The responses here to Art's messages are like reading the results of a personality/emotional Rorschach test.  Who sees utter doom.  Who is trusting and upbeat. Who's worried, who's completely pissed off. Who doesn't give a sh@t (hi Onan). One thing to remember is we're hard core fans and his messages are not just for us and his base but to the whole world. Which btw does not revolve around us.
Personally, I'm still of the mind it's going to be good news. Why new FB site and urging people to join TT if he's quitting or even going corporate. It may be expansion into more and bigger terrestrial stations but I think now he knows he has the clout to do it his way.  Maybe it's DMDR expansion adding Dreamland and LMH's show and current TTers will get a package deal.
Maybe I'm all wet and have no idea what I'm talking about (very likely) but I hope my Rorschach results are "rational optimist"
Back to the Rorscach test idea.  I think of this thread like a picture of a glass with liquid at the halfway point.  Unlike the two well known categories most here belong in a third vaguely lovable group:  Who the fuck drank half my damn drink!

I think he and Hoagland are going to pair up, with Hoagie hosting many nights. Perhaps in a better chair, with better phones.

Maybe a good old fashioned network radio show is in the works:

The story so far:

Art, Dave, and Falkie have been lovers for the last five years. Art has found out that Falkie and Dave got married in Vegas last week and is, to quote his Facebook wall, "majorly pissed over it". Art is going to suspend the show for six months while he hunts them down and, again from Facebook, "wastes their faggoty asses".

In other news, jazmunda's ultra-realistic Art Bell doll has had to go back to the manufacturers for the third time this month due to serious lacerations in certain areas. He's been given a final warning, and next time they send it straight to the police.

Look.

Hey Jen. Funny this should be posted this week. If you look at the faq on the new Mutual Radio news site you will see that their main (and probably a partner) news caster is none other than Leo Ashcraft. And of course they mention Art bell and Dmdn as well

Interesting yes?

Nope - got an email saying my sub has been processed.

We know this is a start-up operation; they're making things up as they go and are going to change things around to maximize profit and maybe minimize costs, among which are Art's time and effort as a retired person and family man.  But I think if a real PR person ever got a hold of Art they'd put an end to this dramatic stuff as damaging to his personal brand or whatever, which is silly.

Art has always come across as a regular guy who lets his audience participate in the vicissitudes of his life -- I think that's why so many of us care about him more than your average celebrity, whose image is polished to a fake, corporate sheen.

This site creates the illusion that we're all sort-of insiders, so it's jarring and annoying when reality hits and we realize some people know more than others.  But that's how things work in real life.

Indeed!
Art enjoys yanking chains. Not in a mean or vindictive way. it's playful imho.  It's easy to see by his history of posts here and on FB, he enjoys stirring up the base, then he sits back to see how people react.  It is entertaining to see the wide range of emotions & reactions people have about a guy doing a radio show.  I don't understand why some take it so personally, get so worked up & angry, about a marketing tactic and a smart business move, which btw, happens all the time in the entertainment industry.

He posts vague hints and clues about a big announcement to create a buzz. It's marketing 101.
The "sometimes vicious, yet vaguely lovable" fans at bellgab & FB will run with it. We will spend all weekend posting wild speculative guesses which in turn will draw in more people who might otherwise not care.  Its self perpetuating & smart in terms of getting the masses to do the work for you.
Buzz buzz buzz. :)
Enjoy the ride people!

Perhaps Art has a reason for teasing and revelling in our reactions, that we have overlooked.

Maybe for him at age 70; going away for the weekend, it works BETTER than The Blue Pill  ::)
You mean we're his....fluffers?  :P oh well. Anything to.keep.Art happy and on the air. Since MV is missing, I elect Jazmunda

That's the other great mystery.  Where is MV?  I did hear David Paulides is including MV in his next book, though.

That's the problem. It's so artless (no pun intended) that it's transparent. You'd hope that a septuagenarian who had been in this game as long as him would be a bit more savvy than using that tired old gimmick. It goes with his faint hope that we were all supposed to be getting the word out for him in this 'blitz' thing. That sort of approach makes sense when you are on the radio broadcasting to all sorts of people and you are fighting to get their interest and attention. In this model (to use a Hoaglandism) you already have their attention. You are tickling a trout that you have already landed and he should be looking to be a bit smarter. This idea that we are all supposed to go twittering to everyone we know and infect them with the Art Bell virus is wishful thinking. If he keeps pulling this sort of thing people end up getting bored.

The problem that Art has is that people tend not to tell him 'no'. I am enjoying the show, just not liking the noises-off stuff that goes along with it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride at MITD. If it ended tomorrow, I would have no regrets.

I noticed that several days ago Art said he had an announcement but MV asked him not to say anything yet. The next day or two Art says he now has an official FB page and all should be sure to refer to it for announcements. Perhaps MV is folding Bellgab. Just my wild guess.

Or to continue the speculation fun... Art is buying BellGab from MV.... It's ALWAYS follow the money to know the TRUTH!

Now why would bellgab fold if other truly shitty forums are allowed to exist?
About MV asking Art not to say anything yet, I have not seen this post, but we know the DMDN universe is drawing from Bellgab talent with Redacted and Rossy landing the producer gigs. We know MV has tremendous radio talent so maybe he's been busy cooking something up for DMDN.

Art actions are getting us bored?
Seems like you're active pounding out complaint posts and I have been entertained reading them. Neither of us is bored.

By the way....just wondering....if (Redacted) is Art's new producer, does that mean Keith has now been wished out to the cornfield? Would miss him if that were true.

No the producer mainly reearches and lines up guests for the host. Heather replaced Dr J.

To build DMDN Keith wears many hats.. Maybe you are confusing his show line up tasks wth those of a producer?
