But I agree, that the Satanic Ritual Abuse and "remembered memories" was often a farce and horrible. Though I suspect some stuff did happen and was true. There are some sick people out there. But, yes, sexual child abuse is the ideal charge to ruin someone. Especially with technology these days and especially with illegal porn. I imagine it would be pretty easy for a person/agency to plant images in someone's computer or phone or simply send some through their WiFi and that will be enough to ruin their life, have them imprisoned, or at least discredited.

Certainly, we can solve this problem.  The question is - how much and how soon?

The problem is that the choice we have is either to continue our present rate of growth while each of us live a lifestyle close to subsistance OR live the lifestyle we now enjoy and curb population growth.  Population alone is not the problem, but what we do in our lives is.  The very efficient means of production that saved humanity back then is what is going to kill us in the future.

Our population, at its current growth, could reach an unsustainable 27 BILLION by 2100.  Ninety-Nine point nine percent of al the species on the planet have gone extinct.  We are not exempt.  Sure, there are things we could do, but are we doing those things?

We don't need to do anything. As I said, so long as affluence continues to rise in India and China they will stop having children on their own. Just look at Japan, they went through similar circumstances as China and India, and now face an eventual population shortage. More, we don't really have a good idea on what will be sustainable by 2100 because we have no idea what means of production will be used for food. 27 billion could be entirely sustainable if you're running your society on GMO strains that yield six times what normal plants do. In such a case the carrying capacity of the Earth dramatically rises. It's the same problem that caused Malthus to be wrong, if you can't predict what effect future emergent technologies are going to have on a situation, then you can't know what the situation will actually be.

Besides, I'm not sure the word "sustainable" will have any meaning in 2100. We'll probably be well into the nanotechnological revolution by that point and that completely changes the game.

A) Why wasn't he even charged?

Both of them are useless on those shows since they just make short comments that came from what they heard from other guests, so its 3rd hand from them...

Agreed.  Most of the satanic ritual abuse panic emerged from the evangelical Christian right which was just coming into power in the late 80's; the panic then took hold in wider society.  It was a pretty scary time for anyone who had any kind of interest in the paranormal, occult, esoteric or wasn't JC.  For those that weren't around or don't remember, there are quite a few good books on the topic - Debbie Nathan, Sherrill Mulhern, Lawrence Wright.  I always assumed Aquino was targeted because of his status as a public Satanist.
