fan, watching it still un-dubbed w/ subtitles on local Japanese tv in SF before it caught on nationally.  I remember thinking "Wtf is this, I love it!" way back then.

None of the imitators it spawned even come close.

The scaled-down Food Channel one is like a bowl of weak miso compared to an emperor's banquet.

Speaking of drinking heavily and SF, have you ever been to The Saloon in North Beach?  Found it by happy accident while there about fifteen years ago, and had a most memorable evening.  At the time, it had to be just about the best dive bar in the country--friendly people, a hot blues band, and super stiff drinks for less than half of what other places charged.  Can't beat that combination!

I fondly remember coming home from work at about 1030, firing up a snack and watching Japan's Iron Chef during my college years. Sakai was a boss. And yes, unlike the US version, there was a certain artfulness about the Japanese show.

Great pick!  I was under the impression I was the only human who'd ever watched this show.   

And the show was deeper than it let on. Nash's father dealing with aging, the mystery around his brother, Joe's antics... It only started to lose its luster the last season or two.

Yeah, but you don't need to drink because they are funny and well written and acted. I'm thinking, I might be wrong here, that shows that "best to get drunk to" are ones that watching sober one would be turning off, shaking their head saying "how could this get produced?," etc. Which is why the Mexican tv is nominated by me.
ps: I also watched a show on Mexican tv that, someone, featured a dog "Rex?" that ran a police department and solved crimes? I found it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspector_Rex I guess a somewhat actual show. Seemed more bizarre drunk and not understanding the dubbed Spanish.

Yes!  Talk about your made for getting drunk TV!  My only problem with it is that I need subtitles, because I don't understand British very well and can't decipher some of the dialogue. 

I still haven't seen the new episodes they did a couple of years ago.  Have you, and do you know if they're available on-line?  Thanks!
