Hi George,

Not FeLV, FIV...as in Feline Immunodeficiency Virus...basically HIV in cats.  There is a vaccine but it is only effective about half the time. It is spread through bites and is most prevalent in intact stray males.  Does Martinez have a shelter?  To be honest George, stray cats are better off in a sheltered situation.  They just don't last long roaming the streets.  Here is a pic of one particular cat who was very difficult to catch.  It took me nearly five months to isolate him.  Back then we didn't have children and my wife and I rehabilitated cats then worked with a rescue out of Kansas City.  This guy was a special case.  Once in a domestic situation, he really came around quickly.  We named him Spivey.  I took hm to out vet and she suggested an FIV test since he was an adult intact male.  The test can take many minutes to register.  Spivey's test took mere seconds...FIV positive.  She examined him further and discovered sores on the inside of his mouth and on his tongue.  This indicated he was in the late second stage of FIV or even in the first stages if AIDS.  We took him home and spent a few days with him, then took him in to be euthanized.  After Spivey, every single male cat we trapped save for three were FIV positive.

Are you kidding? He'll stop the show to go to the door and get the food. No tip for the delivery person, of course. Sucker! Then he'll spend another few minutes opening up the chicken wings, bread sticks and pizza. We can also wait while he goes to get himself a gallon of nice, sugary soda. Only then will he get back to the show. Of course, he'll be quick to tell us how it's not his fault that he is being so rude and unprofessional. It's MV's fault for starting the show on time instead of giving Senda another half hour to stuff his face since of course, all Gabcasts are surprise Gabcasts and there's no way he could have prepared or eaten before he knew the show was going to air.

Orangey and the 3 grey tabbies have all had their shots and all of them stay around the immediate area of my apartment building.
They are happy, well fed and are not attacked by other cats.
And all of them are spayed or neutered.
The 3 gray tabbies are also fed by other people here and are also loved by them.
It took me more than 5 years for Mama Cat and kitten to trust me to let me pet them.
They hang out in the parking area behind the building & except for coming up to my balcony to eat, they don't go into the streets.
They would be very hard to pick up and the so-called animal " shelter " here is a KILL shelter.
While they adopt out cats and dogs and other animals they kill many animals every year.

Kathy came close to losing Boop today.
Boop got caught up in a lamp cord.
Luckily she did not bite the cord but Kathy's freaked out about it.
I know there's some product where you can cover cords but I can't remember what it was or where I saw it.
One of these days I will see about looking in my back issues of Cat Fancy and see if there's anything in one of them about it.

And one of my subscribers said Drone sounds like an asshat.😂
IF I ever get a house or my land, ALL of them, including Papa Cat, would move with me and live with me for the rest of my life.
And there's something in the works towards that end going on as well though I am not sure how long it's going to take.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and that you were perceptive enough to know the traditions as well, but there's been no Pesach ( stupid spellchecker ) celebration for me since my Mother died.
It was one of the things I enjoyed doing with her because she went out of her way to make a wonderful meal and was NICE at least once a year.
No wine in here and I think Elijah's presence signals the end of the world and since my door IS open I hope he doesn't show up this year.
I've got too much to do and if the world ends, what happens to my kitties and all the animals ?🙀🙀🙀😿😿😿😔😔😔

President Obama has been holding a Seder in the White House every year for his Jewish and non Jewish staff since 2009.

I got me some cattle, chickens,rabbits, used to have sheep and goats, but no pigs they are illegal in the interlake region of manitoba canada. Too many hog barns so the dictators say, no new hog barns, or face a $30,000.00 fine every time caught in the act. Look it up if you don't believe me. The official name for the place is the Contra Costa County Animal Shelter.
I call it a so-called shelter because it is a kill shelter and they kill animals after 7 days if they are not adopted.
The SPCA shelter in Sacramento was also a kill shelter when I lived there.
A shelter should exist to SAVE animals and not kill them.
The word offends me if animals are killed.
The SPCA shelter in SF went to complete no kill and adoption policy several years ago. Animals are kept there for life if need be if they are not adopted.
That's the way it could and should be in every " shelter " in the country if people would fund it.
Surrendering my outdoor kitties would be tantamount to an automatic death sentence and they do not leave the confines of the back area except to come up here to eat.
I've stood at the end of the balcony and watched them.
They play with Fuzzy and Little Girl.
But unlike shelters run in the South Bay and elsewhere, this one kills animals if they are not adopted after a certain time.
The no kill shelters south of me are overwhelmed, particularly at kitten time but they do adopt out leukemia and kitty AIDS cats.
I saw an article where a kitty AIDS cat is taken around as an education kitty to tell pet owners about the disease and he's absolutely adorable and rides on the dashboard of the car.
But I digress.
Orangey and the other cats showed up here years ago.
My cats were born at this building.
ALL of my 22 cats save the original 4 ( and one that died because of an idiots actions ), I was given by my first girlfriend to " watch " for a week were strays.
ALL of Kathy's most recent cats were/are also strays.
ALL of them have been given love and care for years and have returned it in kind.
Martinez is full of cat friendly people and before I showed up here, another person was feeding the offspring of the Mama Cat who had 15 kittens over the years.
All of them, save 2 were neutered or spayed, got shots and through the help of pet groups, got adopted.
Fluffy and Fuzzy & Litter Girls littermates live in this building with a severely physically crippled man but they are well cared for and loved by him and very gentle and sweet and know me and my cats.
They meow at them from their back window and my cats meow back and have come to the front door to see them when he sits on the sidewalk in front of his front door.
This is a very cat and dog friendly building though I personally could do without the seemingly continually barking chihuahuas.
My 3 cats insist on going out.
If I get my land or house, I intend to build a cat safe outdoor enclosure for them where they could go out and be outside but free from harm from predators or other cats.
All of the outdoor kitties I feed were neutered or spayed through a catch and release program and have periodically captured and have had their shots and exams, even Orangey.
Their ears are all notched to show it.
Time to have coffee and feed Orangey and perhaps the grey tabby that hangs out directly across the street.
She's very sweet and talks to me but is still shy.
The people in the house leave her food and water and have a cat tree for her on the porch.
They love her very much.
She comes over and meows at me for wet food when I go feed Orangey.

There are dozens, maybe hundreds of strays at Amtrak.
I see them all the time when I go get the bus.
People leave them food but as far as I know, no one has caught or neutered them.

And asshat Drone is still making threats and talking about " payback ".

Ooh, I'm so scared...

Let's see how he feels tomorrow at 5 pm.

My cats were all house cats.  We are not allowed to let them out here.  In this building, I will not even have a pet.  It is a high rise, and too easy for pets to get out when maintenance comes in.  One neighbors pet ended up being found on another floor after scurrying into an elevator when the maintenance men came in.  Also, its too easy for them to push the screens out of the windows.  I understand people who say, well, their cats need to go outside, but there is no safe place outside for cats IMO.  There are other critters outside that can transmit diseases to them IMO.  I'm not judging Georges decision, I understand he is caught between his attachment to his furry friends, and  his furry friends attachment to the outdoors.
