Several A.M. Radio Stations for sale in SW.

So, I'm just wondering what or how would things be if Art owned his own AM radio station in the SW? I went to several websites that had a few AM stations for sale. Price started around 395k & up depending on power & location. There is one hi power 50,000 watt-50kw am station for sale around Vegas.
So I am not sure how the business of late night radio talk show works specially if you own your own station. I'm guessing Art could piggy back from his house to Station local. Businesses Advertising would pay, day time leasing of air time, right?
Seems to me if this was possible, Art with his own station,  could tell all the nay sayers & bs critics to buzz off.
Just would be awesome to turn on the am & tune to Art Bells own radio waves.
Prices were $395k to $2.5 million.  But the only reason the ones were In the millions were due to purchase of land option if wanted. There were several options like buy station & lease land & so on..

So, is this even possible?  Worth it?  Maybe Art world sell pieces of radio station to his fans to help pay & to let the fans feel apart of something that has always been truly awesome.  Make it a LLC .

Forgot to add this link. This is just one of several that had AM options for sale. Some were am/fm as well. But I've never heard art say anything good about FM.

Wow, i just finished reading some history about XERF am radio stations along the border in Mexico that were extremely powerful. In September 1935 Dr. Brinkley gained a new license for Villa Acuña from the Government of Mexico with new call letters of XERA. His new operating company was Cia Mexicana Radiofusori Fronteriza and the station came on the air from the same location as the old XER but with a directional antenna. His new transmitter power was 500 kW, but with his new antenna he claimed an output of 1MW. XERA called itself "the world's most powerful broadcasting station" and Variety magazine claimed that it could be heard in New York City.

If Art Bell owned a station, I imagine it would broadcast for a few weeks, then go dark for a year or two, broadcast for a few weeks, then go dark for a year or two, broadcast for a few weeks...and so on.

Art probably still has enough of a relationship with the people that bought KNYE from him. I imagine that if he wanted to he could walk into KNYE and do a nightly or weekly show from there without having to fork down the cash and actually buy a station. From there he could syndicate it to more stations/networks. That is, if he wanted to do that.

It was late 1997 or 1998 when I started listening to him.  I worked for the railroad, so many a late night on the train with my little am radio. Night time radio is damn boring now.
Wishful thinking is all I have left. I can't take C2C any longer, except Knapp I like him of course.

Art has said he thinks the future of talk radio shows in on the internet. When he called Spec sheet he said he didn't even want to be on the radio, much less buy stations. It is a silly idea.

I think he should put his new show on the radio, at least until he gains an audience and can secure a large call in base.

Most successful internet based shows were grown from the ground up.  While that is exactly how Art "made" C2C, I think that audience is substantially different.  There is almost no way that he can expect to start on the 'net with no station support and advertisements and have an audience the size that he needs for his show (providing he still does open lines.) 

I do not know what his numbers were with XM, but that was with a base of listeners and money behind it.  Short of throwing his hat in with somebody who is already successful on the net I would think his best be would be a "dual" broadcast.  Select AM stations and the 'net.

If he chooses to go it alone on his internet station I wish him the best.  I hope he can attract the numbers he needs and expects as it would be a real shame to end a long career with something fizzling out.

Art will not buy a radio station, or a group of radio stations. He will be 70yrs old soon. He has never been a serial entrepreneur. He has never owned more than one station and didn't own it out-right. And who knows how much money he really has. My guess is not as much as people think. There is a semi-reliable Internet source that says Art is worth about $10mil, and I'd take the unders all day long on that.

Exactly what I have written... JBG, Cumulus... 2nd-3rd tier CDNs could offer Art some money, reach and flexibility. Far more likely.

Well, after reading all this I already knew the answer, i was hoping to hear something positive.
I really don't care how Art does it & yes he is getting up there in age, but I would like to hear him one last time on a final run with a proper good bye, If that is even possible. Yeah a lot of fans got upset about how things ended last couple of times, but hey I say forgive & forget before there is no chance of ever hearing from him again. He could use Dixie cups & kite string & I would find a way to listen.

Ronald Reagan went 10 rounds against the Russian bear and KO'd him at age 77 so you never know.  Well, the kinder gentler Russian bear, anyway, and he spent three more years passing out but you get the point.  I don't think Art's heart will be in it though, and I don't think most people will be willing to give him another chance.  He sang his swan song as far as I'm concerned.
