The Italian judicial system seems pretty fucked.

Keep in mind, A few years ago the head prosecutor in the case against Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito, Giuliano Mignini, was convicted for conducting illegal investigations in connection with the Narducci case, an alleged murder originally thought to be a suicide. Incidentally, Mignini submitted a ridiculous "switched-body" scenario in that case just as ludicrous as his theory in this case.

To say the Italian judicial system is tantamount to a kangaroo court, is to do an injustice to courts of kangaroos everywhere

Indeed so; but he's since gone. The players have changed but the game is the same (With thanks to Working Girl). The upshot is that she won't be going to Italy, so no need to get your silkies in a wad over it.

It amazes me how you can sit there and say the Italians don't have a valid judicial system when OJ Simpson got away with murder! Micheal Jackson paid off the parents of a kid it's alleged he fiddled with, ~~had adopted~~ his own kids who bear no resemblance whatsoever to him even though it's highly unlikely he'd be allowed to adopt a stray dog in Italy. You have people thrown in prison for life for possessing cannabis, and the Italian system isn't fit for purpose? Run that by me again!

I think what's more interesting is can she travel internationally at all? Would interpol pick her up in France, for example, and extradite her to Italy? My guess is she needs to stay in the US forever now.

If I were her, I would be sure my voter registration was Democrat. Then, in 2016, if a Republican wins, switch to Republican.

I think if she went to any European nation (and there are quite a lot) she'd be detained and the Italian authorities notified. She'd be safe going to Russia though.. maybe.

The only thing I saw that made me doubt her is when interviewed by Dianne Saywer she was asked "did you do it?" and her reaction was strange. While she said, "no," she had to force back a smile. It was odd.

There's still the 'satanic cult" element though, isn't there? Mignini was involved in the Monster of Florence case, where they successfully prosecuted a slew of innocent people, including politicians and journalists, with a case revolving around their being part of a "satanic coven." Italy also recently prosecuted scientists for failing to predict an earthquake.

I don't know anything about her innocence, but the Italian courts have some serious problems.

Maybe shes not too bright, but being stupid is not a crime. After reading all these posts, I'm still not convinced she did it. Doing cartwheels is not evidence of anything but stupidity.

The Satanic cult claim the court made is one of the things that made me question their case.
