I think that Premiere is going to re-brand the C2CAM show so that the true nature of the show shines through. They will change the name to Mind Diaper Radio. Art Bell will do nothing except laugh. And laugh. And laugh

In usual Art Bell fashion, his response is just ambiguous enough to mean about anything.  While I would hope beyond hope he plans to return, I fear another interpretation is possible...

Perhaps his reply wasn't meant to mean that he didn't need money to get back on the air. Perhaps it means he doesn't need money because he is not planning on getting on the air. His "stay tuned" may simply reference some personal events in his life which he is planning on telling us.

I hope I'm wrong of course.

One simple way for him to get on the air and streaming would be KNYE.  I'm sure Karen Jackson would love to give him a talk spot.  And they do stream...
It may be a way for Art to get his Radio fix albeit on a much smaller scale.  One plus would be the lack of Upper management to suffer.

Art is posting as himself now.  In the beginning, the posts had random midsentence capitalizations, which I attributed to Airyn's unfamiliarity with mobile tech.  Since moving back to the USA, Art has become much more interested in Facebook, even posting once on Airyn's site, saying "Art here...." and typing a message.  This would be the two of them sitting in a restaurant booth checking her page and she shows him what the friend wrote.

There is absolutely no reason for Art to be talking with fans unless he wants to keep his fans together to communicate accurately with them.  For what?  To enhance his retirement?  No.  As we all know, Art has no problem with complete silence for months.  Only thing interrupting the crickets were the appearances of fraudulent Facebook pages with people claiming to be him.  I am sure Airyn helped him set up his own site and and complain to Facebook that his identity was being usurped.

Art has leverage in negotiations when he can bring a FB page which acquired 5,000 fans in just a few months (not an accurate figure BTW, just an example).  He needs this to prove that he is not a has-been and still has a following which would kick-start ratings for a new effort.  He wouldn't need to prove that were he headed for something with Coast. 

So I'm weighing in on the KNYE podcast side.  I think that's the most probable scenario.

If he has a non-compete, I wonder when it runs out. The ideal would be that it was 5 years from 2003 when idiot George Noory took over, but since he did some guest hosting, I'm not so sure.

It is my opinion that Mr. Bell WILL return to AM radio with another syndicator.

Bell sold out to Premiere Networks so why in the world would he return as an employee?

I don’t care what GN says… he might have a contract until the End of Time.  Once his ratings drop he will be “Out of There”… a new host will be hired to replace him… and GN will be paid the remaining balance of his contract and he will finally be gone.

In response to other comments made.  I qualify.  I am an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator (KL7 = Alaska and live in Las Vegas and have listened to Bell nightly pre-1990!).

If you have scorn… don’t go after GN.  Go after Management 101 who lets him (GN) continue!

In defense of Premier, I wonder what Art & George's deal with the company is/was.  Premier syndicates all kinds of talkers, from Limbaugh to liberal Randi Rhodes.  Both Limbaugh & Randi strongly assert that Premier has nothing to do with their content & I believe them.  We know that Rush is Premier's star,  he has a special deal.  Randi, on the other hand, is less well known.  Both hosts are really strong personalities and don't take kindly to authority.

I therefore believe that George is responsible for the lame content, for the most part.  Premier doesn't micromanage the content.  As long as the host sustains the listenership, Premier maintains the business relationship.

If Olbermann's "do not compete" was only six months, then, if Art has a severence contract with Premier, I hope his clause was for a similar amount of time.

Randi Rhodes is OK. However, I think her time slot conflicts with that twit Hannity. I will never get Hannity's appeal. He makes Noory sound good.

Not trying to be a buzz kill, but calling it as I see it with all this paparazzi like reporting! I've spent more than my fair share of time listening to Art Bell over the years and still miss him on C2C, but what's posted on their Farcebook status updates with family & friends should stay there. I'm sure when the Bells posted all that they didn't figure people would be frothing at the mouth to deliver the latest gossip from their FB page.

Public figure or not, would you like your FB entries posted up on a website with play by play analysis of your stuff by people who have no clue as to what is really going on?

I don't think Art minds the attention. His mysteriousness always seemed to encourage speculation about him, and if he minded, he would contact the admin of the forum. Noory felt unhappy about our speculations here, and he made it clear.
I do see the point about creepiness, but that's speculating too. We are just sick of George Noory, it's a symptom of this Noory-itis or whatever you wish to call it.

Noory has mentioned "the haters" several times. I also think that his incessant screening of calls is proof of how afraid he is of being confronted by people who dislike him. That or he really does think the drunks and hoarders who call are too creepy for the air sometimes.

but give him a little time to get set up in his updated house. And yes I have read all 101 pages over the past year and there is some interesting content and some horse s**t too. Carry on..

What you said is interesting. I knew a girl when I was growing up whose dad was retired. She would complain about it so much as would her mom because it seemed the father was not busy enough. The key to retirement is to be occupied, so to speak. Family is great, but I think when his daughter gets older, she'll want the privacy a bit, and a show would be a great way to keep his mind busy. Taking this almost decade long break may have been healthy. Good for him that he is able to do it and still have the fans wishing for his return.

No one could plan out the full Suckage George has turned the show into.  That could only be grown organically, one lousy guest at a time, one pointless cue card at a time.  I think they don't care about anything other than drive time/commute hour hosts, I doubt if any of the people in charge have even tuned into George's show.  George doesn't listen to Ian's show and vice versa, why would anyone else.

About Art returning to the airwaves.  I'm guessing not, sadly.

No way a 'non-compete' has extended this many years.  Anything too long would be struck down by a court as anti-trade, or anti-competitive, whatever the legalese is for that.  Additionally, the courts come down on the side of people's right to employment - no agreement can prevent Art or anyone else from employment in their chosen field for more than a short time.

Art is a perfectionist.  If he were to come back, he knows he would be back to an around the clock job, and that just is not where he is right now, new family and all.  He is a nut about ham radio, and anyone with a hobby they love can't help but be jazzed about new developments and all that.  They don't quite get that everyone isn't as excited as they are about it.  I'd say any new announcement will be about some new equipment or some such.

George knows he sucks.  I doubt he understands the full magnitude of his Suckage. 

I once heard him state - on a video of a meet and greet somewhere - a little ruffled, exasperated, that 'I'm not Art Bell'.  So George knows he looks bad in comparison. 

He must have thought if Art was finally gone that comparison wouldn't be dogging him, and that - at least in a few people's minds - he wouldn't suck nearly as much without Art there demonstrating how it should be done every week, even once a month.

George, as usual, is wrong.
