Obama's Pastors takes Lord's name in vain!

Obama Spiritual Mentor: God Damn America

Oh, it`s ok! Obama said he was never in attendance when the vile old troll (Mr. Wright) went on one of his trademark rants.

I know...I laughed too

"God damn America" from the Rev Wright is NOT 'taking the Lords name in vain'.  He wants God to Damn America, it's a literal request, not some guy cursing because he stubbed his toe.

''We are going to fundamentally change America"

This stuff, the close association with Bill Ayres, cronies like Rashid Khalidi, it was all there for everyone to see and hear before we elected the guy.

But, you know, it was cool to vote for Obama - and he was going to bring us together.

Obama's good friend and mentor has some crazy ideas. If you can find it he has an interesting theory on different between black brains and white brains and teaching children and also how the black brain is musical. It is a bizarre theory but sort of interesting (like listening to those wild C2C guests.) Though he makes no speculation on what would happen to a mixed-brain, like Obama would have?

A musical president?

Not implying in any way that a black person couldn't be president.

The Bush family didn't just have a buddy who was pretty religious, but really did damn America from his safe house in the middle east...short memories?

Yeah, I hope You're not talking about UBL, are you?  That little nugget of leftist propaganda was thoroughly debunked long, long ago.

Well, I think Wright has been retired for some years now, though the church itself is troubling and whoever they have as pastor now may be as bad.

Some of us tried to call people's attention to this in 2008, but were mostly shouted down by the hope-and-change crowd. Pardon me if I sound bitter.

This put Obama in an awkward position. He wanted people to think that he hadn't been in the church on many Sundays, therefore missing some of the more inflammatory sermons. So that means he wasn't a very active member of the congregation. Now I'm not one of those who thinks the president is a closet Muslim, but I think that his Christianity is unenthusiastic at best. That's OK, but why be dishonest and try to suggest otherwise? Personally I think that Obama is probably an agnostic or something along those lines, and that's why his faith observances are halfhearted. In Dreams From My Father, if you read between the lines, it seems pretty evident that he got involved with Wright and his church because Wright was some sort of heavy hitter in Chicago( which is also kind of scary) and it was purely a stategic move.

Incidentally, has anybody read The Presidents Devotional by Joshua DuBois and what did you think of it?

Really, who?

I have a question.  How is it you can make all sorts of connections and links that mostly aren't even there, but will not admit people like Stalin and Mao were communists?

Isn't Orca Winfrey also a member, and probably for the same reason?

It's the quirk of US politics; you can be responsible (depending on your profession) for the laying off of thousands of your employees, the demise of corporations, the incarceration of innocent people or the support of death to innocent people in far off countries, but if you admit to being an atheist you're deemed not fit to be a candidate. As if admitting to being a devoted (Insert denomination) makes you good and pure and fluffy and great.

Nope; I meant many many people in Saudi Arabia. Many of whom are currently pouring money into the ISIS barbarians. It's too politically sensitive to call it out though, because those self same Saudis are buying lots of arms from the west as well as supplying lots of oil.

There you go again, Yorkie.  Why do you stubbornly insist on being the conspiracy and advocating for what the goobers do?  You know it's wrong, because Stellar said so.

So a buddy living in his safe house becomes many many people when it's pointed out that the Bush family's so-called connection with OBL is BS?  Short memory?

Unless you know what Communism is as a philosophical societal model, you won't know why Mao and Stalin weren't Communists. It also throws light on why it suited the west, Stalin and Mao to say they were Communists. Divide and conquer for each party.

Did not the Bush family have close financial connections with the Bin Laden family?

Beyond possessing all the geopolitical savvy of an 11 year old girl -- from Berkley, no less -- your tap dancing prowess is somewhat lacking.

And didn't you lot have a huge scandal with BAE and the Saudis in various arms deals, kick-backs, bribes, shell-companies, etc? So what? The region is corrupt and we shouldn't have to do deals with them except for environmental regulations and taxation schemes that keep us buying their oil and gas. Various Saudis, and to an extent Qatarites, fund all kinds of radical Islam and have connections to 9/11 (recall the Lloyd's suit) and, supposedly, the redacted portions of 9/11 Commission Report. And we still deal with them because we'd rather buy relatively cheap oil (is it cheap considering the costs of our military to keep region open to shipping though) than use our own reserves, conserve, innovate, or buy elsewhere.

Yep, and I'm against that too. The whole arms industry is corrupt, and it's hypocritical when the west complains about weapons being used against our own soldiers or the indigenous civilians.

That being the case, we (i.e. politicians) shouldn't get too sanctimonious about terrorism and it's support.

That is true. Your situation is different but even there I reckon it would be better to deal with Norway, or even Russia, than the Arab for gas and oil who take the money they make from us and fund madrassas and terror campaigns around the world. But buy our weapons so that makes it ok! We have enough reserves in the US and enough friendly (or relatively friendly) countries nearby with plenty of reserves to get off Gulf oil and gas. If we regulated less, opened more pipelines, and invested more. And bringing our navy and military home from keeping the oil shipping lanes open in the Muslim world would save a lot of $$$. Why should we help secure their borders and keep ours open?

VtaGeezer

So let's get this straight; it's a scandal for a liberal politician to have sat occasionally in the congregation of a vary popular minister (also a veteran) who once uttered a controversial "God damn America" rhetorically in the context of centuries of slavery and racism, but its OK for conservatives to cozy up weekly to pedophile-protecting Cardinals, to support creationist preachers promoting ignorance, or to hug religious bigots.  The blind flag-snappers of the right never miss a chance at hypocrisy.

Those is the rules Vta...Right is good (Even when it's really really bad), centre left/liberal is bad, no matter how good it is..

(as written by flag wearing bigots)

Although Obama isn't anywhere near being left, but that's another thread.
