I was under the impression that the Nye County Sheriff's Department had jurisdiction with regards to patrol and emergency services inside Pahrump Nevada. I don't think there is a municipal police force.

LOL! Though I do understand completely why someone would want to live there. If you want to blast your stereo at full volume at 3am and don't want a municipality that harasses about every little thing - that is the kind of place you can go.  I guess I relate to Art in that way as a fan, because I am just as "anti-social" as he claims to be and I understand his use of that phrase.  Its not that Art dislikes people in general, its that he wants to be able to keep them at arm's length on his terms when he wants to. He doesn't like crowds and congestion.  (and neither do I)  When you live in a rural setting there are indeed tradeoffs as well as those gained with celebrity status. Pros and cons.

There's a Dark Side to Law Enforcement in the "Boonies".

In most states , to get Certified in Law Enforcement, one must attend an approved Police Academy training program (NY City has its own Academy), other places such as Florida have certain Colleges that offer the training. Upon completion after passing, as in Fla. they sit for a State Exam.
Since the expense of the Academy and exam fees are the same, what begs the question is why someone would want to take those qualifications and go to someplace in the Boonies where the salary is way below the median, when they could earn far more elsewhere?
Higher salaries does not mean they must live in a huge city with higher costs of living. There are moderate sized cities with nearby affordable living accommodations.

But here comes the Dark Side- Those "Boonie" locations have the lowest pay and usually attract those with a desire for a minimum work load (read-low motivation),or in worse cases they are the "French Foreign Legion" for Screw-ups from other Departments who are told that if they resign, nothing negative will be on their record, - otherwise they will be fired.

anyone and everyone...all we know is it has happened at night..first time..shots fired from/near a car..no witness to see the person...2ndish time Art said he stepped out and was blinded by his lights..so ..again..no description...3rdish time what ever..he saw someone creeping around by the side of house or something..again..no description (2 and 3 might have been the same incindent?) then last night..just a voice and shot/firecracker and a "You were" message...probably you were told not to go back on air

so really..thats what the police have to go on..nothing really..overwhelming in terms of clues to send them after someone...specific

Art....please, think long and hard about this. These 'people' are escalating and are clearly very determined. I suspect, and it is only my opinion, that this may be a corporate 'let's hire some thug under the table' sort of tactic....just my opinion, but the whole thing seems orchestrated to send a message and to put an end to your radio career. I don't think some lone crazy guy would be that organized, fearless and that relentless.

This is how afraid they are of you Art...and they are willing to act on it. Please stay safe...perhaps move you and your family to a safer location.... and I sure hope the FBI are still involved. I am sure they are...these are Sirius incidents (pun intended).

I'm cut from the same cloth. I am addicted to the space. If I were forced to move back into the city proper, I would require some kind of loft situation, like Tom Hanks had in BIG, located in a business district with few neighbors.

I would also require sole access to the roof of said loft in order to pace like a Teutonic god beneath the moon.

Correct.  The Sheriff has a station in Pahrump. The city probably contracted with the Sheriff to provide police service, as a lot of smaller cities in CA have done to cut overhead.  The way I see it, if they catch this guy, it's just a matter of time before another whacko shows up; Art's topics can really push buttons on some folks.  The satanist and occult guests Art had on around Halloween would seem to be apt triggers for religious nuts.

Much as I dislike Noory's bumbling hosting skills, I think its way out of line to mention him in association with this nefarious stuff.  AFAIK, there's been no stampede of affiliates to MITD; PremNet has its own means of protecting its rice bowl.

If you read half the stuff on the Noory sucks thread, you could take at least a dozen individuals out who a lawyer could suggest as being of interest to investigate, regarding the continued health of Noory. Noory has had some truly vile things said about him. I'm not a fan of his and don't listen to his show, but he gets a great deal of unjustified shit that, that even 1/1000 was directed at AB would get the fandom calling the police and demanding that 'something must be done'.
