wow!! I bet Art would be willing to do the show for free for the first 3 years, just to get back at snoorey and Premier. Art absolutely HATES premier for not supporting him during his law suit! I dont blame him!!

Perhaps Art feels that Sirius has an obligation to present HIS show without interruption and without glitches and therefore is playing his hand by saying if you can't straighten things out then stream the thing for free until you do.
If one were paying for Sirius as many do, I would think that Sirius would have some kind of implied obligation to present program content without interruption.
AND we have NO idea just what Sirius's agreement with Art may entail. He may well have some type of control clause that he has not divulged yet.
Who knows ?

Not necessarily so internet advertising works way different than broadcast media. SiriusXM has always operated in a paradox that they are trying to break out of.

That's how he said it and that concerns me. If Sirius says no, and Art doesn't think there's a viable path forward then I can only fear the worst.

I sure hope that's not the case.  I've listened to all the shows since he's been back.  Are the people with the problems streaming from the sirius website?  Most of the time I'm listening to the android internet streaming app if I'm not in the car and I never had it cut out once.

The weird thing is that the overall listening base must be 10 times it is at night during the day and I never have problems listening then.  Might be a payrroll employees on hand at night to fix network problems issue? 100 techs at 1pm 2 at 10 pm?

I'm not a Howard Stern fan, so I don't know how his fanbase works.  Does he have a large pool of internet-only listeners?   Is it important to those listeners to hear Howard's show live?  Do they have an internet forum where they share the live listening experience with other fans?  Is Howard's live show on in the morning when people are mostly at work, with more of his fans listening to replays?

I still feel that the audience is no where near c2c - and with multiple affiliates streaming c2c already for free, you DONT have to be a C2C Insider,....so maybe Art's trying to say look, lets do it, but only do it from MY site because at least there is a Level of control to it...I hope it goes the way Art wants.

With say, Cumulus radio network.

$75k per year for 3 years?! Where did that number come from?! Howard Stern, even before he was VP, was getting close to $150 MILLION a year, and that figure is even higher now. $75,000 per year is essentially doing the show for free. That's one of the most unbelievable things I have ever heard concerning Art. I'd need to see proof of that to believe it.

I have no idea why Sirius would even consider streaming his show for free. It makes no sense at all. None. There is absolutely zero upside for them with him doing that.

If nothing else, Sirius is going to need to draw a line in the sand here, and I don't blame them. What's next if they give in to this? Art then has the right to sell the stream to whoever he wants, say... Terrestrial radio? There are better odds of me time traveling than Sirius letting him stream his show for free. I love Art to death, and listen every night. I'll be gutted if he leaves the air again, but I just think that Art HAS TO KNOW this is unrealistic... Maybe they'll let him do it for a month or two in order to grab more listeners from TR, but I doubt even that.

Whatever is happening over there... I find it hard to believe that something like infrastructure failure wasn't factored into their dealing in the first place. Not to mention, again, Stern has over 20 million of his own listeners, and it seems as though all of them are more than able to stream things just fine. Like I said earlier, I know I can. There's more to this than meets the eye, and I really wonder what Art and/or Sirius is going for with this. Art is saying he had many thousands of listeners cancel their subs because of streaming failure... I highly doubt that to be the case. The show is successful enough to have C2C scrambling to hold onto guests and listeners, so this all reeks of things going on behind the scenes.

For the record... The suggestion that Art and Keith are more capable of streaming to millions of listeners than Sirius/XM is laughable to say the least. I love both of those guys, but that's pure BS.
