Please set aside the debate or giggles of this news for a moment and just be reminded at how pathetic Coast to Coast AM has become by not even mentioning this weird paranormal news, perhaps the biggest in the world.  Art Bell would have mentioned it even without an official Vatican statement.  Coast doesn't even need to say or agree if it is real or not, they should still be reporting on it!!   Pathetic in my opinion.

I can take you past dozens of churches that have a poster outside saying 'Christ is risen''..It's near Easter, so that might explain a lot of it. Christian indoctrination constantly suggests the return of Jesus Christ, but like snake oil over generations, it doesn't make it true; nor does not repeating some comment by an outgoing pope on face berk make it a blackout..It just isn't deemed newsworthy, whilst you have Syria on the brink of total collapse, imminent economic collapse in certain parts of Europe, and the trials and troubles in other parts of the world; Have you any evidence other than your thinking it is newsworthy?

Christ has come back and only speaks to the new Pope and not to the world at large ? I find it hard to believe. And the media probably missed it because they're more concerned with gun shooting stories and the sequester effects than an old guy who takes over the reins at the Catholic church. They only report on new popes because it is an automatic ratings booster. Everyone watches to see who they pick and if they're choices were right. IF Jesus never comes out into the open, then the Cardinals have picked a nutjob to be Pope and that MIGHT be why he's the last Pope.


But with my being Jewish, I don't pay attention to what Popes say anyway. Nor to things about Christ because WE have never believed he was the Messiah nor is he the Son of God. I don't attend temple much but I do believe in G*d or at least a higher power in the universe. And yes I know its a matter of faith, but with out faith in it and other things, what else do we have when life is done ? Emptiness ? And that our lives mean nothing at the end like any other species ?

I agree with Falkie. With the world problems and the way we seem to be divided and at war, I think that the Messiah has not come. I do like the new dialogue with the Jewish leaders. Maybe we have some hope for peace?

I think some of you are confusing the concept of resurrection and that of the messiah's return to earth. It's a basic tenet of Christianity that Jesus was the Messiah, was the Son of God, was crucified as a sacrifice for the sins of humanity and was resurrected (i.e., "arose from the dead") after paying that price.

As to Jesus's return to earth, most Christians believe that at some point he will return in bodily form to earth to rule (although there are differences of opinion whether this will be his final rule or if it will be interrupted for a short while by an uprising by Satan before there is a final reckoning and judgment). This is the "Second Coming" you may have heard of. So while (to my knowledge) no Christian believes Jesus has yet returned to earth, all Christians believe the Messiah has been identified as Jesus and came to earth to accomplish his mission of sacrifice and salvation. This is one of the the primary differences between Christianity and Judaism, in that Jews believe the Messiah has yet to be identified.

I see Judaism as the mother church. Christians and Jews share many beliefs. We all pray to the God of Abraham. Muslims and some other groups do too. My cousin worships with messianic Jews at his church. I attended a synagogue once or twice. It reminded me of a Protestant church in some ways. Catholic services seem more different when the main similarity is excluded. I have Catholics and Protestants, as well as Jews, in my family tree. It's a strange mix. Some of these folks had an important commonality: they were religious refugees. It makes me appreciate freedom of worship even more.

Blackout implies intent.  Most news people I've associated with, even the church goers, are rather ignorant of religion.  In fact, indifferent may be the better word.  They just wouldn't be interested in a story about religion that didn't involve some public spectacle, such as the election of a Pope.  They'd simply ignore such a story unless Jesus appeared flying in the sky like Superman above New York City, London, Paris, etc.

I tried to follow the twitter & FB comments but did not find where the pope said this. I would be great if you could post Benedict's official page. There's lots of imitators, fan sites, and unofficial pages out there.

I've heard of Yahweh Jesus before when he was just calling himself Yahweh. He's a nutjob like the ones you can find in Midtown Manhattan near Penn Station and Herald Square 365 days a year, ranting to the crowds who largely ignore them. Benedict did have a Twitter account, which was closed when he stepped down and now is being used by Francis. The Facebook account is a phony. He never had a Facebook account.

Reform Jews do eat ham, pork chops and the like. We also eat shrimp, crab and lobster.

We just feel guilty about it IF we think about it.

I've always had the feeling that the restriction on pork was because of trichinosis and shellfish because fish and things that come from the sea don't do well in desert heat and spoil.
