I don't ever recall him offering that choice.  Had he just said that's what he wanted to do it would have been fine, even encouraged.
I don't know.  It seems to me that he had said that he wanted a co-host, occasionally.  Shall I dig up the comments that were posted to this site (let alone the others) after the first night?

Ok, I have had enough, I posted the reward myself and did not consult with the Sheriff, I don't see why I need to its my money and mostly my problem. While the sheriff's Dept has responded when called they have been painfully slow to post all the reports I have made. They do the best they can I guess.

At this point after reading some of the awful things said about Heather and myself I have had enough, I am not coming back to Bell Gab and after a short time of letting that reward sink in I will disable my FB site as well. There is simply no way to win with people like this and I have had enough to stress and sorrow over this for this lifetime. Carry on.

Art

Great, see what a few assholes can do to spoil it? I'm fucking pissed off now more than ever. Never once will I blame Art.  He's put up with a lot of bullshit over the years, and at 70, I can't blame him for saying he's had enough.

ART: ROSWELLS FOR POSTING A BOUNTY.  HOPE YOU GET THIS NUT.  Hope you are strapped, so we can know that you are safe(r).

ALL THE HATERS: Fuck off and die already.  Spend a few minutes trolling your own "successes in life" so that you might just want to jump off a bridge.

TO THE STALKER: I'm convinced you are here, lurking and reading.  I hope you get exactly what's coming to you.  I hope karma bites you in the ass, without hesitation, this lifetime. I hope you try shooting up the wrong neighborhood and someone blows your fucking head off. Right now the most interesting thing that you could do with your life, is END IT.

I've had enough of BOTH ends of the spectrum: People like you who continue to coddle Art no matter how many times he jerks the show out from under us and the a-holes who make racist, hurtful comments about Asians and the age of Art's wife. People are pissed and need to vent. It would be nice if everyone could do so in a constructive manner, but that isn't how life works. Life isn't fair.  Art should have learned that lesson by now. instead of running off like a scared rabbit, he should have toughed it out.

I think there is and was confusion in general about Heather and her hosting or co-hosting role. I was checking out this site from time to time to get news about Art's return and was still surprised to hear her on air.

There were two huge obstacles here and the confusion made it all worse. First, Art with a co-host? Who? Why? How? Second issue, how's she doing? Really, she needed to make a great first impression and it just didn't happen. By the way, MV is on the podcast right now making the whole point about how Heather was brought on the show.

If you go back into the art bell thread and read posts from the end of May and beginning of June, you will see some posts about (Redacted) being on the show. That was over a month before the launch, so I am guessing in Art's mind and Heather's mind, it wasn't a surprise.

That was the claim to start with.  I would imagine that he did not want to set her free on her own to alternate shows with until she had some experience (can you imagine the uproar letting somebody with limited experience sit in for him rather than with him.)  My guess is that he was going to break her in (and the audience in) slowly.  Let her find her "radio legs" and eventually have her as an alternate.

I could also be wrong- but it seems like a reasonable guess.  70 years old with wife and daughter... He would have known that eventually he would have to take time off for family or health reasons.

Either way- I would say that people made it quite clear that they wanted Art, and only Art (unless Knapp would fill in...)  Sort of like now.  I have not read a lot of encouraging comments here about Red filling in- and I am supposed to believe that if Art had said to the audience that she would be hosting 3 out of 5 nights that people would have been receptive and less hostile?  He could not even have her on for two hours with him before people pulled out the torches and pitchforks.

Knapp would have been a perfect fill-in host or weekend host.
I asked him about that on twitter back when Art returned to DMDN and he replied to me via direct message.

Agreed as well.  Ill be on standby for those occasions he's able to make appearances.  Sucks there's alot of negativity on this forum.  Or just in general over this situation. I hope we can all chill out.

I know its a lame excuse for some but its the holidays and even though specifically you might not share the EXACT same beliefs, I hope the general spirit of kindness is prevalent in your respective cultures.   We all shared/do share an interest at some point for this guy. Whether our actions reflecting the recent event were negative or confused, I would ask that we can put those feelings aside temporarily to wish each other some modicum of happiness and safety this year?  I wish it for all of you as well as Art and his family.   Yes things suck recently. But, we all still have one another in some way and I guess I am thankful for that despite not having met any of you.

I NEVER used to be sentimental about things. Its only after society and just time seems to take those things I took for granted from me year by year.  So I think alot of us here wanna keep hold to what few things we really enjoy.  Including Art himself.  Id love nothing more to deliver this stalker jerk to him hogtied with a bow on his head for xmas, and tell Art to keep the 20k and put it back into maintaining the show. Especially if it gave his wife and daughter some peace of mind that the world is not completely terrible.

Can my life go on without this show? Yes.  But if it were up to me, Id have him doing what he loves, talking while I do what I love, listening.   It wasnt always the topics that interested me about Art, but hearing someone do what they enjoy doing that was pleasing to my ear. The enthusiasm.

Yes I am naive thinkin my hippie-ass-kumbaya suggestion of just tryin to hope the best for everyone will gain traction.  But I had to at least put it on the table, given what I've read lately.

Good to be back by the way and hope you all have a great day today.

I just think that some of the bitching happening now about how Art never trained a successor are some of the people that bitched him out in the beginning when he might have been trying to do just that.

Would I rather hear Art or Heather? Art
Would I rather hear Heather or SNoory?  Heather.

That's what I thought his reaction would be. He has a full-time TV reporting job in Vegas. C2C is really just a weekend gig for him. I've always thought he was the best C2C had next to Art though. It would be nice...if only.

Assuming that any sizable part of the audience was reading through posts here would be one heckuva assumption on their part. Not saying you're wrong though. I don't have enough information to even want to guess about it.

Great show, but I only caught about 15 minutes of it.
How long does it usually take to get in into the archives. I'd like to listen to the whole broadcast.
Thanks!

Having a dedicated PR person starting 6 months before the rollout would have helped prevent soooo many stumbles along the way. From my perspective, the whole team was stretched marginally thin and were trying to do jobs that they weren't ready or able to do like a pro. I was amazed (pleasantly) that the show kept building up steam.

I wish Art safety and now, I would prefer if he never came back to MITD. I would prefer that he just did podcast interviews and post them weekly or monthly. Of course, that might piss off the stalker.

I wish Heather the best and hope she makes some changes to the show to make it her own.

One of the charming things I liked about Art was his close feedback all the time. I generally hate "PR" wankers but I'm beginning to see why a little buffer in between the "celeb" and the public might be very advisable.

Now that is a good idea! Perhaps he or she has bragged to somebody!

I will offer $20,000.00 to anybody providing information leading to the Arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the Stalking Terror resulting in my Leaving the air from MITD.

Art Bell

Art, forget the $20,000 reward.  Skeptics will just say you could offer $20 million since you know you'll never have to pay it, because you made all this up.

So never mind the reward. If you really want to shut up a lot of the skeptics on here and prove you're telling the truth, you don't need to spend a dime.  Simply go down to the NYE County Sheriff's Dept. and file a police report about the death threat you claim to have received by phone.  You know, the only part of this case that can be independently verified?

It hasn't been that long since you claim you got the threat, and it's very likely that the phone company still has the records.  You know the date the call occurred, and you know the approximate time.  It should be very easy for the police and the phone company to pinpoint the phone number of the person who made the death threat.  Just because you didn't file a report that night, doesn't mean you can't still file one.

So, will you go down to the NYECSD and file an official police report about the telephone death threat?

I'll just say this as someone who has been very involved with choosing and working with "talent" --actors, actresses, announcers -- from casting through production. I understand that podcasting is different, but in the broadcast world, the actual talent of the performer has to be there from day one. It may mature and get better with experience, but there is no such thing as practicing your way to talent. You've either got it (and you're lucky enough to have someone notice) or you don't. So you can be a novice but you can't be unqualified. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but that's how it works.
