I concur with Little Hater above.  We have lost some very bright posters:  Onan (if he does not come back), Sardondi, Ben Shockley, Chew Mouse, Chine come to mind.  Speculative discussion and informed discourse have been largely replaced with never-fucking-ending jr. high insult-fests.  Pictures of turds in toilets (literally) now stand in for comment.

Things get rough in the politics thread--no surprise there.  But even the tone there has improved quite a bit lately.  I discovered those threads after exploring the material that originally drew me in:  Bell and paranormal material.  Bell is now gone and may not resurface in a meaningful way.  Paranormal stuff has mostly become boring nonsense in the hands of Noory and waaaay too many ghost hunter sort of programs.  And now almost every time I pop into the general threads, they are dominated with all-things Falkie and people trying to show how oh-so witty they are.  Ugh.

You are not wrong about any of this.  Here's what I do:

I'm here first and foremost to satirize George Noory and help document his suckage.  For me, it's fun, and no one in the entertainment world deserves it more - not just for what he does or the show, but for how he's wrecked what was there before.

If I'm not interested in a thread, I probably don't read it - sometimes I have to read a little to be sure.

I don't have anyone on 'ignore'. but there are some whose posts I mostly scroll past.  Other times someone may be commenting on something I'm not interested in and I skip the rest of that post and the related responses

If people have a different opinion than me, or if they want to call me or each other names or whatever - so what.  It doesn't hurt me, threaten me, or change me, it just means they have a different opinion, or if they are trying to be abusive it's them telling me who they are. I can reply or shrug or both

Each person is the one responsible for their posts.  Someone posts a pic of a turd, or insults, say, Falkie - it's that person, not 'BellGab', or the posters here as a collective.

On this or any forum, there are always going to be posters a person likes and posters a person doesn't like as much or even dislikes.

Having said all that, I appreciate you being the voice of civility here sometimes.  Maybe we should all come to some agreement about what we'd like to see more of or less of and try to keep to that.  For example lots of people don't like the Politics threads, maybe we collectively decide we want to close them and keep any references to anything 'political' out of all threads (everyone would have to stick to that because if one person posts something, someone else is going to be annoyed and challenge it).

Or whatever it is that bothers people to the point they leave.  There must be a happy medium between irreverence and people reaching the point of 'fed up'?

But it would probably be simpler for a person to just ignore what they don't like and understand there are people out there that think that or say that or whatever, whether they post it here or not.

I am not in favor of shutting down the political threads.  It's enter at your own risk, but those threads are clearly marked and contained.  Yes, the damned Falkie/Casio threads are also clearly marked, too.  I don't have to click on them.  It's not a perfect analogy, but it's a bit like having a favorite coffee shop where there is always-always-ALWAYS! a panhandler playing a harmonica.  You can ignore him, avert your eyes, go somewhere else.  And 95% of the time, that's what I do.  But now there are half a dozen people out there either insulting the panhandler or encouraging him to play louder, more!

I can say this:  I would be mortified if there were a General Musings of West of the Rockies thread.  Damn near a hundred pages devoted to it.  Guess I'm just a weirdo that way.

Maybe I am dead wrong.  Obviously a hundred pages devoted to the wit and whimsy of all-things-Falkie should tell me there's an appetite for it and I should STFU... Free speech and all.  But I don't think I am the only one tired of pictures of turds in toilets and text-walls of Your Mama's So Fat insults.

There will never be a thread like that with 100 pages. Why? Discretion.

What happened to that big video Falkie was going to do about Art Bell?  Did North Korea stop it from being released?

Funny line😀

I keep getting calls from people at all hours and mynsleep was interrupted a lot all daynyesterday and today I had  to deal with  a plumbing crisis. Got 3 1/2 hours of sleep in 2 days. It will go on sometime tonight along with a couple of other videos. Kathy left here at 4 pm and i finally got another 2 hours of sleep but still feel as if I haven't slept at all.

I don't know, this forum has probably seen a lot worse than what this thread can dish out.

Dude you really need to disconnect from the internet for a few days and get your health back in order. Not sleeping is not good for your health.

Falkie2013

Its the damned sinus pressure that's keeping me awake. The infection is lessening but its not gone yet.
What I really need to do is unplug the phone. People keep calling me at all hours and won't let me hang up and go to sleep.
Going to do the videos i said I'd do, put away the laundry, feed the cats that people seem to resent and get some more sleep, not necceassarily in that order.
I do appreciate your concern and part of it is a carryover from last weekend.
i am tempted to stay up and watch a lot of Dr. Who I've not seen but I'm taping the episodes while I sleep. I know that's not the right term. 5 days of Who !

Falkie,

This is probably the best pic I have found of you so far on the net. Radio Movie Star good looks!

Who are the other two peeps in the photo? Please discuss.

After the passing of 44 years, I can't remember who the girl was though we were good friends at the time. Life and events 2-4 months in the future got in the way including the death of my Father and I didn't attend any functions for a long time.
The guy in the picture is somone who was married to one of the nicest people ever. They were married, then divorced and it wasa sad case. And no, I had nothing to do with it before anyone asks. Suffice it to say that after all this time, she disappeared from active fandom and he went to parts unknown.
I have a mutual friend who may recall who the girl is/was. Ours was purely a platonic friendship.

As an aside, Kathy was here today and I told her she's going to do a video with me where she WILL explain WHY I was telling her to shut up in the Napa video and despite what some people here think, telling someone to shut up is not abuse if the other person keeps saying something over and over that is driving you to distraction.

Of course, my typing the above paragraph will immediatedly subject me to accusations that I am either verbally or physically forcing her to do the video. When I told her about it, she was laughing and I also said that there will be none of this where you stand there and say nothing making people think you're too frightened to talk.

Kathy tells me to shut up at times and it will go back and forth with :

" Don't tell me to shut up. "

" You shut up. "

" No, you shut up. "

And on and on.

It's something we do at times when one of us says something that annoys the other one or when she starts in on me with what she was doing in the car that day. She told me that I wss screwing around too much and I told there that I was there to film the quake damage because I thought it was important for people to see it. She thought it was a waste of time.
It seems to me that some of you can't seem to understand that long term couples fight from time to time and some of it is because we've been together too long in the car or she or I make a cutting remark directed at the other. We usually vent, get it out of the way and make up. If we were really like the Battling Bickersons :

http://www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bickersons

The Bickersons was a radio comedy sketch series that began in 1946 on NBC, moving the following year to CBS where it continued until 1951. The show's married protagonists, portrayed by Don Ameche and Frances Langford, spent nearly all their time together in relentless verbal war.The typical Miller introduction would set the scene:

The Bickersons... have retired. Three o'clock in the morning finds Mrs. Bickerson wide awake and anxious, as poor husband John, victim of contagious insomnia, or Schmoe's Disease, broadcasts the telltale signs of the dreaded affliction. Listen...
The listener heard a chorus of low-roaring snoring, punctuated occasionally with something that sounded like laughing. Blanche would awaken John, even at three in the morning, and the feuding would continue with their trademark arguments about John's job, Blanche's domestic abilities, John's alleged eye for neighbor Gloria Gooseby, Blanche's shiftless brother Amos (played by Thomas) or John's taste for bourbon. Rounding out the cast was future children's television favorite Pinky Lee in occasional supporting roles.
As New York Herald Tribune critic John Crosby described them (in the May 25, 1948 column which gave the couple their nickname, "The Bickering [Battling? See Talk] Bickersons"):
Blanche... is one of the monstrous
shrews of all time. She makes her husband... take two jobs, a total of 16 working hours, in order to bring in more money which she squanders on minks and the stock market. Meanwhile, he can't afford a new pair of shoes and goes around with his feet painted black. In the few hours he has to sleep, she heckles him all night with the accusation that he doesn't love her. Her aim appears to be to drive her husband crazy and she succeeds very nicely. The harassed John's only weapon is insult, at which he's pretty good.

The tapes of the show are really quite funny and led the way for a lot of the kinds of the couples sparring situation comedies we've seen for years.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOYlj2eM4KU
www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LalQ8dumPY

As John Bickerson says in the above video :

' A least we have a way to blow off steam. Othrer couples hold it inside until they blow up and break up. '

We'd never been together this long. We fight verbally and get mad at each other at times but we always make up and hug each other though at times its a lot of ( on the phone ) ;

" I hate you. "

" I hate you more. "

" i hated you before I met you. "

" I hated you before you were born. "

And so forth.

Out of context it looks like we're about to kill each other & people have seen us together and usually ask us :

" How long have you two been married ? You act like an old married couple. "

Even when we're not fighting.

I hate yelling and screaming. Kathy has turned from being sweet to bitter and at times its the only way she can deal with situations or people she doesn't like.

Kathy is different than my first girlfriend who never fought with me and had a much calmer disposition, or the other women I've been with.

Its not easy to be with someone who has a volatile and at times mercurial disposition.

But for all of that she does stand up for me when I've been threatened and vice versa.

And I am tired of being accused of being some kind of serial verbal abuser or batterer.

I'm not. Neither is she.

And I'm also tired of feeling compelled to have to explain myself to people on here who have NEVER met us and who don't know us. It really gets me angry to be singled out by people who consistently think the worst and are incapable of thinking that there might be an alternative explanation for a situation.

I'm not what you people think I am based on two short snippets in 2 videos. Neither is she.

We've lived together 4 times.

Together we drive each other nuts.

Apart we miss each other and can't think of not having the other not in our lives.

We spend hours on the phone. My biggest problem usually is I can't get a word in edgewise, sometimes for as long as 1/2 an hour.

We love each other. If you can't understand that, and keep up with the abuse bs, then bugger off and stfu.

Holy shit. I finally understand The Bart Ell parodies at the beginning of this thread.

Falkie please don't subject Kathy to the ridicule that will surely follow. I think you truly believe that having Kathy say you're not abusive will exonerate you to some idiots on the internet but all it's going to do is subject Kathy to more ridicule from some idiots on the internet. Who's brilliant idea was this? area51drone or littlechris?

It was solely mine no one else's.

I am tired of all the insuations that I am a serial verbal batterer or girlfriend beater.

I am not.

I'm tired of being called stupid, lazy, fat, re-writing history or similar bs and if I were to post a recipe on what is purportedly MY thread, I'd probably be excoriated for eating too much or being fat because I dared to post it.

I've corresponded with RCH & Stanton Friedman on science issues, the late Fr. Malachi Martin on evil and possession, with GMS on psychic issues, with Dannion Brinkley on my NDE's, Stan & Holly Dayo on why we never hear about prepping for our pets, Jim Berkelund on quakes,Whitley Striber on issues, Noory and Art. And it wouldn't be too hard for me to find out how to contact Michio Kaku and ask him about string theory or type 4 civs. I've got all his books.

Kathy saw the promo for the new Stephen Hawkings movie today and said he looks creepy. I said the most brilliant scientist on the planet is not creepy, it's body that has failed him and an incurable disease that should have killed him by now & hasn't.

Neither is Kathy.

The idea of a world of NOT KATHY is inconceivable to me.

Should I predecease her, she'd probably die of a broken heart.

If she dies, I'd mourn her for a very, very long time but would put up a barrier like the ones I had to to deal with the pain of having two abusive parents.

It kept me from going insane or doing myself in out of fear or despair.

I'm still having problems with dealing with the idea of this being the first Hanukkah without my Mother. She could be nice one time and an absolute harridan the next. She treated Kathy that way for years until Kathy told her off once and for all.

Me, I cowered and had to deal with my ulcer flaring up with every visit and 57 years of abuse.

Its been suggested I stay off of here for a few days.

I'm going to take that suggestion to heart and do it.

Have a great Christmas one and all.

Too much personal information volunteered is not a good thing. Do not feed trolls.
Everybody has bad shit that has happened to them, myself included.
You must realize that releasing and dwelling on such things make you a negative person and like a steaming pile of shit will attract flies and will make more maggots making more flies.
Stick to your podcast, call Obozo for what he is, and leave the tragedies for a telenovella on Univision.
