In the Heart of the Sea, well worth your time.

Caught "Roadhouse" a little bit ago and still love that movie and the music in it... Rest in peace, Patrick and Jeff....

I watched the Martian for the first time a couple weeks back and then Interstellar a couple days ago. I had no idea of the cast crossovers between them. Both were very well done, but I liked the more science-based Martian better.

I agree with you. Although, both were pretty good.

TIL Interstellar has the same producer and science consultant that worked with Sagan for the movie Contact - movie producer Lynda Obst and physicist Kip Thorne. They came up with the idea for Interstellar and the movie is based on their 8-page story. Also learned the ending of the Contact book was pretty interesting (spoilers).

Not a movie. But is any show (or radio-play, book) as funny and still prescient as the various "Yes, Minister" series?  And about the most funny? (And I'm not English.)

I'll just never get why Interstellar gets such high praise.  But I've ranted before about it, so will say no more.   :)

As for the Martian, I tried to read the book but it read like a run-on word problem about potato irrigation and fuel chemistry.  I haven't checked out the movie yet but I can only assume the script must have been tweaked alot.   ???

That's one of those flicks I always end up watching parts of again when it's on tv.

Like it used to be with TBS and a Burt Reynolds high-jinx flick. Hilarious, always on and always watch- even though commercials and that odd start time of TBS. (Barring they were playing a ball game- they always were playing good movies with good sound-tracks.)

The second ever Man From U.N.C.L.E episode just started on MeTV.

x2. Good movie.

I re-watched Raising Arizona last night. Really amazing dialogue in that movie. The entire movie is quotable. Holly Hunter was just as cute as could be. I will probably re-watch another Coen flick tonight. Perhaps Barton Fink.

Yeah, Raising Arizona is on my list of movies to see again. The Coen brothers are always able to pull ticket money from me.

A few hours ago, I watched Radio on Netflix. Ed Harris and Cuba Gooding Jr. Ed Harris, a high school football coach, befriends a mentally retarded guy. Things happened. Then it ended. Evidently it's based on a true story. It was a nice little story I guess. It passed the time.

Delmar O'Donnell: Oh son, for that you sold your everlasting soul?

Tommy Johnson: Well, I wasn't usin' it.

10 Cloverfield Lane

Best film I've seen so far this year. John Goodman is a lock for best actor. Amazing performance!

Agreed, a very good nail-biter.

Dang!  Could go on and on with great quotes from O Brother...

"Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?"

I'll have to check out  10 Cloverfield...love John Goodman.

Walther Sobchak has got to be one of the greatest characters in all of cinema.

Completely enjoyed this unique thriller.  Suggestion: don't overthink what's really happening.

I looked it up on imdb. "After getting in a car accident, a woman is held in a shelter with two men, who claim the outside world is affected by a widespread chemical attack. "
It sounds like a bottle movie. maybe like Bug with Michael Shannon. But with Goodman. it's being watched tonight if I can find it at Redbox down the road. I'll be obliterated drunk by the time I watch it so if it's bad, I'll forget it. If it's good, I'll probably post all about it.

It's pretty new. Dunno about redbox. There might be a cam torrent out there. Wife and I saw it at the movies. Some movies I want to see again. I don't think I need to see this one again, but it is a good movie.
