And 45 more people are burned alive in Iraq by ISIS. Iraq is our responsibility no matter whether we were right to wrong to go in there in the first place. .  We owe it to those poor people to leave their country in better shape than the way we found it.  If the President is not up to the task then he should resign.  How many more people must be brutally murdered before we lift our hand to help them?

This President needs to go.  He is doing nothing but hurting this country.

Dear Leader has blood ashes on his hands. HE is the reason ISIS is free to gallivant about the Middle East chopping and burning the very people with whom we made a solemn promise never to abandon. It`s disgusting and it saddens me tremendously.

Entry level jobs and midnight soccer will win the hearts and minds of ISIS. I'm glad a pre-kindergarten teacher like Marie Harf understands that. ISIS deserves a 45 minute time out in the corner for their Iraq slaughter yesterday. That will show 'em.

Baghdad, Tehran and Istanbul all fear a stronger Kurdish separatism far more than ISIS.  Given a choice between killing ISIL or Kurds, all three would prefer to kill Kurds.   While the US-led coalition bombed ISIL, the Turkish Air Force bombed PKK Kurds in Eastern Turkey. I'd bet that when Turkey allowed Iraqi Kurds to reinforce Kobane, they hoped for a different outcome. A US-supplied 155mm gun, or US anti-tank weapons found in the hands of the PKK would raise hell in Ankara. The reason we don't arm the Kurds directly is Turkey; already a tenuous ally in the ISIL fight and if Islamist-leaning Erdagon balks, the gates to Europe are wide open.  This is the quandary of arming the Kurds directly with heavy weapons and is almost totally ignored in the main stream media.

ISIL's propaganda success is amazing...Americans are being sucked into ISIL's script by their carefully staged savagery, and recruits are streaming in. As display of how well it's working, last night Pope O'Reilly on Fox "News" called on clerics across America to preach Sunday for an American-led Holy War. CNN's Blitzer is near hysterical, portraying a platoon of ISIL killers as if they were division, and asking its analysts if this is the beginning of the Apocalypse.

Turkey has a lot of "issues," to use that over-used phrase, going on. Lots of internal politics in addition to the ever going on Kurdish problem.

I agree that we shouldn't be reacting to the well-crafted ISIS videos. Although I encourage all Muslims who desire, to leave Europe and the USA and go to the Caliphate to fight. More that leave the better and if the videos and social media help them, then that is great. I would rather them fight and pray there than here.

The ideal circumstance is stop expansion of SI, wait a bit, and corral ISIS and the other radical rebels into a defined area. Let Islamists flood there to help and join the wonderful Caliphate. More the merrier. Than kill them all. Men, women, children. In the mean time we could set up safe zones for the Christians, Jews, Kurds, etc etc (or force one of our allies to do so) who could move back in once ISIS is destroyed. Also spend some time to sort out the Muslims already living in our countries by deportation or imprisonment of anyone connected to radicalism, suspect country of origins, or criminality. As well as investigating, spying on, or banning the Muslim pressure groups, Mosques, and political groups who agitate for radicalism.

Turkey is a poor excuse, not a good reason. Besides, what has that clown, Erdagon, done for us lately? NOTHING. That notwithstanding, The fact is the kurds aren`t asking for heavy artillery. They humbly request small arms, some heavy machine guns and sufficient rounds. Maybe throw some extra logistics and training in the package. That hardly qualifies as a threat to Turkey.

The Kurds would probably be thankful if NOAH, The Social Security Administration, the IRS, etc and all the other agencies just gave a small % of all that ammunition and arms they claim to need in all of those purchases. And those small arms aren't going to be a threat to Turkey but could help in the fight against ISIS, at least at the street level where some of the fighting is happening. And I would rather the Kurds have this ammo to fight ISIS than NOAH has them to fight global warming!

You are correct on all counts

Syria, Iraq, Turkey, and Iran do not want the Kurds within their borders to establish an independent Kurdistan.  We probably shouldn't be supporting the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) politically, as they seek to establish that independent Kurdistan as a Marxist-Leninist state, although it is currently in our interest to assist anyone willing to fight ISIS

Our interests are more aligned with those of the KDP, Kurdistan Democratic Party, the largest faction

We are new to the colonial game, which burned the Europeans badly and supremely fucked the region until eternity.

Local actors must solve this problem. Like the Gulf states, who often supply funds and logistics to the local players.

That doesn't mean you play 180 rounds of golf on private courses waiting for the band to get back together and kick the shit out of ISIS.

CNN and Fox exhibit plenty of the America The Hysterical face for ISIS; no need for the POTUS to join the hair-on-fire crowd. Obama intentionally displays the same unflustered image that GHW Bush played.  Any Pres is full control wherever they are; they never "clock out".  While the SEALs were killing Ben Laden in Pakistan, Obama was at the Press Dinner making fun of The Donald and his TV show.  In this era of 24 hour news, and probably too much media access, it does no good to show a monster like al-Baghdadi that he commands your attention.

Or he could just sound like a moron and call ISIS "the JV squad".
You know- "the JV squad" that took over Fallujah.

That was indeed a flip remark. It will be Obama's "I looked in his eyes and saw his soul".

Up All Night

"We are not are was with Islam"..... That is correct Mr. President, we are not at "war" with Islam, but, Islam, Mr. President is at war with us.

And their response is "Radical religions don't kill people.... People kill people." Yes, people who associate with radical religions....

Possible Forecast for the Islamic State....

Storms coming from the East. Winds gusting to 500mph, and temperatures reaching 6,000 F.

Geezer, that remark is reflective of his general breezy arrogance.
The prep school boy with his scarf dashingly wrapped about the neck (not tightly enough).
Now he calls them ISIL, so as not to offend them.

And now Obama won't even say that people who behead, bomb, or shoot yelling "Allahu Akbar" or have Islamic flags or call themselves Islamic State are Muslim! :o

They prey on losers and mixed-up kids.
Not to put too fine a point on it- but failures.
This guy couldn't get life to work for him, so he becomes a killer. Nice bargain, eh?
Not far different from Eliot Rodger, James Holmes, Adam Lanza, Klebold and Harris, so on.
He was so brainwashed he began questioning whether sexual activity was WRONG for a young man.

Losers and mixed-up kids yes, but I don't agree with the comparison to the psycho mass murderers.  I'd analogize it to gang recruitment; instilling a sense of belonging to something much bigger with strong bonding.

Typical American BS (by BS I mean Boy Scout, not the other thing...)

edit:  yes the TRIPLE entendre in there was intentional, I'll let the sharp among you figure out the third bit of BS in there...

3OctaveFart

Geezer- I grant that what being radicalized means is quite subjective. They do tend to avoid nuance.
I am suggesting the mass murderers also were dealing with complex problems and wanted tangible, immediate results . . . that weren't coming to them.
Can't be a fitness instructor? There's always heads to saw off on the banks of the Euphrates. Can't bag a co-ed in Santa Barbara? Some innocent kid in a deli gets to pay for it.
None of these lowlifes could cope so they decided people needed to die. They didn't want to work for the solutions to their problems.

I forgot what day it is, of course this thread is going to be slow...

It's the much celebrated (in the muslim world) Man-Love Thursday!  So happy Man-Love Thursday, to all you of the faith!

I will quote from the quarn (I can't recall which sura, maybe it's among those that those Gnostic Christian kids found in a cave and used for fire kindling before a collector discovered them and sekruted them away causing much consternation and confusion among the faithful to this day) I quote {from memory}:

"Veryily I say to you the faithful, for this is not known among the accursed infidel;  For procreation is the vessel of allah (Blessed Be His Name) the woman for this you shall use.  For pleasure is the arm that wields the scimitar in allah's (BBHN) service; the man this you shall use and by each other be used.  For paradise, the faithful enjoy yet another fruit of allah's (BBHN) bounty, yea, ye shall find paradise in the service of this, the exhalted goat."  quran, sura (???) {it's in there I swear}

I have often wondered had they microwave ovens what place in the list would be the the Casaba, Honeydew, Muskmelon &t al?  Is ecstasy higher in the planes of existence than paradise I wonder?  Perhaps we await another find in some forgotten cave of the desert for the answer?

Again, Happy Man-Love Thursday!

Does anyone else wonder where the all-knowing NSA is in this fight?  ISIL seems able to use the net brilliantly with total impunity.  The internet is their most potent weapon; only WMD would be more significant.  So the NSA can't find the trail of a GB-sized mpeg file?

They are too busy surveilling US citizens  and fighting that war against those who actually want to watch the drivel produced by Hollywood but don't want to spend a days wages to see the crap in a theater or watch the poorly written televisions shows without having to sit through minutes of advertising drivel. ISIS doesn't give campaign contributions and so is not on the radar.
