I've been meaning to ask - is your GravitySucks avatar a commentary on that terrible Tess Garritsen book 'Gravity' that Art gushes over? 

I read that thing, the whole time thinking it must somehow get better - it didn't.

I picked the name many years ago when I was working at the Johnson Space Center. Worked most of my career as a NASA contractor.

Not sure where I found the .gif image, but it was around the time they announced the detection of gravitational waves.

Ha, a third meaning for what must be the most clever name on here!  I've always read it as both a description of that force in spacey terms and an approximation of Icarus's last words.

It is definitely a play on words. When I am SCUBA diving I remind myself it is the closest I will ever get to zero-G.

On tonight's weekly Art Bell: Somewhere in Time, it included a half hour segment of an Ed Dames predictions interview from mid 1996.
It was interesting to hear Major Dames doom and gloom predictions which he stated back then would happen in the next 4 years, which of course all never happened...

My favorite of Dames is his first appearance which he says he might only do C2c once. Then in his third or so appearance Dames stated it was his final appearance because the end was nigh.
