Repaired that for you.  Wait.  Or did I?  So difficult to tell the difference between clicks and dicks.
Why split hairs?  ;)

No, the real Art Bell, private person, does not exist,

Hurr durr? Then who is writing the checks?

as much for lack of interest as for traditional notions of courtesy.

I'm going to assume that your clever, insightful, ironic point is lost upon my cliff face of ignorance, and retreat to my fallback position, which is that I've always loved you--but likely you're not my type.

Omg so this one time a radio talk show host (not Art) asked some old lady what she was doing up that late and the lady replied, "changing my colostomy bag". Said host has since quit asking that.  ::)

I heard Art might be back?

Where have you been? I was afraid you went out for smokes and were never coming back.

Sounds like a pain in the ass.

I can see the warm glow of the convenience store from my house. It calls to me every night. Mocking me. I can't stand the torture anymore...

It is much funnier when she does the old lady voice on air.

It's a real drag if you can't find shoes to go with the bag!

unvented gas in the bag usually leads to a real explosive situation.

I'm sure I got ptsd from the 10 months I had to 'wear' a colostomy 'appliance'.
Those were some fun times, life is so cool.

He isn't your friend. It's a commercial exchange - the man does a radio show and you, in turn, support him with your money. That's where it ought to stop. That doesn't mean that we have any special insight into the man as a human being, or his veracity. The sort of support you are describing sounds like infantilism to me.

People are welcome to believe things without evidence, and we call it religion. What you are describing is close to a religious belief because it can't be disproved. You are welcome to believe it, just don't plume yourself that you are better than anyone else.

I'd rather be cynical than be caught attempting that limp bit of irony. People do odd things all the time. It doesn't made them bad or mad, it makes them human and fallible. I can imagine Art doing something silly, regretting it, but having to continue because he is too far in to extricate himself. Or not. We just don't know.

+1 ...very well said Sredni!

So you think you can deal and co-exist with these trolls by managing to extract the bit of truth they might mix in with their nasty and destructive character assassinations? And by doing so, you're only being fair and even-handed by honestly looking for the truth?

I say that this is tolerance verging on acceptance and that trolls deserve neither. They are simply a plague on the Internet the way MRSA infections are a plague on patients' immune systems. There's plenty of truth in what legitimate members post here. Comment on that. Or, if you insist on feeding trolls, please do it elsewhere, like at 4chan.

Forget that he's trolling (by his own admission, no less), but consider his point that Art has kinda lied and bullshitted his way out of multiple gigs and taken his (pretty cool and supportive) listeners for a ride.  I think it's fair to call him on that, or at least ask, "Yo, what's up with this?"

And just in case any of this shit is true, I would feel bad for putting the screws to the old guy.  But GOD DAMN, there have been so many chances to clear the air about this and they (AB and Heather) have only made it more murky.

Off the current subject, but is the moderator from the other board on AB's site active on here?  That was one of the crappier forums.

I'm sorry, darling, I was trying to say that, much like I willingly suspended what meagre critical faculties I possess to enjoy his show, I willingly veil the man out of courtesy and disinterest.

If I gleefully rail against noory because I despise his public persona, I sincerely hope the man himself retires nightly to the bosom of a loving family, unlikely though that may be.

I think most of Art's fans are in the same boat.  If this gentle solipsism horrifies you I hope it is short of the zombiefied, slavish phantoms you regularly conjure.

So...how many people still believe the stalker was real?

A lot fewer than two weeks ago, that's for sure.

ok...I'll bite...

I would like to believe that Art didn't make this all up...I truly would.

Problem is, if something did happen, if he was sleep deprived, emotional, afraid etc., I can understand him making a decision to "hang up the mic" under the former circumstances.

However what I don't get is, that at some point he realized he acted in haste ( again,  I would like to believe this as he wrote) and that he feels he "can't take it back", yet he didn't do anything about it when there was time to control the damage and save MITD if he truly wanted to be on the air.

Then we have the word semantics game: hanging up the mic for the last time doesn't mean retiring....then less than 24 hours later he is on the air with Heather, albeit from the inside of his home, BUT the reason he quit was because the danger to his family was allegedly him being on the air.

Then he quits BellGab...then he doesn't...then he quits BellGab again........etc.

Add to that the police report findings, the lack of reporting the threatening caller...and I guess the clincher for me was taking Asia out in the middle of the night with an alleged stalker being out there with a gun and taking a photo to post on FB, yet he did this without adding any additional security measures, stays in his home despite etc. It's all been said before.

So bottom line,  I lean toward that Art wanted out and embellished, if not made up a way to do so....for whatever reason, who will ever really know?

I would like to believe him, but none of this makes any sense ( to me), therefore I can't and that makes me sad, disappointed & leery of anything he will do or say again.  :(

He had a way to fix this immediately after he proclaimed he hung up that mic, if had chosen to. He had many other options to keep his family safe; he chose none.

What else is there to say?

Whether we believe or don't, the show is dead, the "king" has left the building and if he ever does come back, there won't be but a handful of people there to greet him.....
