Wow. I'm listening to a recent Gabcast and someone mentions Billy Goodman. I thought no one but me remembered him. The first interview with Bob Lazar I ever heard was with Billy Goodman on KVEG out of Las Vegas, I believe.

Are there any Siegel shows floating around? I'd be curious to hear.

I've heard his C2C shows. Wasn't bad at all.  Was definitely better than Dave.

I have one that randomly appeared in my collection labeled as an Art show. I've never listened to that particular one so can't vouch for it. Remind me to drop box it to you.

I didn't mind him but not being a paranormal guy I thought he was trying too hard to be one and it came off as phony. He also claimed to have a cat probably to placate the Art Bell lovin cat ladies in the audience. I always thought that claim was dubious.

Much better than Dave.

Interesting, thanks. 👍🏼

Have you noticed that all 3 shows, MITD, C2C & TOSOM have been going to more Open Lines Shows in the last few weeks?
Could it be that the magic is gone, and the pool of Guests has gotten pretty shallow?

Listening to 1996-08-27 and Art contemplating "kissing a rat," and asked callers about that scenario, speculating on drug legalization (he seems to be against,) not liking exotic food or "things that look back to you from my soup," and railing against the Clintons (though doesn't support the callers regarding stockpiling ammo for a war if Clinton re-elected and doesn't buy into the "Clinton Death-list.") And of course the TWA 800 stuff still going on and claims that compasses were "off" and there was a magnetic-shift going on. He also had posted some photo of the missile. But some of his ruminations are very Norry-like, but done well. But I wonder, did Norry simply try to copy Art? Or if Art was never around would people accept Norry better? Is it simply nostaglia and because he was the best, or first heard, by many people? As for caller's quality? There were some doozies back then also.

cylon

I do really be wishing Art would be on radio again. I will not be listening to the new show host. I wish belgab people would be the new ones. Ponyboyssunset is better or MV or Cheffist.

Auslandia

What I particularly enjoy are those moments  where either the caller, the guest or even the host say something sort of cringeworthy followed by uncomfortable silence then normally followed by a "so…" or an inexplicable "exactly..." The "exactly" cracks me up every time.  I think the harmonics fiction book guy pulled one of those. I can't remember the context I'll have to go back and listen but it was phenomenally awkward and  hilarious to me. I live for stuff like that lol.

Siegel was what happens when you put a sports broadcaster that doesn't care about the paranormal in the seat. He was technically competent and talked well but it was sort of obvious that he didn't care about the subject.

Quote from: albrecht on April 13, 2016, 04:31:50 PMdid Norry simply try to copy Art?
Yes, he and/or his producers, and that was the problem.  For years he did shows on matters he had no feel for & no interest in.  He developed stock rxns to try to cover the mental void.  He even copied Art's negative attitude toward Ouija boards.

And Noory is what happens when you put a inexperienced incompetent narcisist douche drooler in the seat.

Noory had experience, he was a broadcaster here in St. Louis before he got C2C. He's what happens when you put a corporate shill that will tow whatever line is necessary in the seat that will be perfectly happy with it as long as the paychecks come in. Quality doesn't matter in that setting.

Hey apparently jc called mitd with heather recently. I'm no longer subscribed and can't find a clip of it so one of you who are still subscribed should put a clip up on YouTube or something.

I heard most of them actually. My routine back then was to turn on Noory and then he led into Art.

For $4.99 you can download all the shows since the beginning, and then just cancel your subscription if you want.

As long as we don't mock him. PLEASE, let's all create a mock-free environment.

Did he ever give a date for the meeting?  It is getting really hard to resist defaulting to my usual mocking, cynical tone...

Coz

Been gone for months... Since Heather took over.

Can I get a short summary?

I've noticed Art is mentioning Heather and MITD less and less on Facebook...

As a seemingly well-spoken person you might want to know that its "toe the line", not "tow".

Now you're just being a dick.  I respect that.
