Art is NOT a Political Prisoner. Art is NOT being persecuted. Art QUIT after signing a contract. Sirius let him out of part of his Contract (the one he agreed to) after Art quit after six short weeks. After Sirius promoted him, built him a studio, etc...

Art is STILL using this to take cheap parting shots at Noory and C2C.

I think it may be more complex than that. 

Sirius seemingly got Noory onboard very quickly - quicker than I would think these things happen.  They may have thought that Art was locked in by that cheap contract and that they would also get the airhead, Noory, into their system - so they would run both programs. 

Now I'm trying to get a good assortment of things to listen to on my new Sirius home radio.  I don't worship Art, but by contrast Noory has attention deficit or something.  He doesn't seem able to keep focused with any depth on any one topic for too long.  I just can't listen to him, and I never really appreciated what a great interviewer Art is until Awful George took over C2C.

He my have a better chance huh?  Well, he may - but I am not donating.  Art is perfectly fine in being a responsible individual with his own finances thank you.  And he has way more money than I ever will.  So, I chose to support him if he comes back on the air, that's it. 

I truly think a non compete should be like compounded interest.  Except it must have a high end limit.  Lets say like, quarterly.  YOU are in a compounded Non-Compete - your time served under contract is the time you are not allowed to compete against said radio entity.  For a maximum of 2 years.  After that even, if you have a show that lasts, and they resign you for additional years for more money, and you stay for 20, they only get a total of 2 years in the non compete.  That way for instance if you leave after a 6 week trial, you - nor they are really burned by the deal. You would have to sit out that quarter though.  So you would really miss 3 months. This gives both company and individual time to access further job opportunities and get that poor unemployed man back to making money, in today's economy as well.  And the company time to bring in new host/change programming accordingly.

I want to remain hopeful that I'll hear his voice again.  Too bad he didn't start webcasting AFTER his Premiere N.C ended and BEFORE he signed on with SXM, and then he could have worked that into his contract from the beginning. He could then have cited it as something he was doing before SXM, and surely they don't have a problem since C2C simulcasts out on AM, XM, and Web.
But they wanted Art (and his fanbase) as an exclusive.  I wonder how many of the old fans rushed out and bought radios and signed up?  I'd bet they sold an additional $500K or more in radios and services in the first month Dark Matter went up.

If he were truly interested in getting back on the air sooner than later he has the resources and time necessary to do what he could.

Also having C2C in so quickly was a little odd. Either it was planned from the beginning or they potentially saw an audience with their brief time with Art they thought C2C could pull in. There's more than a few scenarios I could see regarding that whole situation but without having any actual knowledge of the situation I don't put that much thought into it. If Art appears back on the air via the radio or internet I'll be glad to listen again. Serial quitter or not he's provided me with countless hours of entertainment and occasionally even some useful information. I already had Sirius myself so luckily I was not out anything and it's gotta suck for those who put up money specifically for this alone to see how quickly it fell apart.
