Maybe you can help me out then: A Si Fi film mid-late 80's. Soundtrack throughout by Tangerine Dream.. but it isn't 'Wavelength'...I've been trying to track it down for years without success.. Trawled the discography and nothing shouts out as being the one.

Firestarter?  More horror than Sci Fi, but that might be the one you are thinking of. Vangelis' soundtrack for Blade Runner is also very Tangerine Dream like.

No not Firestarter..and I distinctly remember the credits saying 'All music by Tangerine Dream'..I've since seen Wavelength and listened to the track, but it definitely wasn't that. I wish it was, then I'd have known.

I think TD did the cool music for the train scene in Risky Business.  Not a sci-fi movie but that scene definitely seemed as such to my nerdy adolescent self.

Hmm when you say sci-fi could you elaborate? It looks like they did a few made for TV soundtracks as well. IN other cases existing albums of theirs were chopped up by directors wanting a certain synth flavour. (eg. Vampires in Venice, which uses portions of Logos)

Also I'm a huge TD fan and Michael Manns "The Keep" is one of my faves as well... though according to cult director Richard Stanley it was really about the Cathar/Templar Castle of Montsegur....

From what I can remember it was a space adventure..This is what is frustrating, because I didn't take much notice of the film but the soundtrack and incidental TG tunes was why I watched/listened to it...no I wasn't smoking stuff! Look I've Hijacked this unintentionally, no doubt one day it will be re-broadcast and I'll shout 'YES'.
