Were are the freaking flood lights?

!. Where are the flood lights?
2. Where is security?
3. Where are the cameras filming what goes on on the premises?
4. Where are the cops? Don't they assign cops to watch or check in with a person being threatened?
5. Where is Jocko Johnson when you need him?

Robert

The only consolation here is that if it's dark, Mr. Bell must be hard to hit.  OTOH, it seems the person saw well enough to tell when he was about to unlock the gate.  Or maybe just heard keys jangling or footsteps.  Either that or a fantastic coincidence on the timing of the shot by someone who ay not have even been aiming in that direction, but I'm losing hope of that possibility.

It's not as if shooting were going on all the time, or Art would hear it, as he did that night when he was in his studio.  I hear the shooting frequently from the police range at Rodman's Neck here in the Bronx, a couple miles away, so I'd expect people to be able to hear shots in Pahrump.

Worst case now would be someone with an IR sniper scope dead set on keeping Art from going on the air/wire.  How can he dare do the show until that possibility's excluded?  Does he dare venture into his studio in daylight, thinking his adversary wants to keep cover, or does that just make it easier to be permanently silenced?

Would be a start to cease posting the details (such as police response times) on publicly accessible sites. If I were in that position, I'd by now have moved the family out to locations confidential and not broadcast that fact. Then I'd rig up lights and cameras at the very least.

A new thread could start to get a posse together to stand outside the place 24/7..

Flood lights sound like a great idea, and maybe a remote controlled high-powered spotlight?
How does that play out in a scenario like last night's?  The shooter (or firecracker wielder, I hope) is at some distance in the dark, and the area around Art Bell lights up?  He has a spotlight he can remotely control while he's lying on the ground?  Better he'd have an aerial illumination flare.

Art needs a tunnel to his shack.

GravitySucks

It seems like everytime something like this happens, TigerLily is nowhere around.

I'm not saying she's the perp. I'm wondering why she hasn't called for a tactical deployment of Art's Tarts.

Because they need to sort out who will look after their cats when they're away. Once that's done and they've bought a few provisions and extra fold up chairs with cup holders they'll be good to go.

Yes, because it's perfectly reasonable to expect him to make "doing his radio show", under siege conditions, his first priority.  ::)

What he needs to do is take care of his family, first and foremost and then yell and scream and jump up and down, if necessary, until he gets some real police action on the matter.

If the police can't stop it, I'd pull up sticks and do my live, midnight (US) internet feed from, literally anywhere else on the planet... preferably in the middle of the afternoon.

Really if we had all the fine details of the case we could build a better profile of who is stalking Art.  Pull together a Think Tank or Tiger Team. Work with facts, no wild speculation.  I'm sure he has folks in his fanbase that are cops, ex-cops or FBI and Private Investigators that would volunteer.
The intruder/stalker is:
1) Likely residing permanently in Las Vegas or Pahrump
2) Knows Arts place of residence, home phone number and patterns of when he is on and off the air
3) Owns a dark vehicle
4) Owns a Gun
5) Sex and approximate age could be estimated by Art from voice pattern in the phone call and outdoor encounter "you were..."
6) Is at least somewhat skilled in techniques of prowling and evasion (was able to get close on a secured property and evade Pahrump Police/Nye county)
7) Likely hates Art specifically for reasons relating to something he said or who he interviewd on MITD as this has been when 3 incidents have occured immediately before or during a show. Further clues could be gained by process of elmination of all non-sensitive topics before the evening of the first incident and after July 20, 2015.

The best new information would come from transcripts of 911 calls from Bell residence and Pahrump Police and/or Nye County Sheriff reports - but I think it wise not to inundate or badger these departments with a flurry of requests but ask a specific person to be a point person to gather this. They have jobs to do and don't have time to gather records for the purposes of entertainment and amusement - so if you are going to ask - follow through and share if you want to genuinely help. Be professional in your request.

Please, please, please folks for the sake of the Bells and MITD - let's not speculate - and put together as many facts as we can. I think we can as a group get to the bottom of this with some clear headed thinking and assistance.  I would hope Art hand picks several of us to help investigate, but I can see what he would cringe at doing that based on some of the remarks in the past on the forum.

Potentially working with said stalker; good move.

Jeeze, if every alleged crime had this much public spirited output, crime would end overnight.

Yeah, because he knows his fans intimately! Bloody hell.

As I said, the public spirited approach is great; shame it doesn't extend to others.

Squeaky Wheels always get Prioritized Attention in cases like this.

How to make this wheel squeak-

Inquiry Bombardments-To the "Powers that Be"

Emails
FOI Requests
Phone calls

It was suggested previously, ridiculed, and so the problem continues.

What about International Rescue? Then when the infrastructure is in place it can be used for other pressing problems all over the world. The local police have nothing to do so it's perfectly reasonable to bombard them with phone calls, e mails and FOI requests. That way they can sit at their desks all day instead of actually doing any police work..

Skilled investigators can spot a mole, basic intelligence techniques. ;)

There is some irony in that his celebrity status can both be the cause and solution in something like this. You're right, ordinary non-famous folks get crimes committed against them everyday and the police barely have time to make a report, let alone investigate.  If we have the advantage of sheer numbers to bring a hooligan to justice why not do it? I do see your point, though.  Whomever is bothering Art represents someone of scum of the Earth qualities to many of us.  Doesn't it make your blood boil and arms tense up to think about it?

It took twenty minutes for law enforcement to get to Art's house?! For a shooting?!
Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE.
How can they take that long to respond to a (probably frantic) report of shots being fired!?

Yeah, and there's a proliferation on most fandom sites! A mole? Fucking hell.. If someone is out to get anyone, unless the potential victim takes even basic steps to mitigate the event, the crim will get the upper hand by dint of them planning it and watching the response. Hence not posting the bloody running commentary.

It makes my blood boil that criminality isn't nipped in the bud at an early age. Teachers can spot them aged about five. They're too scared of losing their jobs though to do anything, because discipline is a dirty word in society these days. Sorry, I digress.

Best laugh I've had today.

Since we are wildly speculating, let's decide to where Art should relocate.

I vote for wherever that caller and his wife were tunneling into Mt. Shasta to avoid the meteor impact or whatever "it" was that was going to kill us all.

"Coming to you from one of North America's mysterious power points, this is Midnight in Mt. Shasta..."

It has a certain ring.

someone needs to commence a kickstarter to fund an Art Bell fan from Texas as a security guard.

Or his adoring benefactors can convert a spare room or shed into a studio, and AB can flit between them all on a daily basis.

Not to all out excuse the 20 minute wait time but Pahrump is 364 square miles - almost the size of Las Vegas proper - but with a population of only about 36,000 - even travelling at 60 mph it can take over 15 minutes to cross the town.  Its not Mayberry or a densely populated city with small precincts...Pahrump is Pahrump  :-\

I grew up on the outskirts of a small town in an unicorporated area - the Sheriff sometimes took up to half an hour to respond.

Life in the boonies for celeb has a down side.  He may as well put a 20-foot tall flashing arrow on his roof that says ART BELL LIVES HERE AND THE COPS DON'T.
