Oh no, no, no... the other way around... Alex Jones agrees with you, dortmunder.  lol, just trying to make you laugh during the dark times,  :D

imho, I think Alex Jones wishes he was Art Bell.  Or Bill Hicks.  Or anyone but himself.  The dude's crazier than *all* of BellGab combined, lol.

Lol, you said it! That guy really needs to get on some medication!

And, shit...I miss Bill Hicks!

If anyone is wondering where the Art Bell broadcast location is, go to the satellite view of google maps and search for "Desert Lane, Pahrump, NV".

The satellite view is fairly recent, but I think the street view is a little old.  If you check out the street views from the surrounding streets, you can see the antenna fields Art used to talk about.

Portlandia is a strange show.  I don't know how I feel about it.

The library hide and seek bit was funny.

I think it's improved quite a bit over the last season or two. They were bringing a little too much SNL into it.

Jesus. That lady is insane.

Almost reminds me of a certain former radio host.

You just won bellgab tonight.

HaveAccess, that post you made about Art the artist (last posted on page 264) as the cause of much of his problems, and what he should do about it, hit the nail on the head.

You know, I don't really buy into astrology that much but I did notice Art Bell is a gemini. My mother is a gemini. It really does explain a lot:

"...you can find this air sign contemplative, serious, restless, and even indecisive. Both twins are able to adapt to life's circumstances well, making them wonderful people to know. Things are never boring when a Gemini is on the scene."

Indeed, lol!

PS I'm here in Portland, but was unaware of Clyde Lewis. Is the tunein stream live (duh)? No way to hear it OnDemand?

For me, that was one of the best features of Sirius...OnDemand, which has the potential to really expand your audience just not live callins, which frankly I couldn't care less about. It's all about the interview.

Of course, Philosopher I did exactly that, plus suggesting they add the nonexistent category " paranormal" . We've had SXM for a couple years ...there's no paranormal programming.

I lived in Portland for years and never even heard of him....   :-X

Yeah, we're a pretty welcoming bunch. Just don't talk about Seattle!

I think the suits are off meeting with their NSA contacts. "The glitchy streaming tactic worked. We might finally be rid of that pesky Bell guy! Now how about that government contract you promised us?"
What's wrong with Seattle????  >:(

...but if that doesn't happen I'll just keep listening to the music while browsing this shithole.

Portland has an inferiority complex when it comes to Seattle. Also, a touch of middle-child syndrome, being between LA and Seattle.

It sure is a thoughtful, romantic gesture.  Ah, the difficult artist fettered by the tyranny of the suit.  But you have to ask, 68 years and he still can't figure out what HaveAccess seems to have wrapped up so succinctly?  Creatives often are difficult so that washes, but I think there's something pathological at work here that's ugly.  "My base isn't there," speaks of some failing to reign in the ego and honor an audience that's supported you through the decades.  Without an audience, Art's creative efforts are nothing.

And then there's the Ducks.   :D

Bwah!  That was FUNNY!  VERY well done!   Mind if I move down from Seattle?

As long as you're coming by bike ;-)

So true, Padre.  Plus, Art even seemed to be unduly distressed by a mere computer virus in the week preceeding his departure.

For those of you that like Art, I present Dr. Milt Rosenberg:

Ha!  Yeah.  Like that's going to happen.

Let me take this opportunity to say I love John Dortmunder.

Malachi bikes! He belongs in P Town, right Dort? and Maren, please don't mention the Ducks right now, but feel free to come on down! It rains less than Seattle, but the traffic is getting almost as bad, because half of California is here now.

I don't know of anybody here that actually watches Portlandia. We just film here. Not watch. Son is a movie music composer. Maybe he should write a new theme for Art, get half done, then quit. Ouch. Sorry.

Lol! Someone else commented on that in a PM. I'm actually German by birth. I come from a city called Dortmund. Been in the states since I was a kid though. That's why my handle is Dortmunder. Here's some trivia, though, a local Dortmund beer (Dortmunder Actien Bier or DAB) was the inspiration for the name of the John Dortmunder character. It's a small world, eh?

So...

I never even got to hear the new show.

How was it? Did it live up to our expectations? Was it (not it's cancellation, but the show as a whole) a disappointment or enjoyable? I haven't read the site in a while, but was surprised at the length of the listen-live threads.

If it was a disappointment I don't think Art's quitting would have generated 268 and counting pages of varying emotional responses. :)

And the other half of California is up here.

People say they don't watch it, but I think they secretly do ;-) I've heard of more than a few Armisen and Brownstein sightings around town too. I think Brownstein lives here full-time, but not sure.

It was fantastic. I heard every minute at least once. Everything I had hoped for and more.

Interesting!  Both the origin of your username and Westlake's character.  It IS a small world.
