Does anyone have the entire Oct 25, 1996 Coast to Coast AM with RCH and Art Bell? I have the download from Will Stare's archive but it ends abruptly and portions of it are cut out. During the show, RCH talks about why NASA chose July 20 to land on the Moon. I love it that Art chose July 20 to return to the air. Does anyone have the entire episode?

The way I see it, as Hoagland describes, there is a group of space-faring retards designing the stupidest structures in the galaxy and moving on to the next project.

If there are mega-structures on seemingly every planet, asteroid, and comet that can support them why isn't there on on Earth?

There is nothing on Pluto except geology.

Reprehensible indeed. Hoagland is no stranger to this sort of thing. He once told a single unemployed Father to go without food for one day so he could afford to pay to hear the great Hoagland in an all bullshit Elenin stream-fest. He has also jumped on the coat tails of many major disasters in an unashamed effort to aggrandize himself and sell his rubbish. Be it a Tsunami, a Fukushima, or a Challenger disaster. Richard Hoagland will be right there shouting 19.5 and torsion fields and buy my stuff.


Meanwhile the rest of us sit teary eyed looking at the devastation caused and the families united in grief.
Hoagland is not a nice person.

Well finally tracked down the NOVA special "Astrospies" that Richard mention years ago. not a bad story on DVD.
I hadn't known that the Russians had gotten that far ahead of us with manned military stations in orbit.
Also saw the full story of tragic loss of America's first Black astronaut, from back in the late 60's.
This set's the framework of Air Force missions to come hiding in the Black Budget and launching from bases
far from prying eyes instead of Vandenburg AFB and Cape Canaveral AFS.

RCH thinks in terms of classic SF. He doesn't to have read anything SF-wise since the early 60's.

Concepts like those found in Cyberpunk seem completely alien to him (pardon the pun).

RCH may be like Dave in a lot of ways. His exposure to SF seems to come mostly from TV and the movies, not from books.

Yes this rang true to me as well.  He likes to name-drop Asimov, Clarke, Heinlein, etc. although he doesn't actually dive deep into many of their ideas.  And I don't recall hearing him mention other important writers of the golden era like PKD and Pohl and Niven, etc. 

He seems to have picked a few well-known stories/authors and stopped there.  And as you say modern themes like genetic engineering, virtual reality, nanotech etc. seem absent from his commentary.
