Patrick Stewart talked about not being very enthusiastic about TNG in a doc directed by W. Shatner called "The Captains"
It has some pretty interesting tidbits about how PS felt about taking an acting gig for a TV series. Of course William  Shatner, and his ego,  kept interrupting the other captains so he could talk about himself. There is a cringe worthy scene where the Shat sings with Avery Brooks (DS9) while Brooks is playing jazz piano.

Abrams said the rebooted Star Trek wasn't made for Star Trek Fans, it was made for movie fans.  Apparently he didn't really know anything about Star Trek before being asked to direct it.  Also, he seems like kind of a dick.  Nevertheless, I enjoyed those movies much more than I expected.  Into Darkness was pretty impressive on a six story IMAX screen.

Old news to most Trekkies, I am posting this because I can't get over that beautiful laser etching on the stainless steel cutting wheel. The price remains too steep to justify a personal gratification purchase, especially as I have a favored pizza cutter that's going on sixteen years.
