What does everyone think this is going to be like, its got Keanu Reeves and John Cleese so i am expecting an irreverent cross-generation surf-fi comedy, with a little romantic interest thrown in for the ladies, in the form of Jennifer Connelly.

'Keanu stated that his take on the role was to be an objective observer as the alien' - sounds like an excuse to me.

Keanu is also supposed to play Spike Spiegel in the live action version of Cowboy Bebop. He's been busy lately apparently.

I'm not expecting much from this film, but hey, if they're going to keep doing remakes, at least they pick a good sci-fi movie every now and then.

Thyroid disease - turned to cancer and spread, which is unusual.  Thyroid disease - even cancer - is one of the more easily controlled "uglies" out there.  (I had to have mine nuked myself- and now have to take synthetic thyroid hormones since I don't make any of my own.)

That is a BAD picture take at a BAD moment.  The man is only 12 years my senior for the love of God!

PS:  Thyroid disease tends to be genetic - and is linked (strangely) to prematurely gray hair. It's also much more common in women then in men - though my brother had it, and obviously, since it's Ebert's issue, men DO have problems with it.

Also - they had some problems with his surgery, and he lost the ability to speak (dunno if he regained it or not)  That is ALSO uncommon, so this guy's throat karma is not great. 

It's all a bit scary to me, since my brother died of a form of Lou Gehrig's that attacks, primarily, the throat. Maybe I should have George grab mine?

You may be right.  It seems that picture was taken last January of February, while he was recovering from his most recent surgery. It seems, from his site, that he is writing, but I haven't seen any pictures that I'm sure are more recent.  The most recent good looking ones (like the one i posted) seem to be carefully chosen press photos and studio head shots, and could very likely be a couple of years old.
