No. I have no idea what the situation is, just like everyone else. But if you start claiming to see outlandish things then I think that it is something that is at least worth considering. People tend to feel a familiarity with radio personalities that is entirely unwarranted. I think there are other explanations for all of this that are more likely, but I don't think we can totally rule out mental illness. As some have mentioned, a lot of it doesn't add up, and it is hard to tell what is actually going on under the surface.

Over Thansgiving dinner my sister's boyfriend mentioned that he listens to Coast. Although I initially liked the dude, that comment has ruined our relationship forever.

There are probably three options:

1. He is being threatened by a stalker. It happens, and I can't say it isn't the case here, but you have to wonder why (if it was connected to the shooting a while back) he hasn't at least got his family out of the way for the time being. It is puzzling. Also, it might generate at least a modest mention somewhere in the media, even if he isn't the big-hitter he used to be.

2. For reasons best known to himself, he is making it up. Either to generate excitement/publicity or to position himself for a graceful exit because he has already had enough, but doesn't want to get slaughtered by all of his fans. I think it's far-fetched, but it's at least a possibility.

3. He is paranoid/delusional/insert disorder here. There may have been a shooting incident, but we have no idea whether it was actually intended to intimidate him. He might have been alerted by a neighbour, but we don't know if they are just another nut as well who thinks the Messicans were invading. I have mentioned a couple of the things he claims to have seen lately - if someone said that to me I would question their mental health. But, in Art's case, it may all have been a bit of material for on the air.

I am not claiming Art has bats in his belfry, simply because we don't have enough information to make that claim. But at the very least there is something a bit odd in the way he has presented things so far.

I don't expect a radio host not to at least 'inflate' or 'spin' events. I'm listening to Art with Robert Morningsky 1996-07-12 and Art eggs on about a car accident Morningsky had in which someone hit him while jogging at night. Now, I don't even know if the incident happened, but even if it did there could be several, more logical explanations why a car might hit a person and not stop:
1) drunk driver
2) kids on a joyride
3) car thief or criminal having drugs/stolen property in his car
4) the person didn't even notice (if it was a glancing blow) and thought he clipped an animal of some type
5) uninsured driver or driver on suspended license, open warrant, etc.
Also wasn't discussed if Morningsky was wearing reflective material, was he running with or against traffic, running in the middle of the road or on the break-down lane, etc.
But Art jumped, and encouraged, that someone wanted to kill him- even though Morningsky himself said "probably just trying to scare me since a professional would complete the job."
Just throwing it out there that the worst possibility was Art's initial explanation. Not that I'm saying the incidents didn't happen, or that they are scary, but not NECESSARILY all connected or actual targeting of him. Again, it could be.

ALternate therapies are sometimes universally helpful, but things like homeopathy really do help some people, and not others, and it seems to depend on something about the person and not the disorder.  There are things we just do not know yet. 

Anyone who gets head congestion, though, should really train themselves to use a neti pot.  God, all those years of suffering could have been alleviated for me.

Snorge uses a neti pot - but he pours it in the wrong orifice so it acts more like an enema.
