Terrible first guest. Graham Hancock is a notorious brain dead pothead and pseudo-archaeologist. His bullshit makes Ed Dames' killshot bullshit look like historical fact.

then i guess you should call in and challenge hancock.

Those EVP shows were among my least favorite (with or without Chunga.)  I thought the recordings sounded completely made up.  I'm fascinated by parapsychology topics, but not convinced by any of the silly 'voice' recordings from supposedly departed spirits I've heard on various shows including Art's.

...  And I'm sorry but one short, muffled, out of context sentence is a pretty weak effort to effectively communicate from beyond the grave. I smell BS. :)

To me these shows are about the power of suggestion, and the desire to believe, more than anything else.

I'd like to hear a program where they play the recording before saying what it is we are supposed to be listening for.

I'd love to hear a show where they played their recordings and never did say what it was we were supposed to be hearing, just let listeners guess and wonder about it.  I think radios would be turned off all over the country if they were to do that

Months worth of them out getting recordings, distilled down to a dozen of 'the best' to play on Coast, and maybe one of them sounds like something.  Maybe

I can't speak to MV's recordings since I haven't heard them, perhaps he should play some on the GabCast.

I think Hancock is engaging and spins a good story. He is always interesting.

As a notorious brain dead pothead myself, I think I don't disagree.

If I remember Art did that once with GIS...it was more interesting for sure!

I thought Dr Steven Greer's DM UFO update was one of the best UFO shows Art ever did!

I always liked Hancock...fits in with the ancient alien attraction out there!

Hancock isn't a big proponent of the ancient alien theory. He just believes that ancient civilizations were far more advanced and intelligent than most people think. He has even mentioned that he doesn't believe in the ancient alien theories.

True. I should have clarified people's interest in antients being more technologically advanced than we may have thought...

I'd love to hear a show with Art interviewing an expert on the Antikythera mechanism.  That whole subject absolutely fascinates me.

More evidence that ancient civilizations were more intelligent than we give them credit for.

I don't know, I heard Hancock was thoroughly debunked after Fingerprints of the Gods came out, not necessarily as an intentional fraud but as someone who cherry picked his facts and ignored contradictory evidence.  I never read his stuff or looked into it because I lost interest after hearing this.

How can you be a fan of Art or Coast To Coast then? The majority of things they cover can be thoroughly debunked.  Hancock doesn't claim that his ideas are fact, unlike the majority of the ancient alien crowd.

You are 100% correct. Hancock has been debunked time and again for his fraudulent claims, especially involving Egyptian historical facts. Total fraud. Just another recycled turd like Dames and Hoagie.

We played MV's EVP as well as a spooky 'Jorch' EVP, on the show back in Feb, 2014.

I agree.  I don't like to be front-loaded with anything.  As soon as they say what they think it is you automatically listen and focus on that.  They should just play the clip then tell us what they think and then play it again.

The interesting thing for me with EVP is the mystery of what it really is.  I don't assume spirit activity because I don't really believe in that.  Some of them could be RF or other interference.  There was a cheap recorder that people were using years ago for EVP that was known to be problematic with electromagnetic interference.  A lot of people were running around using this particular recorder and claiming they got EVP, but it was really nothing.  The strangest ones are when the voices say something relevant or specific to the people doing the recording.  Perhaps our own minds are imprinting something onto the recordings.

Please by all means expand upon why you think he's terrible other than your generalized personal attacks?

I find him to interesting and open minded with some well thought out hypotheses. Nothing he states about his theories does do so as if he's saying they are facts. They are just his theories. Besides. He's been to all of the places he's talked about, taken photos etc. touched the ruins he talks about. Recently.

But yeah, go ahead please tell us why you think he's terrible other than your personal attacks?

Again, since you "heard" it and didn't bother to read his book or read what his detractors said you really have no basis for an opinion. Yet you have one. This is the internet after all.

There's nothing he wrote to be debunked because it all works off a theory that's slowly being proven by real archeaologists in the field. The original theory being their was an advanced civilization that existed some 11-12k years ago that had a global reach and were wiped out by natural disasters. And that the remnants of this civilization formed the beginnings of other ancient civilzitations.

First off. There is nothing radical about that theory. It's not aliens. It's humans. He's also not saying they could hover and were mutants or some other whacky shit. But the fact that it challenges people's traditional paradigms and is a bit outside the narrow view of historians. It gets attached.

There was only one Malachi Martin, but I hope you can find someone similar again, Art.

I agree on Father M. Martin !

If there is someone else you can get like him, Art - that would be awesome.

I loved the shows and played them for my daughter who loves them as well.  Two generations interested in it must say something.

(I know I am behind on this thread today but had to add another Father Martin thumbs up ).

because art never instructed anyone to believe anything.  it was just presented as is, and the listener could figure things out for themselves if they chose.
