The "No Hassles" Things to Do Thread

Started by Mind Flayer Monk, April 07, 2014, 01:51:42 AM

I was thinking about a post Unscreened Caller made about online tickets and "insurance". I notice there are so many events these days-baseball games, movies, any kind of concert or event-where there are so many of these annoying policies designed to take money from you. I go to the park and there are people running businesses there(Yoga classes, crossfit training and the like) I think it is frustrating enough that I just don't like going anywhere because of the hassle.

Five different fees tripling the price, long lines at restaurants, when you get to the restaurant people looking at you eating waiting to steal your seat, online ticket convenience fees, endless tolls, no camping spots available, or camping fees higher than the price of a Motel 6.

So I decided to write down all the no-bullshit entertainment activities I could think of.
Here is what I have so far, please feel free to add to the list:

1. Bowling (the least Bullshit thing I can think of)
2. Hiking (for the day)
3. Playing Cards
4. Denny's

Write the first line of the best novel ever penned.

I do this all the time, my favorite is "And then one day".. No idea what line two could be.

8. Going for a long drive with a stop for ice cream
9. Motorcycle rides
10. Gardening
11. Visiting your local science center

HorrorRetro

Great topic!

12.  Gardening/beekeeping/chicken raising.  We had a great time just vegging and watching our chickens poke around the grass yesterday.

13.  Outdoor photography.  You don't need an expensive camera to get great shots these days. Get a book from the library or read the articles here and go have an adventure http://digital-photography-school.com/digital-photography-tips-for-beginners/

14.  Go berry picking.  We have an unlimited supply of blackberries around us, so I pick gallons each year and make jam and freeze the rest.

15.  Have a neighborhood block party and get to know who you live near.

16.  Read.

17.  Wander around vintage shops.

Fab topic!  I'd add downing a couple (or more) ice cold beers in the back yard and watching clouds.  A Dr. Who marathon.  Table top games are fun, too.

A clear, cool night, a warm fire in the backyard fire pit, and making s'mores with the family.

1. Stop taking long smoke breaks and surfing Bellgab
2. Study my programming  materials better.
3. Stop wacking off 10 times a day because I'm running out of socks.
4. Buy more socks.

Tarbaby

22. Breaking out of the UFO I wake up in.
23. Try to find my way home.

J/K, nice thread, Mind-Flayer Monk. Thank you for your service. :) And really good suggestions by all!
