If peddling dubious content is enough to impugn character, you could tar nearly every one of Art's guests with that brush.  It's just entertainment, fantasy, and most of us get it.

What has shown us how Hoagie is with people besides the fight with Dave (laughable) and whatever happened with his stalker (who I just heard Hoagie acknowledge as the first one to come up with the Mars-as-archaeology idea)?

The guy is a jerk.  It comes through loud and clear in his appearances.  You must have a high tolerance for it to not have noticed.  No one is too worried about his stupid theories, it's about his tone and some of his commentary toward callers and the audience.  Shame on Art Bell and George Noory for continuing to bring someone on their shows with this level of respect for their audiences.

Hoagland should have disappeared when his Face On Mars theory was debunked as just some interesting shadows, and not returned until he had some real proof of his ideas.  Instead his ego grew larger instead of smaller, he doubled down on this 'theories' and became more insistent and more of an ass.

whatever he did to that guy, was probably something very sinister which he tries to play off as something he did for his benefit. If you look into his videos, Gary (although he is indeed an originator of manic conspiracies) wasn't always that way, and you can find a great deal of evidence in his videos if you piece it together. He was driven to a point of frustration, and as much as RCH tries to blame the "dark side of the force" or whatever, it's really just karma. You reap what you sow.

You're probably right.  Until Rossy I had no opinion as to his character other than a harmless nut.  Any arrogance I attributed to performance or, in the case of Dave, justified and kind of fun to hear.
