You could always contact Ebay with what you have, and tell them you wanted to let them know just in case, if the repair person is handling this through Ebay.

Yeah, but there's a part of me that wonders if this is just another baffling financial decision of his. Like paying hundreds of dollars of interest on a $150 item in a pawn shop.

What I would hate is if it became a thing and he involved the seller and gave the seller a negative review to fortify his claim, and meanwhile the seller is just some innocent person trying to make an honest living who ultimately became a drive-by victim of the grift.

If George is on the up and up, and all goes well, there is no harm done in having notified Ebay with what you have.

If you don't notify Ebay, and things go badly, I don't know how you will feel then...

Well Ol Gerry, it's times like this that I'm glad I rarely check my Inboxes, Don't use email, and have no contact whatsoever with George.

I'm not sure I did a very good job of helping Seraphim, but it's plain to see she is very upset, and doesn't know what to do.

It would be great if you would share, if you have some better ideas...

FRIENDSHIP.

$70 to ship and insure; $45 for the repair.

Meanwhile, a guy 3 blocks away will fix it for $35.

That can not be right. To get insurance that high he would have to declare a value of $5000 (the max they insure). Shipping is a flat $16.30 and you can insure for $500 for about $7 add a signature confirmation for a few dollars and you have total shipping at $25.
$25 + $45 gives the seventy he claimed.

Sewergabbers, especially Seraphim tonight, are blessed that you are here, and I'm sure you've given her some things to think about.

In sincerity, your wisdom and good ol' fashioned common sense are valued and appreciated by most members here - Ol' Gerry included.

I don't think that I have any better advice to offer than what you have said already.  I just wanted to let you know - from one poster to another - that your giving of advice to someone in need was noticed and appreciated for the skillful and clever manner in which it was done.

It's also an odd choice considering there are deals like this on Ebay.

Here's the link to the Director's Cut of the Falkie Music Video.  It's all of the original material plus some extra scenes of the sullen pig's signature touch of consistent nincompoopery.

Falkie emailed me about all this iPad stuff last night. Usually I don't respond to his, or anyone's emails for that matter, because I'm a reclusive, antisocial, malfunctioning muppet in human skin.

But last night I felt compelled by my newly eclipse-elevated consciousness to reply with this:

"George, If you're planning for it to get damaged in the mail or something so you can recoup the full cost, please think twice about it. Mail insurance fraud is a federal offense."

His response:

"I don't have $150 to fix it and it is insured."

So buckle up, kids. Enjoy the ride.

I, for one, am washing my hands of him now. I did ask him for the seller's name; he gave it to me (see my earlier post) and I did draft an email to her, but I haven't sent it. Yet.

What he's doing is horrible, as in, next-level, "I can't even believe he's doing this" horrible.  I don't want to be any part of it. And knowing him, he'll pull it off.

And now I expect to get a "You've betrayed my trust" email or voicemail message from him, but whatever. Unlike some of you, I'm not out to destroy his life. But I don't condone this current scheme. Did he ever even HAVE 2 iPads? (Hell, I can't even afford one.)

Or was this all just a long con: "My shiny new iPad Air Pro got unplugged and stolen from my pillow in broad daylight while I slept ... by a fellow resident in my Section 8 apartment complex FOR SENIORS, so now I have to use my broken one, but OH DAMN, I have to fix my broken one, so let me ship it off to a total stranger in Indiana when there's a dude who will fix it for $30 two blocks away from me who's listed three spaces under my chosen repair person on eBay."

Nope. I can't.

Maybe he'll surprise me and it'll all be on the up and up. If so, shame on me.

Okay.  I''m going to have to read what you've written a couple of more times.  But it seems to me that senda has put you in the know as to how he is going to work this con.  Can you spell accomplice?  No, that's felony.  Accomplice.  It has the same number of syllables as felony.  Try it again. A-c-c-.....there you go.

Go for it, honey. I don't even know the guy. For all I know, he's a performance artist or the world's most epic troll. Meanwhile, I happen to know you're a chick with issues that are just as embarrassing as as his are. We are all Falkie. So cluck off, hen.

I see DPS beat me to letting you know about possible legal entanglements.   Sure you know senda.  You said that he might leave you a voicemail.  I'm not a lawyer, I was just a 'beat cop' but it sounds like you do know senda.  How else would he have the ability to leave you messages, voicemail or text?

*shrug*

I would suggest you send him one more message telling him to not do anything illegal and not to contact you again.  His shenanigans are going to get somebody burned.   Nobody here want sit to be you.

Don't waste your breath.  She's as much of a needy attention whore as Senda and just as thin-skinned.

I have a different take. You need to remember that Senda NEVER comprehends what is said to him in any form. So he is going to see what she wrote and read "Be careful it might break and there are places near you that you can take it."
He  is not going to pick up on the idea that she thinks he might lie about it breaking or catch that she said it could be done for $30.
His answer matches what he is going to hear.
Listen to him and Abe, read his responses to email and comments. He NEVER responds to what was said.

I do not think he is planning a scam but he will get upset and go after this seller.

She says "

“Ipad will be repaired same day or day after arrival, Fast Return”   Senda has said he will get it back the next day.

She also says "We do not cover shipping to us, but I will ship it back to you free of charge using USPS PRIORITY MAIL.  PLEASE IGNORE THE EBAY ESTIMATED SHIPPING DATES, WE WILL HAVE YOUR IPAD REPAIRED ON FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS USUALLY TAKING 24-48 HOURS UPON IPAD ARRIVAL."

First come first serve? Senda did not read that and priority is fast but still like 3 or 4 days. He will not receive it fast enough and he will open a case because of that. That is the Senda way.

George won't win that case.
Ebay will then contact the seller, the seller will give Ebay the tracking number, and Ebay will message Senda back that the seller has given proof that the item has been shipped, and to contact them back on a specific date (around a week) if he has still not received the item.

I had an item not arrive after over two weeks once, that should have taken four days, and that's what happened once I opened a ticket.

Also, I see the seller has 99.6% Positive feedback.

He should not win, I doubt he will.
But he will raise hell and leave a negative.

Many years ago, when you could see the buyers ID and actually leave a buyer a negative, Falkie wrote on his blog about an Ebay sell that pissed him off.
It was easy to find, he bought a Pokemon Christmas ornament as a gift. I typed in the Pokemon name and all cards but one figure came up.
The seller had one negative, it was from Falkie.
It seems he wanted them to wait two weeks to send it so it would arrive at just the right time. But that seller had the nerve to send it right out after he paid.

Dealing with Falkie got them their first negative.

He is rarely pleased:

I think it was discovered during the time he did the Night Talk review. It got posted here a few times and I bet he got rid of it.

This one is good. He has never bought nor touched the product. He just heard bad things about it.

It was on IMDB, not Amazon, it's under Hottest woman ever:
http://www.imdb.com/user/ur6777045/

I wonder what else we could find by searching the Internet for Falkenberg2001, Falkenberg2002 and so on. At the same time I am sure it is redundant, SWT must have done all of that ages ago;)

That is it. I remember the review but did not associate it with IMDB. DPS found a ton years ago as well.
