Night Train trailed off just a few hours ago, and says he is done for awhile.  I miss him already.

Unless you want to see a bunch of speculation regarding Hether's pedigree, there is nothing to see here.

thank you for doing me this solid. I love you all, but unless we're talking about Doctors, Dentists, or Teachers, someone's pedigree doesn't matter to me.

Besides Art Bell, my favorite podcaster right now is MV. And what's his pedigree? Truck Driver? Computer Repair Guy? 911 Dispatcher? E-cig Shiller? Talent is talent, my friends.

Yes that too.... And it nudges the door open a little wider for him to return to glory  :P

Return to glory?  Now he's gotten to the point where he's quitting before he starts.

Actually you may have a point...MV has the whole "live podcast" thing worked out, so maybe Art and MV could work together to keep MITD going if Keith throws in the towel.  I'm not sure why the other podcasts on DMDN needed Keith to do live shows.

Meh.  I'm sticking with the program til the bitter end, regardless.  I like the concept of the DMDN and I pay more in ATM fees in any given week.

You know, there are ways to avoid paying those fees. All you're doing is making all those greedy corporate one-percenters you dislike so much even richer. You have an interesting attitude towards money.

KGRA is better & has better shows imo.  But he could just do his own thing & not be beholden to a network or time slot.

Nice!  I've never knew about KGRA before, thank you Auslandia.  I like the sleek and interactive layout of their weekly show schedule - much nicer than the vertical list of shows that Keith has up at DMDN.  Any thoughts on Fade to Black?  It poses a slight scheduling conflict with MITD, which runs til 10pm PST, but I'm sure something could be worked out if it came down to it.

Other than the association with Art Bell and the built in audience that came along with it, dmrn brought nothing to the table that podcasters couldn't do on their own.

Well, hell.  I guess I'll just be 'just some guy' forever around here.  I'm not gonna spit shine your balls like some around here.

I don't know about him, but I always scored in the top percentile, and he's definitely right about the regretful part.  But it's not clear that he's coming back - it reads to me like he very much wants to, but it's unclear as to how he could do so safely since the person(s) behind all this remain(s) anonymous and free to act against him again.  And if I were in his shoes, I'd be wondering if it will ever be worth risking his life and/or family's safety again.  Understanding the real source of this intimidation might make a huge difference in his evaluation of all this, but that can't happen unless the nutjob is caught, which seems unlikely.  There's also the issue of the backlash - after seeing how poorly he and Heather have been treated in the midst of this crisis, I would think he'd be asking himself if we are worth the potential risk and effort of doing the show.

I don't envy his position one bit.  He's caught between two immovable objects, and the answers that he needs to move forward in one direction or another may never be within his grasp.  No wonder he's having trouble sleeping- the not knowing is the worst part.

Yeah, he's cooped up in his house scared out of his wits for his family.  In between playing in the snow out in the yard with his daughter in the middle of the night.

If anyone wasn't convinced that whole thing was made up before, this bit about him not being the one to change 'Irene's' name to 'Erin' should have been instructive.  We already know he did, because that's what he told us when he was first getting to know her.  How would anyone have even known her name was originally pronounced 'Irene' unless he'd told us that previously?  No one called her 'Erin' until he showed up.

The guy is incapable of making a statement that he perceives might put him in a bad light, period, hence the stories that don't hold up.

Which is why I say that this "alternative" stuff Art keeps talking about is a bunch of hooey, without the on-air talent that generates and keeps the audience. Alternative trash is still trash.

I think Art will be back and Heather will be hosting the weekends and when Art needs a day off.
hip hip hoorayyyy

I think Art has some balls to even write this shit.

"Hey guize!!! Its only $4.99/month!!!!"

-And the cucks who eat it up and kiss his ass while he dangles carrots, drops hints and generally just fucks with his fanbase. When Art asks his fans to bend over, they collectively ask "How far Art?"

I'm seriously at a loss for words.

I wonder how it would have gone over, if Bell had just said, "I'm tired, I feel like taking the whole month of December off, hey, y'all wanna listen to my protégé for awhile? Good luck!"

I think the network would have tanked even harder. How long did you reprobates think a seventy-year-old man was gonna work five days and nights a week without a Got-damn respite?

I would've been fine with him taking half the month of December off, y'know, spirit of the Radio and all...

Yeah but if the DMDN collapses, MITD would probably go down with it, and getting back to live broadcasting if that happens could be a real problem.

I think if we can hold it together until this stalker business is dealt with one way or another, he'll come back to the show.  But if everyone bails from the ship, it's game over.  Heather's doing her part.  It's up to us now.  If we don't think it's worth a few bucks to keep the lights on for awhile, he won't have anyplace to return to when the smoke clears.

I am damn tired of all these gov't alphabet agencies messing with "the man"

I haven't even heard of those two, and am afraid to spectralate or remonster view what they might stand for!

Brother, as the Lord of Manor of Bellgab I'm going to need to you to recognize the chain of command and show a little more respect to the higher ranked.

Thanks. I won't be as pleasant if this happens again.

Oh c’mon.  It’s like 5am and the first time in his life that there’s been snowfall, on Christmas morning no less, and you’re begrudging them a few minutes outside to have a look and take a photo?  It’s not like there’s a sniper camped out there 24/7.  And he has good reason to think it may be over now that he’s off the air.  You just can’t win with some folks, sheesh.

Waitaminnit:  As I recall the story, he saw her name and (quite naturally, imo) thought it was pronounced like “Erin.”  I think they started by emailing, iirc.  And as I recall, she didn’t mind it (I seem to recall that she didn’t correct him on it until they’d gotten to know each other a little better, and by then it had stuck).

So I don’t see any inconsistencies.  Or am I missing something here?

I listen to it sometimes. I know a lot of people here don't like Jimmy Church though. Right after each show ends you can listen to the podcast right on the Fade to Black website until the next show airs the following night.

That is 100% correct as I remember it.  And it is not what Art said a couple of days ago up-thread.  Which is my point.

Someone recently accused him of being some sort of bully about it, imposing it on her, so he changed his story.  To me that's pretty interesting in light of the fairly implausible 'stalker' story.

Well, concerning the Erin/Irene thing, I have no clue and really dont care.

About the relentless terrorism he faced (so bravely) that caused him to essentially destroy 2+ years of work, ruin deals with radio stations, caused him to quit his job. Thats the bullshit part. I think thats been pretty well established for anyone thinking critically. As noted, all this happens and days later hes posting middle of the night pics with his daughter. Not begging the Police for help. Still in the same house.

-The relationship between Art and his fans is very akin to the relationship of an out of control juvenile delinquent whos mother constantly blames everyone else and talks about what a "good boy" he is even after his 20th arrest for violent home invasion.

ANYONE who has went through such horrible terrorism would never act that way except in the movies.

And the blindness to all of this is a willing blindness very much the same as the Sirus deal and everything else thats never Arts fault.

Do you know what an enabler is?

Well she was Baptised by a German Priest who spelled her name that way but no American can look at it and say Irene, so she likes it pronounced as It looks. Many people think that was my idea which is not true, it's what people who look at the spelling say and it is unique so she fell in love with it.

Forgive, the pan-dimensional Google-translate seems to developed a *hick*...
