Best Disinfectant

Ignoring politics, at least for a few posts, what is the best disinfectant; both for rooms (door handles, keyboards, mice, faucets, toliets, etc) and for hand/body washing?
-Lysol (spray type)
-Bleach (Clorox) spray type (or homemade?) (Straight bleach or watered down?)
-difference between the pre-made "wipes" of either type, spray bottle, or liquid?
-Alcohol handgel (I noticed only 65% ethyl alcohol, maybe an atomizer with more pure alcohol better?)
-Regular soap
-Anti-bacterial soap
-Hydrogen Peroxide
-Denatured alcohol
-Vodka or Everclear (has added internal benefits to buying.)
Just wondering because I'm sure stores are ramping up sales (and maybe prices) due to the Ebola scare. But also coming into flu season and with whatever might be coming up from down south.

bleach i capful per gallon to sanitize any surface (note sanitize is not the same as sterilize)
denatured alcohol will also sanitize (isopropyl  50% or better alcohol)
those are not good for hashing hands/body
use regular soap and clean water, being careful to scrub both hands together for at least 20 seconds , and make sure all the parts of the hands are  scrubbed.
hydrogen peroxide works to, but loses its power quickly once opened.
handgels are easy to carry so might be an option  when going out.

I have a bunch of muriatic acid from the pool maintenance. Maybe I should use that for cleaning and washing...(kidding.) Well, aware of the mixing bleach/ammonia/vinegar etc but thanks for the reminder. (I know they are very diluted so a non-issue, I guess, but I've wondered what is happening in our sewer systems considering all the various household chemicals being washing down there mixing around....)

Not needed- the tumeric and Carnivora combo keeps that pretty well cleaned out, much to my chagrin. Works better than some good Indian food after a night of drinking.

No worries here, I expected same. I still appreciate some legitimate answers and still I am a little unclear. really, what is the best stuff. I recall Lysol (Liquid version) emergency "showers" in the hallway by biolabs along with, I think, distilled water, eye-wash stations (I forget). But also have worked in, questionable, places where employees were advised to scrub with store-bought bleach when accidents happened (non-bio but still hardly, I think, code) for various inks. And, of course, as I mention as a kid I always was told to use mineral spirits or kerosene to "wash paint off you" when trying to help paint stuff. Haha.

10% bleach-water solution was standard disinfectant mix in the hospital lab I worked in.
Lysol, not the spray but the original concentrate in the brown bottle, That is Carbolic Acid.
I sometimes make a real strong batch of colloidal silver and use that with hydrogen peroxide to wash cuts. I buy 35% peroxide and dilute.

My grandmother took a bucket of that mix into a closet one Spring for cleaning.  She, luckily, fell back "out" of the closet when she passed out.  She was really sick for over a week.  Hence my aversion to deep cleaning anything.   :

It is a common misunderstanding that sunlight kills bacteria. If it did, there would be few germs in our day to day environment. But bacteria are everywhere and many of them truly like sunshine.

For most household cleanings a 1:99 mixture of bleach to water is very effective. If there are significant contaminants, such as blood or vomit, a 1:49 mixture will effectively disinfect. The problem with bleach is it decomposes in a short time. A fresh mixture should probably be made every day or so.

Now use on your hands? Good ole soap and water, but there are stronger soaps on the market.
