Anybody else see this or remember it?

I remember that one very well.  I think I would've preferred either Jessica Lange or (yes) Farrah Fawcett instead of Jane Fonda.  But I was married to a Vietnam Veteran at the time and that may have colored my opinion.  Unfortunately, it still colors my opinion.  My first vision when I hear her name is that ~~delightful~~ picture.  Well, never mind.
I just remember being extremely emotionally burned out by the end.  I thought Bruce Dern was excellent.  But I don't really want to ever see that movie again.

In any mainstream modern horror movie, filmmakers may spend millions of dollars on groups of CGI artists to theoretically help me suspend my disbelief and to frighten/intrigue me with less than convincing monsters, demons, and spirits.

While a good special effects team composed of two or three people - paid from a few to tens of thousands of dollars - with a mirror (and at times just the mirror frame) and careful set building - can convince me that the son of a gun is a portal, keeping digital effects at a minimum, and further enhance my basic infatuation with the "mirrors as doorways" idea.

Mirrors rule! Whether they are the cylindrical poles in Phantasm or a simple dressing room mirror in some long ago viewed episode of Night Gallery.

Watched The Interview. It's as awful as you would expect. It really is terrible. But you have to watch it, to fully appreciate the absurdity of what's transpired due to it. A number of historical firsts, for this turkey. And I think some of it is shockingly insulting to NK people. Not sure what Rogen expected would happen.

Just don't pay to watch it.

Any Bette Davis film is OK with me.  Kate Hepburn, too.
I check out the $5 DVD bin at Walmart once a week.  The youngster in charge of the Electronics Department has no concept of what a classic movie is.  I've picked up a bunch of "Oldie but Goodie" discs there.

Sadly, the younger people don't know what they're missing. My kids loved some of the older movies - What Ever Happened to Baby Jane and Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte were 2 of their favorites.

My youngest had to do an assignment in High School about capitol punishment. She did her paper and cited some media presentations on the topic. The movie she listed was I Want to Live! starring Susan Hayward. The teacher had not heard of it and borrowed the DVD from my daughter. The teacher liked the movie and was surprised that any young people would watch a black and white movie. She got a high grade on the project.

'Big Eyes' Fanastic. Amy Adams mastered the role beautifully. Highly recommend. Especially if you're a professional artist and familiar with Margaret Keane.

'Nightcrawler' wow. Interesting and loved it. Jake Gyllenhaal definitely earned his Golden Globe nomination. As Amy Adams (above).

'Exodus' Crap. Pissed off. Love Ridley Scott and have Eve written on his work while I was writing film reviews for a magazine here. His signature look is intoxicating and appreciate stunning work by DP. But, that could barely carry the film for me. If not for Christian Bale, I would have walked out of the film before it ended. Snide little boy as Voice of God irked me.

'Hobbit 3' Enjoyed it. Didn't expect to.

Finally saw 'Equalizer'... Denzel is just so damn perfect. It reminded me a bit of 'Man On Fire' which is my favorite Denzel and Tony Scott film.

When I see this guy, I see a fat Pauly Shore. God knows what ever became of him.

Can't go wrong with Denzel.  The Pelican Brief, The Bone Collector, and (my very favorite) Fallen.

I liked "Wild" and was disappointed to see how many people were trashing it on imdb.com. 


I got to see "Interstellar" by chance when my doctor appointment in Lynnwood on Fri. afternoon was cancelled.  There's a multiplex nearby, and I went over. I walked in the door at 3:10 and there was a showing of "Interstellar"at 3:10.  I cried so much at this movie that I didn't even need to remove my eye make-up when I got home.  At the very least, it should get Academy Award nominations for photography and effects, I think.


The Great Gatsby was all right. It makes me want to revisit the book, which I had to read in college, and the Robert Redford movie, which I don't remember too much. This is the first time I've made it through a Baz Luhrmann film.  I realize he is famous for visual feasts with opulent, extravagant sets, exquisite costumes, singing and dancing, BUT what the @#%* was up with that ghastly soundtrack?  Who puts rap music in a movie about people in Long Island in the 1920's?

Well, this is'nt a movie, but I am currently listening to Coast To Coat Am from June 7, 1994. One of the first appearances by RICHARD C HOAGLAND. lol

At that particular time, Art had only 56 affialtes. He would later grow to over 500 affiliates!!

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but please check out on Netflix:
"Who is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him)" - A superb documentary for any fan of popular music of the 60s and 70s or later.  Even if you are not familiar with the genius of Harry Nilsson, you owe it to yourself to view this film if you at all appreciate Pop Music (not the garbage fobbed off as music today).
