Took Art Bell for a ride

Started by Georges blind rage, February 17, 2014, 12:38:01 PM

Wanna go for a ride?

Lets talk about guests that have taken Art bell for a ride. By ride I mean guests that were obviously not telling the truth, but had Art believing what they were saying.

There are many to pick from, but my favorite has to be "Dr. Jonathan Reed". You remember, the "Doctor" that was hiking in the woods with his dog that encountered an alien with a obelisk and after beating the alien over the head he took it home and put it in the freezer. Well to summarize, the alien survived the attack, used the freezer as some sort of hyperbolic chamber of healing and then would speak to "Dr. Jonathan Reed". In between all that there were stories of shootings, friends being kidnapped and Government agency's stealing the "Doctors" identity.

I am old enough to remember the original airing of the conversation with "Dr. Reed" and his friend and I couldn't believe at the time Art was eating this shit up. He even had him back for a couple more shows and the guy would tell even more outlandish stories, all the while Art supporting him and claiming to have seen the evidence. I always wanted to ask Art, Why?

Since then the man claiming to be "Dr. Jonathan Reed" has been proven to be a complete liar with numerous people coming forward with the true identity of this loser.

If you dont remember and want a good laugh, go find the C2C episode interviewing "Dr. Reed" and afterwards take a look at this website http://www.ufowatchdog.com/jonathan_reed.htm . It is dedicated to the man behind the story.

That Art went along with this story on REPEATED BROADCASTS really pisses me off.  He bans Kreskin but Reed - an obvious con man - gets a pass.  Fucking weak.

I don't think Art believed any of it, but it wasn't his job to call them out on their bullshit.

Art has said on his show that "much of what occurs on this show is BS." meaning he wanted to entertain the audience (i think) and let them draw their own conclusions.
the dallas thompson show was another one of those shows that are suspect.

No sorry, he was obviously supporting "Dr. Reed". Art stated that he had seen the evidence and that it was irrefutable.

The fact that Reed got a first week show on DM really upset me.

His was probably a story Art was always asked about.  Kinda like Mad Man Markum, Bugs, or Mel Waters.

I would have preferred any of that over Reed and Greer.

I agree. It is very obvious what this man (and his cohorts) are saying is a lie and the fact that Art continues to support them shows how disconnected he is to a large population of his fans.

At least the other guys knew when to quit or left some crazy legacy like alleged maps to a Bigfoot corpse, there was fun in it.  Reed has nothing but his own fabrications.

In older articles about Art, he always said that he was merely the moderator and that he left it up to his audience to make a decision on the guest. Keep that in mind.

I only listened to a handful of the Dark Matter shows - I was waiting for Art to get past his old overexposed buddies and on to new subjects and guests.

Instead of moving forward, he quit when he ran out of his debunked cronies to interview.

Reed and Greer made for some of the toughest DM shows to finish. Also could have done without the Ghostbuster Gals and the new GIS with Chunga. Overall I wish Art had jumped in with some fresh new blood. But I'm still happy with what we got.

Guys, it's all about entertainment and good radio. If you think Greer and Reed were the only fakers, then you need to start listening to the old shows. Have you forgotten about: Sean David Morton and his prophecies that never ever came true? What about "Dr. Doom" Major Ed Dames and his "Kill Shot" that was supposed to destroy the Earth? These guys were on all the time. The most annoying was and still is Richard C. Hogland and his "evidence". Even the EVP's were a huge stretch at times or the time travellers that called in.

Bottom line is that this is entertainment and if you don't like Art's show, then perhaps listen to George. I remember listening to the Reed alien show and it was freaky....especially at 2 AM in the dark.

Nobody thinks that.   There's a big difference between fiction and scam.

RCH is right 100% of the time. Just look at the data!!!

RCH: I was just voted worlds sexiest man alive
Art: Howso?
RCH: Look at the data!

RCH was one of the guests I just could not stand. His BS wasn't even entertaining.

Always some big event on the horizon and some massive NASA coverup.

I'm surprised he gets as much exposure as he does.

Art has said that many times but I believe that once someone has been proven to be a fraud then they should not be allowed to tell their fake tales again.

That eliminates 90% of the guest.

Also take into account subject matter. You may think psychic vampires are 100% true. But MV could think that's a completely fake. How do you quantify fake.

All of the projectionist like john vague, scallion, remote viewers, etc would be gone. That's a big chunk of the guests. Their dismissal would probably mean more psychic vampire and unquantifable guest.

That's lame for Art to say that. Golly Gee, like he doesn't know his paranormal guests are frauds or delusional goofs  trying to make a buck.
We could use Art's rule on Art and never listen to him again.

Thou protest to much Mr. Bell when going on and on about those Ghost EVP guests being the real deal because they don't take any money. Some people will rationalize away a lot of bad behavior to get a little fame. (ie GabGasters) <joke warning for MV :)

Maybe these paranormal shows should come with a warning like Professional Wrestling.
"Staged Event For Entertainment"

I believe Art from time to time wants to get out of broadcast commitments and invents for his fan a plausible story he can sell them. I also think that he probably constructs these excuses over time (sub consciously looks for reasons to get mad) and ends up believing his own BS stories.

I think hoaxers are the worst of the worst and Reed should never have been allowed on DM.

I'm not a fan of Dames but I wouldn't have begrudged his appearance on DM.

That was sort of my point.

I think Dames is a complete waste of time. He has done nothing but be wrong and claim vague predictions as hits. I think he is a waste. I agree that Reed was a bad interview but the first time I heard the story on coast, I really enjoyed it. Didn't believe it, but it was a fun listen.

Not every shows going to be a home run. I liked the fact art took chances with guests like reed, bugs, victor, etc. some of his best shows.

I asked Noory one time what his best show was. He responded all of them. Isn't it odd, there is not one Noory show that's a "classic".
I did read an article in which noory said the most interesting show he did was with Benjamin creme and noory got sick. Noory said he thought creme would be anti-Christ.

None of these hoaxers bother me at all. Just as here we can choose not to read posts or listen to shows.

I could with Dames, Reed or Art, make a very compelling case that they are all hoaxers.
And Art is only one with Blood on his hands. ie. Heavens Gate suicides.

I kind of agree but, back when Dames shows were new he was fun, but after being a return quest too many times he got boring. Last summer when I heard that Art was returning, started to listen to his old shows on the net. Dames and others that made predictions were again a lot fun, to 100% realize everything they said was a pack of lies. That wacky Art's "Quicking" was a hoot too.
